Just announced on Sky Sports. Peter Taylor will be England's caretaker-manager for their next game, against Italy on November 15. The Leiceser City manager, sacked as England under-21 manager last year, will be assisted by Manchester United No2 Steve McLaren.

No, he was promoted out of Division 2 with a rag-tag collection of players at Gillingham, having a fine FA Cup run against Premiership opposition. And taking Leicester to the top of the Premiership. And turning the England U21 side into an attractive continental side that for a while was one of the best in the world. Don't ever think that what division the manager has come from matters at all.

Taylor made the U21's into one of the best sides in Europe, and then Wilkinson took over and screwed everything up. Look at what he did at Leciester with limited funds!

Heh.

And don't forget that Wilkinson contrived to sell one of the best players in Europe, Eric Cantona, to his biggest rivals for £1 million in 1992, at a time when Lentini was costing Milan £13 million. The classic 'What If...?' situation would be if Cantona had stayed at Leeds...

looks like taylor is going to have the guts to actually bring in some youngsters and bench older players, at least according to soccernet.
