I know this is the WE/PES forum but have any of you guys d/l and played the new EA Sports demo yet?

Oh my goodness, this crap is so funny. It's got some really nice cut scenes but the game, and I swear this is true, is as ugly as FIFA 2000. No joke! The gameplay is about as fluid as retching!

Just one more reason to be happy we have WE & PES. Compare the new Euro 2004 demo to WE7:I or PES3 on the PC and you'll see that EA have gone from 5 years behind to about 7 years behind. This game is turly horrible.

Like I said, some nice cut scenes (although the quality of the uniforms compared to the ones we have in the game are horrible) but a horrific attempt at a soccer game.

Looks like we'll have a few more new converts over here before long!

I downloaded the demo and after playing it once I had uninstalled it.

Why bother with EA Euro2004 when we can create own in WE7I or PES3?

after playing THIS, i really cannot understand why there are still PES vs FIFA threads.. the difference between them is like day and night.. :confused: :kader:

The demo is bad, very bad. The ball physics are still crap, the same goes for the animation. Its like a field full of retards you are plating with. I still dont have the feeling I have control over my players. Everything goes so stiff. The players slide around the field and the postition the player is standing in has no affect on gameplay. e.g. A player can still pass at the same speed when hes turned 180degrees away from the receiver.
And they still have the same annoying corner system. Have they never watched soccer or something?? The corner system is unrealistic, because in real soccer matches theres not just a duel between 2 players but all players in the box participate during a corner. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No this game doesnt even come close to pes.

I used to hate you people for some reason because you would always come to the Fifa forum and bash the game. Now I've seen the light, I dont know why, maybe its because I'm older. I would play PES but my computer is too crap to handle it. I can't see myself wasting money on another Fifa title from EA Sports. When/If I get a better computer I most certainly will be playing PES instead of having to put up with a rubbish game because its the only one that can work on my specs.

Just my thoughts...I can see why you guys hate the Fifa titles, because they are appauling and I'm saying this without having the chance to play PES.

Funny how they even mapped the buttons the same way as WE on the gamepad (I accidently pressed L1-Triangle and it did some kind of lop thru pass)

It's getting better, but still about 4 years behind.

I tried the demo last night. The game has been tweaked from FIFA04 but it's still a rather dismal game as far as gameplay is concerned. I think the biggest thing (after gameplay) that bothers me about FIFA games is the ball physics. The ball sticks to the players feet and doesn't seem to rotate when in the air. When you score a goal the ball seems to slide rather than roll into the back of the net. But then again FIFA is satisfying it's customers by providing an easy, arcade-style game. I don't even know why everyone insists on comparing the two games. WE7:I is a simulation whereas FIFA04/Euro2004 is an arcade game (a description that implies a lack of realism). FIFA for show, WE7:I for pros (although I wouldn't exactly call myself a pro, hehe).

I just d/ld the demo and the extension kit , why did I bother!


Grahics -- about the same as Fifa2004 cartoon like.

Ball .. this to me is the worst Ive seen in all my years of playing games .. and I am old enough to have played the hold ping pong on my TV and your contoller wass a knob you turned to move you Pad (white line) up and down the screen.

It was like a rubber ball full of water , most of the time it slide as though a snooker ball on a table but not turning , and you never felt in total control of your players , I don't know if it was the ball or a combination of ball and a delay at time of pressing the pass button and the ball moving... it was really bad.


I will say only one thing I seen that I liked, and that was the movement of your team mate (not animation ) but they would run off you and give angles for passes.

I think if Pes4 can get the same AI team movement of off the ball runs and support , I think that is the only thing that really needs improved in gameplay.

Because I hate seeing so many people ripped off year after year (or twice in this soccer year with two FIFA titles). I remember it took a lot of people over a period of time to tell me FIFA was crap before I finally decided to try out PES3 at the time and when I did I was thankful those people had opened my eyes. I used to make gameplay patches for FIFA. The thing is, most of those people on the FIFA forums have never even had the opportunity to play PES/WE as Konami do such a crap marketing job. They play what their friends play and historically that's always been FIFA.

Besides, how can you be constructive about a pile of horse$hit that costs $40? Sorry if it annoys you but I won't rest until the evil empire has fallen!

If you're setting out "not to win" any popularity then at least you've suceeded at something. I don't even know what to think of all the bashing, it's rather pointless, though it is quite funny to see the lame attempts of retaliation by the FIFA fans when provoked! The basis of their arguements always seems to come down to "WE/PES SUCKS, FIFA RULES". Wow, with points like that, I am sure to stop playing my WE and jump on the FIFA fan boat ASAP!

Last time I played FIFA though, it was the 2002 version I believe. Man, I lost interest in that game within a month! It was the same thing every single friggin' game. The gameplay was as existant as everyone's 6th finger. What made it enjoyable, its presentation and environment. Obviously those things get very old, very fast when the game itself is so predictable!

I have to think that is the only reason why so many FIFA fans stick with it. They feel as if the environment and presentation is suffice enough to make them feel as if they are playing a real simulation of football! Oh yes, also the fact that they play with clones that wear officially licensed jerseys and team trademarks.

I honestly believe though that every person that tries and plays WE/PES will always favor it over FIFA. Once they get their FULLY licensed teams and tournaments, as well as better announcing teams, people WILL transition over to WE/PES, assuming Konami keep up their level of great gameplay.

In closing though, I would like to end with the point that always seems to stick it to the opposing side, "FIFA SUCKS, WE/PES RULES!";)

Well.....it is nonsense to speak bad language and just insulting each other........doesn't mean anything but hurt others.

For people who thinks FIFA/EURO is better WE/PES, PLEASE give us DETAIL REASONABLE EVIDENCE.
e.g. ball physics, graphics, how players run, formations, players ability varieties.

I would rather play International Superstar Soccer 64 on the Ninetendo 64 from 7 or 8 years ago than any version of FIFA that has come out since FIFA 98.

Rights, or licenses, don't mean crap when the gameplay is so dang awful. Like my signature says, just because you dress my cat up in a NASA uniform, it doesn't make him an astronaut! The same thing with FIFA, it doesn't feel or play like soccer. The other EA Sports titles at least capture the spirit and basic elements of the real games but FIFA can't even get the player or ball physics correct after all these years.

You can defend FIFA as much as you want. The thing is we've all been fIFA players and moved on when we found something way, way better. How many people have come over to the FIFA forum and said "I used to love WE/PES but now I've seen the light and play FIFA because it's so real." People come over from FIFA 2-3 times a week on here saying they used to play FIFA and now have will never touch the game again because they realise how crap the game was in comparison.

In career mode on Fifa u get 5 seasons only then game over...pathetic, no longetivity whatsoever.:kader:

Further proof you've never played PES/WE. It takes about 2 seconds to download an option file to get real names.

Bah... We should all start ignoring pricks like these who come over to our forums and try to diss PES/WE without cold hard facts as to why FIFA is better than PES/WE. I mean, hundreds of good gaming publications(barr the yanks who ain't know ****) use PES/WE as the yardstick for footie games and always SHOCKINGLY gives FIFA a lower score. Why is that so? Maybe it's because PES/WE now on the PS2 has better presentation and graphics than FIFA?(As proven in previous threads). Or is it because FIFA plays like a highly charged pong, while PES3 plays like authentic footie, giving you the ups and downs of a footie game? Perhaps it could be due to the immersive experience of PES3 with NO scripted play and detailed controls, forcing players to make the best out of their players on the ball based on their stats. Nevermind, no point arguing with blind bats who probably have never played the game. Go waste your money on FIFA if you want to, I don't even bother buying the pirated version now! And I believe thousands have done so and even more will do so when PES becomes more stable on the PC.

Warez is a golden example as to why it is a good thing.

Its a tough decision as to wether to waste a dvd/cd on this piece of bloat ware.

Anybody who has ever played football or is actually a fan knows that pes is 10x better in the gameplay department.

I guess this thread just proves that ppl will always buy a **** game/addon no matter how much is charged and how **** the game is, perhaps thats why we see the sims at the top of the charts every farking addon and britney dpears and co at the top of the record charts.

This guy Ric Flair has bad taste. Ric Flair the Wrestler WAS good in his prime like Fifi. But now they are both crap.

Downloaded it, played it, but I cannot go back!! Looked awful, very bad gameplay and bad graphics. Played two games and uninstalled immediatelly.

When I played this crap :D I thought I was playing an ice hockey YUUUKKKK its discusting, not even close to be a soccer game. The passes are very fast, so unrealistic, ball physics are not even close to what WE7i has.

UEFA 2004 is Horrible!!!!!! ;)

Not to be offensive or anything, but every player in pes looks japanese. The animation is weird. We could go on alll day arguing about the faults of each game...... but we wont.

I just see players in EURO 2004 (and FIFA 04) look like zombies with wrong proportion of bodies and heads. Animations in EURO 2004 are very weird though. Players ALWAYS kick balls without looking at them.

Well...we could go on all day telling you that how PES/WE series is far much much better than FIFA series and FIFA is nothing but crap.

we all have our own oppinions, i'm not saying that pes is crap. Its a great game, when i said the euro 2004 ai was much better, i meant it was much better than fifa 2004 ai. about everyplayer looking japanese, i may have been high right then....;) I was probably thinking of something else. My point was that you could look at different things.
Shooting: at range and on the edge of the box shooting in pes is really difficult to get on target.... or even close. On the other hand, pes's shooting looks a lot better when your on breakaways and on close shots. Just things like that mostly its what you prefer. The free feeling when you play pes is good, but also when you look at otb in euro (because in fifa otb was too scripted) you see many different possibilities. Its just things like that, a matter of preference. Preffering fifa myself sometimes its hard to look into the other game and find good things about it. You have to realize they are both great games otherwise they wouldn't be as close competetors as they are.

no they're not, they're competitors because of 7 year olds, Christmas presents to kiddies, die-hard fanboys and FIFA's marketing ahem....cough cough...techniques. If sales were based solely on how good each game was, PES would sell 1000 copies to FIFA's 1.

This latest EA effort is every bit as horrible as all of them to date..where to their millions go?

dunno about u lot but pro evolution out sold fifa in most North London shops.......Fact.........that says it all.....people buying pro evo compared to people buyin fifa where 3 to 1. It might be different elsewhere.

There are no 9 year olds who i know who play fifa. Perhaps in my location things are a bit different. We'll see next year when fifa 2005 takes on we 8. I was a bit too busy this year to really look in depth. Next year i'll have much more time. I know i'm not the only one who wishes the games were sort of put together to make one really cool game. Its obvious ea put a lot more effort into fifa 2004 and euro 2004 than previous versions. Sometimes its still not enough though. I hope they put in a lot more effort next year.

In east Asia, I'm quite sure that a lot more people playing WE than FIFA. WE is even the 2nd best selling PS2 game in Japan!(among all the PS2 games, including games other than sports)

I just hope EA gives up its license and stops insulting football/soccer.

Then Konami can produce the best game with FIFA's license.

So that's why I hope people stop paying money to EA, the evil, who always cheats us and insults football.

Totally agree !! Not just Asia, in England and other Euro countries are the same. Everyone know WE/PES is a better soccer game than FIFA. People who say FIFA is the best soccer game will be treat as a moron/freak LoL. People live outside Japan would try hard to pick up the WE (Japan version), ofcourse the game is presented in Japanese, but why people still play the game, even the game is full of unknown characters? ITs because the perfect gameplay and fun, unexpectable excitement!

For some people, its hard to ask them to accept new thing, maybe this is the western style, people will do all they can to defence what they think is great, and never listen to other side. I was a FIFA fans, and insist to tell myself FIFA is the only soccer game, but once got a touch with WE/PES, I'd never look back to FIFA, however, I still purchase FIFA every year just to hope EA did something to improve the game as close as WE. but that is NO, FIFA just giving us disappointment each year. And insulting soccer more further! So why we still have to give our money to FIFA that crapy evil game? all they want is money, nothing else!

See what EA bring us in EURO 2004, how dare they take out diving header and bicycle kick!?!! And put them back into EURO 2004 as a new features!!!??? They gonna be kidding me! It made people feel dumb. We can expect EA will put back customizable tournament, player/team edit mode back into FIFA 2005, and tell us that is their new invent features! Hey, but don't forget, they are all in pervious FIFA version already, they just took them out and put them back in as a new selling point. I feel sorry to FIFA fans.....
