Gaming 4 Charity
Social gaming is nowadays the norm. Instead of competing against AI, most gamers will play against people all across the world in online multi player games, not forgetting the fact that many gamers still play with their siblings / mates / partners on a daily or weekly basis.
Whilst at Soccer Gaming, we do try and cover as many bases as possible in terms of football video games, there was one area we where decidedly missing. Philanthropy. The art of giving. Making and raising money for those less fortunate. For many years, this site has run on the help and work of gamers in their free time, and financially, we are just not in a position to give what little money received from advertising, at risk of shutting down ourselves!
Out there, in the WWW, there are some good eggs however. I was recently made aware of an exceptional project run by Gaming 4 Charity, who in early 2012, played a 24 live stream of Football Manager 2012 online, with the aim to raise money for Cancer Research. The footage was streamed via You Tube, and Premier League hit man, Adam Le Fondre even joined in for 7 hours to take part.
So far, the project has raised over £2,000 from over 100 different donations, and I would like to offer a link to the Soccer Gaming community who may wish to add their support.
Surely, this is the true power of social gaming, bringing people together to ultimately help and support one another.
