FIFA Soccer 09 How to Defend PS3 Guide

Written by Bolivar Bique on Wednesday, 18 March 20095 Comments

Since the release of FIFA Soccer 09 many of you are having trouble in defense. I decided to create a small guide to help you become a better defender in FIFA Soccer 09. I recommend applying these tips and tricks in an unranked game just for you to get a hang of things.

This guide is great against opponents who use team like Manchester United, Barcelona, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, and many other strong offesive teams. These tips are not for everyone since everyone has different style of play.

Never Dive In:
Many players rush the attacker if you play soccer in real life you know this is the hardest way to defend as the attacker will beat you easily. Don’t Dive In.

Wait for Support:
When you are 1v1 against the attacker don’t put pressure right away if you are the last defender back. If the attacker beats you he will be 1v1 against the keeper, wait for support and use the (Call 2nd Defender Button) then make your defensive move. Read Full Guide Here

Inter IS NOT a offensive team…

Great article, it has improved my defence greatly. But I have to disagree with…
“The reality of this is that players are not suppose to pass the ball forward at kick-off they need to pass the ball back then go forward this is the fairplay way.”

    Arccording to..
    http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/lawsofthegame.h

Page 27 of Laws of the Game PDF
LAW 8 - THE START AND RESTART OF PLAY
    Kick-off:
(last line) A goal may be scored directly from the kick-off.
    Procedure:
(point 5) the ball is in play when it is kicked and moves forward.

So how can a forward kick or a goal score be in breach of FIFA fairplay, when it is in the laws of the actual sport, the game is based on? Also if the ball is kicked backwards, it is technically not in play & the kick-off must be re-taken.

Inter is the best team in Italy, that’s for sure, but remember its players in the upcoming World Cup 2010.
