Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz has admitted he misses life at Manchester United amid speculation that his position is in serious threat this summer.
Real's relative failure in the UEFA Champions League has heaped intense pressure on the Portuguese boss to steer his team of Galacticos to the Spanish title, but Valencia are currently topping the table.

Should Los Merengues fail to win La Liga, it is expected that Queiroz will depart and, with Walter Smith only a short-term appointment as Sir Alex Ferguson's number two, some reports have claimed that United would welcome the former South Africa manager back to Old Trafford.

"I have friends in England and it's clear that I miss Manchester," Queiroz told a Portuguese radio station.

"They valued my work there and it was always recognised.

"I will only remain at Real Madrid if the fans and the president are happy with me."

Queiroz was hugely popular at United, particularly with the players, but Ferguson felt he could not stand in the way of allowing his assistant to take up such an incredible opportunity to coach the superstars at El Santiago Bernabeu.

I'd love to have him back if he is sacked.

He'd be wise to go back to Man. Utd., but I have a feeling he'll be the next Portugal boss after Euro2004 :o

It would only be a good move for Querioz if he were to go back to OT. He still needs to learn about managing and SAF is the man for the job to show him the ropes

BTW Shouldnt this be in the Manchester United Thread?

No it shouldn't.

You don't expect the Madrid fans to click on the Manchester United thread do you?

Definitely. If he comes back to Man. United, he will bring back more experience from being the manager at Real.

The players liked him and we liked owning the trophy.

He can come back and oh yeah bring Becks back while yer at it! ;)

Seriously though, it would be great to get him back so we could put an end to all this Arsenal winning the league nonsense! :crazyboy:

Although they thoroughly deserved it and are a credit to English football. :)

I don't think He can just come back and resume his old position, Walter Smith has that role now and has been good friends with Ferguson for like 20 years now, Smith was also his assistant back in the eighties. I don't see him being fired, so that Queiroz can have his old job back.

Jim Smith? what the **** (H)

Walter Smith's contract ends at the end of the season, I could've sworn he was only signed by Fergie so he can help sort out that defence, which he has done, and a very good job doing so.

I can't see him being here next season.

If Carloz comes back to United, upon Alex Ferguson's imminent retirement, Queiroz can take over in the long run.

Since Queiroz like Becks so much, he should bargain and say I'll come back if Becks comes back.
and Ronaldo will come as well!
hahaahaa

I'm dreaming obviously but imagine this line up

----------Ronaldo-------Ruud----------

--Giggs-------Scholes---------------C. Ronaldo

------------------------Becks------------------

--O'Shea-----Silv-------Rio-----------Gaz

-----------------Howard--------------------------

if Carlos stays in United for a couple more years, when Fergie retires he can be manager! He's the perfect candidate with tons of football knowledge.

If he returns he'll attract a lot more players.

Becks as the sole DM :o

Becks can partner a DM but he is in no way shape or form a true DM...

Anywayz I wouldn't be truly surprised if Perez sacks Queiroz. He sacked Del Bosque even when Del Bosque won the CL so if Queiroz doesn't win anything then he's definately a goner...

garlei

Becks can partner with Keane, Butt, Phil, Djemba, Kleberson.

interesting. how about this?

----------------------------Ruud-----------

---------------Scholes--------------------

---Giggs----------------Becks---------C.Ronaldo

-----------------Keane-----------------------

---O'shea---Siv----Rio-------------Gaz

------------------Howard------------------

All five attacking players have the class to move around and create Havoc. Becks and Keane to marshall the midfield. Becks pushese up when needed. Scholes drops back. Gaz and O'Shea to give supporting attacking power. Keane stays back to cover.

Anyway I think Fergie would welcome Carlos to return as well. Cross your fingers my fellow Reds fan. Carlos IS the missing piece. He'll sort our defence and create a new playing style suitable for our players. We have a lot of talent! Let's use it wisely.

:O:O:O

LOS GALACTICOS!! lol

That team would own Arsenal and Chelsea, but in reality, Fergie has way too much pride to buy Becks again and Becks has way too much pride to join United while Fergie is there. As for Ronaldo he would be the perfect signing, United need some glamour back at the club with a true world class superstar in the first eleven, but once again i don't see him going to United. Only way Real would sell him is to a club who will pay a mind blowing fee, which imo only Chelsea can afford.

Becks could come back if he knows eventually Carlos will become manager, and his madrid friends may join him. But that would warp United's image. United would become an international side more than an English side. If Carlos really becomes manager of Man U, I think that is what United will become. It will move towards a real madrid image.

sigh. who am I kidding. Becks to Chelsea. sigh

Hardly any EPL clubs are made of a majority of English players in the 11 as it is.

Help?

1) Because being a manager of a big club is better than being and assistant manager of another big club.
2) New experience

And we will gladly have Quieroz back, unless Perez will finally realise that it's not the coaches problem of how a team defends, but his on problem. Why would he just appoint himself as a manager will be the same thing  .

Man. Utd. need him, don't they :p

I question his decisions sometimes but all-in-all I like him

I hope he stays

WE must remember that this is his hirst year as manager for the world's biggest team.;)

How can anyone succeed at Real is the question??? The guy who was there last one the champions league the year before (before milan last year), and he got fired... then Quieroz a new manager is supposed to come in and win everything or die? C'mon... that's what it's sounding like. I feel bad for the guy and hope he comes back to Man United.

Damn, I really hope comes back home to United.

It'll give the players a much needed boost ahead of the new season and get their confidence back.

He might even have a couple of other young unknown superstars that he could recomend to Fergie.
