FIFA World Cup 2010 Announced

Written by Dan Bolas on Sunday, 21 February 20103 Comments

As mentioned, Soccer Gaming is going through some changes, and therefore although this news was released ’several’ weeks ago, we are bringing it to you with a better late than never attitude.  Put simply, EA Sports are making the most of their FIFA license with their latest offering, a game based upon ‘the greatest tournament in the world’ coming up this summer in South Africa. The previous offerings of the World Cup franchise have been met by mixed reviews, many being seen as watered down versions of the previous years FIFA football, but following a quite successful EURO 2008 game, and perhaps more importantly the overwhelming success of FIFA 10, there is a lot look forward to from the FIFA WC 2010.

Some of the new features touted this time out include the inclusion of altitude affected performance, making teams like Equador and Bolivia a much trickier prospect at home than is they are travelling away. This feature is promised to not only effect the stamina of the players, many of whom will tire quickly during high altitude, but also the way the ball moves through the air. This is coupled with a whole new atmosphere within the stadiums (10 of which are included). Fans are said to be more vibrant, individual to each nation and even through toilet paper on the pitch, which is surely what all the footballing world has been waiting for!!

A total of 199 teams are said to be included in the final game, which should add an extra level of depth to a franchise which is reputed for having not enough selection, and the Online World Cup feature promises to satisfy the thirst of online gamers wishing to show off their skills on a global stage.

The game, which is scheduled to be released late April will be available for PS3, X Box 360, Wii and PSP, with the notable absence of a PC version this time around.
