View Full Version : British and American commentary at the same time Pscholes18 14-12-1999, 01:56:AM I have the pc version too but I dont hear the english commentary....all I hear is the crappy american announcers...total crap...how do I change to the English? gmartinz 14-12-1999, 02:56:AM Antithesis: More info please. When do the English voices come on? Can you control it? I'm in the USA and playing a Premier League season and all I'm getting are the Americans which includes Phil Schoen making "a goal denied" sound exactly like, "a golden eye." A new award perhaps: leading scorer receives the 'golden toe,' top keeper gets the 'golden eye.' antithesis 14-12-1999, 06:43:AM Can someone tell me if it's normal to have both sets of commentators with the pc version. So many people have been complaining about the Americans, they led me to believe that you get one or the other; and I have both. antithesis 14-12-1999, 05:02:PM Sorry guys, I don,t know what causes it, that's why posted the peculiarity here. All I know thus far is that on starting the game a particular type begins, be it American or British. It stays with that commentary until I exit to windows, when I return it changes to the other, especially when it begins with the British commentators. All I can say is that I have Fifa99,Fifa2000 demo and Fifa2000 installed Offer suggestions why it happens Prashanth 14-12-1999, 05:45:PM Wow! Its totally strange. I think EaSports made a tiny blooper in manufacturing that particular cd. Celtic Canuck 14-12-1999, 07:15:PM That's the strangest mother-freaking bug i've ever heard off! I'm in disbelief. As I told another poor purchaser of the American version (I'm trying to find the entire UK comentary myself but this patch I found satisfies); I found it at www.fifa.2000.megapage.de. I think it's under patches (in German of course). antithesis 14-12-1999, 10:01:PM Latest update: I have noticed the following when the British Commentary is in effect There is no prematch talk (e.g. when Julie says they[the teams] are injury free). Lineker sends it off to Mark and John. They have never said a players name save for Sherwood(when playing for England) There is no half-time comment except for restating the score. Also, and I am not sure if this is unique; when the American commentators are on and a players name is called, I am almost certain there is a different voice used for the names, I especially detect a Spanish accent when I used Brazil and the commentator said(Roberto Carlos). I also detected another accent for a European team but I can't guess to what origination. I welcome comments from anyone with an idea to manipulate this and not have it be at the Game's whim and fancy to pick commentators. chau le 14-12-1999, 11:03:PM Try to uninstall FIFA2000 demo. cdenuyl 14-12-1999, 11:40:PM This situation really intrigues me...could it be that "antithesis" is getting UK commentary from the FIFA2K Demo? If so, does that mean that full UK commentary was packaged with the demo? Regardless, I'd recommend uninstalling the American commentary, not the UK. I'm an American, who can't stand to hear U.S. commentators' bravado as they describe the action on the pitch. In my opinion, the MLS is boring to watch...and even more boring to listen to. antithesis 15-12-1999, 12:42:AM My initial thought was that the commentary came from the demo, but, there are facts which negate that; the game was first used in the US where it was bought and the computer did not have any other EA fifa editions installed. Secondly, what accounts for the other accents. I can go on and on; but i'll try to uninstall. Cdenuyl suggested I eliminate the American commentary which suggests the audiofiles are titled differently. If this is so, please give me the name and i'll experiment. Loking forward to further comments. Latest update: Julie and Phil are back. Haven't heard the Brits for a couple of hours. xizor 15-12-1999, 03:55:AM is ur cd an original?? If its a pirate it might have both commentary file sets installed. gmartinz 15-12-1999, 05:45:AM I agree. I'm thinking you've got a pirated version. Where'd you get it? By the way, are the English commentators introduced? antithesis 15-12-1999, 06:14:AM This is the final word. It seems the game was accessing commentary from the demo. I tested it by removing the audio files and using the file I downloaded with the demo. It worked pretty damn good in my opinion, so all those whom are stressed with the Americans ought to consider this alternative. Thus far I have heard three names mentioned (Shearer, Sherwood, and Le Saux). I surmise they are there because the demo accessible to Europeans may have different teams than mine (Galaxy & United); just a guess. So that's it. Thanks to all those who posted comments and it was an honour to receive a reply from Chau. Still no answer however to the different accents when saying players names during American commentary. Maybe others can listen carefully and comment if it's the same with their cd. Annnnnndd, as much as one can say with conviction this is not a pirated cd. It was purchased in Manhattan AT A REPUTABLE OUTLET. Spnkmnkey 16-12-1999, 02:59:AM I've noticed that there definitely is another voice stating the players names. I generally play with Roma and I hear them mention .. ol heck what's his name??? Begins with a C though in the backfield??? Anyways it's all of a sudden when he gets the ball, and I'll hear them say his name like its some guy hiding under the table (Julie's skirt???) and saying random names... interesting.... antithesis 16-12-1999, 11:21:PM Spnk, that's the perfect description. This voice just comes out of the blue, it's incongruous with the commentary. Glad to hear I wasn't knitpicking and someone else heard the "third man" |
