It depends on your players, I like this ones

---------------GK---------------

----DR----DC----DC----DL----

---------------DM--------------

----MR-------------------ML----

---------------AM---------------

-------SC------------SC--------

I also like to play with 2 DM, instead of 1 DM and 1 AM

Like Cody:

---------------GK---------------

----DR----DC----DC----DL----

---------------DM--------------

----MR-------------------ML----

---------------AM---------------

-------SC------------SC--------

with DR, DL, MR and ML moving respectively to DMR, DML, AMR and AML

couldn't agree more. If you get 0 goals against, you are already sure of a draw, and you only need 1 goal to win

hear, hear
indeed your defense is more important then your attack at first

i dont like that aspect of cm... because IRL quite a few teams go by the "attack is the best form of defense" mentality... and often quite successfully... but it is impossible to recreate in CM :(

well, IRL most teams build on their defense too

You are quite vulnerable playing "Gung Ho" and "Pressing" in real life as well, if you don't have fast and strong defenders.

yes..... but in my CM experience, i've never had any success with a gung ho strategy (apart from some wacky 2-4-4 formulas in CM Italia (H) )............ all my best games had defensive midned tactics.... and i would have prefered it to be different :(

Long live defense! I hate attacking tactics, the tactic I had the most success with was a 5-4-1 tactic(H) It was on CM4 though, and on 03/04 it doesn't seem to work really :S

i cna get Gungho to work, but trust me, play defesivly to start.

As Cody says, if you get 0 goals against, suddenly everything looks rosey

I always back on 5-1-3-1-1 if I think I should defense by hard. Mostly with Kapo behind Cisse then.

Damn, how stupid can I be? I wanted to play with 12 man LOL :D
no I mean 5-1-2-1-1 ofcourse

well, it works fine if you want to defense by hard(for example: when you try to defend a one goal lead) and you should have an AMC who can give long passes and can score a goal aswell(like Kapo)

here's screenie of the tactic I will try to send it to you in just second m8 ;)
