View Full Version : New World Record: The fastest goal!
Punkt 15-04-2004, 08:39:PM Marc Burrows, player of the unknown Cowes Sports FC, of the Wright Island, could have garanted saturday a place in the history. In the game against Eastleigh Burrows he scored the first goal 2 seconds!!! after the kick-off. The FA is only waiting the referee report to confirm the record. :gavin:
"I put the ball on the centre spot, and noticed the 'keeper was off his line.
I looked at the referee and had a laugh with him and said 'I'll have a shot from here'.
He laughed and shrugged his shoulders - blew his whistle, then the wind got hold of the ball and it flew into the back of the net."

leungtl 15-04-2004, 08:42:PM Where's the video?

HellsideUltras 15-04-2004, 10:58:PM no way can the ball reach the back of the net in 2 seconds, because i have seen 2 of the fastest goals which clocked in at 3.7 seconds which was shot from the halfway line too so i doubt that guy did do it in 2, probably 3 sec:p :D :crazyboy:

I bet you wouldn't call it pants if someone like Ronaldo or Henry did it.
8ecks7 16-04-2004, 12:43:AM of course 2 seconds is possible, if roberto carlos can hit a ball at 140mph, that wouldnt take too long to go half the pitch

First, the official highest speed Roberto Carlos has been clocked at was 170 km/h.
That is about 106 MPH.
Let's assume the field he was playing on was the minimum length required by FIFA, 100 meters, or 0.1 km. So he had to kick it 50 m to score.
Say he kicked it in 2 seconds. So a rate of 25 meters per second.
This means he kicked the ball at 90 km/h.
So it's entirely possible. And in fact, it could be done way faster, for example if Roberto Carlos kicked it.
Sorry to the people that hadn't heard it before.

And wind-assisted . . . it's possible!
gagiz 16-04-2004, 02:58:AM Hey Hintos, your good in math arent you! I can probably score a goal way faster than that:rolleyes: :D
SB9Dragon 16-04-2004, 03:48:AM Great match Hristos :clapwap:
Anywayz if this is true then I doubt any other person can beat it, unless its Roberto Carlos who blasts the ball in full stride and makes it in 1.5 :p

Yeah, I'm OK in math... I dropped first year calculus in university tho... I had 64%, but I'm sure I would've ended up with a way lower mark than that.
But yeah, still I wish I could score direct from a kick off. I really have a hard time with distance shots, I've always wondered how some of these pro's can hit it from such distance...
ninobomba 16-04-2004, 05:32:AM that shot from far distance from Sedorf was pretty fast when he was in real madrid
djperthglory 16-04-2004, 07:55:AM man this is amazing seriously. the only ever time ive seen a ball go from centre to goal was when damian mori (adelaide city) scored australias fastest goal in an aussie league game. he now plays for my team perth glory :)
PaPaGeorGeo 16-04-2004, 08:00:AM DAMIAN MORI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i remember when he scored that he was my hero:p

claupastore 16-04-2004, 10:18:AM about 3 years ago i was in a team that played in an lower division league in venezuela. we were beating the other team like 4-0 and they scored almost when the match was over. in the kick-off after the goal, one of our midfilders who approached the ball after the ref signaled us to start the match again, he kicked it , and scored since nobaby already cared cuz we would have won the game anyways. our field is 106 or 107 mts in length.
i guess it wasnt the fastest goal, but still is the same thing :)
oh and, that guy that scored that goal in my team, almost every game tries to do the same thing. and the lucky bastard has gotten a few :crazyboy:
Dumisani 16-04-2004, 10:25:AM :funny:
why don't you try it yourself:crazyboy:
claupastore 16-04-2004, 10:49:PM my kick is not that powerful :(
it would reach the goal, but give the keeper too much time to catch the ball :crazyboy:

I remember Nicky Butt trying it in this season's home game with Everton. It was unsuccessful but scored that day.
