View Full Version : Friends!
Not sure if any of you watch it at all, but I try to catch episodes every once in a while. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's a TV show that has been out here for 10 years now.
Tonight they aired the season finale and the last show they will ever show. It was pretty good, but kinda sad that it won't be back on again. Before they played the last show, they had a "Best of Friends" for an hour, which was real good.
Anyone watch it or pay any attention to the show?:p
hanek45 07-05-2004, 09:42:AM I was gonna make a thread about this.. but whatever..
I didnt liked the finale that much, it was too focused in Rachel and Ross. I didnt like that Jory and Chandler let Monica break the table!! :$. I did like the final scene tough :) I didnt like the way Rachel looked.. hmmm i dont know, the serie rocks and ill continue to watch the repetitions over and over :)
Caponedawg 07-05-2004, 09:44:AM I'm glad this sorry excuse for a show is over. I'm more sad that The Practice is ending. That's the show made me want to become a lawyer.

What? Friends is one of the best shows man! Anyways, Frazure (sp?) is also ending next week. What's happening here?
And yes, why did they have to break the table?! Joey was hillarious with his last speech for the table though. :rockman:
manutd4eva 07-05-2004, 09:51:AM I kinda liked it, but not enough to miss it.

same... would catch the odd episode, good for a few laughs... I only caught the last 10 minutes... why the hell were Monica and Chandler holding BLACK baby dolls? :|
hanek45 07-05-2004, 09:56:AM just a little question concerning friends:
I think that Monica (courtney cox) is "finer" :) than Rachel(Jennifer Aniston), i dont know what you guys think, but my friends laugh at me when i say that :$ what do you guys think?? I used to have a little crush in the season she got married with chandler

lol manudt4eva...
shokz 07-05-2004, 10:14:AM Hopefully one day Channel 4 will stop showing Friends and actually put something that is actually funny in its slot.
Haha, no... Jennifer is hotter but not all that hot. She has her days I guess. ;)
Friends sucks. How the hell did it get so many seasons when AWESOME shows like Family Guy can barely get one or two in a row.
The world has gone mad. :kader:
I guess white people like it a whole lot. I think it's also pretty good though. Have you ever tried following it?
Get yourself "The best of Friends", you might find that funny.

It's not a matter of race. I'm black and I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. It's just a matter of taste.
Hakeem 07-05-2004, 10:28:AM the final episode was awesome. yeah, a bit focused on ross and rachel but it was meant to finish like that. they all had their parts in the finale and they were great.
also, excellent Gunther goodbye, he deserved it :p
oh, and they almost tricked me when rachel left and got in the plane cause it was obvious that they were ending up together but right there I thought she was leaving for real :S :p
next tuesday they release the finale on DVD. its a lame marketing move but who cares :crazyboy: (H)
hanek45 07-05-2004, 10:31:AM God, I S MUCH HATE GUNTHER... he always has this stupid expression in his face... :S
$teauA 07-05-2004, 10:59:AM Joey and Chandler are awesome I mean they made the whole show, I used to watch this show a lot when it first came out, ma sis followed it and back then u know she controlled the remote :D so I kept on watching it cas it's a funny show and then it has Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox in it :D, it's sad that it's over but I'm gonna buy all the seasons once they come out so it's all good. Oh one more thing who is gonna watch the spin-off with Matt LeBlanc with Joey?? I'll probably watch a few episodes and if it's good i'll keep on watching if not then meh.
Hakeem 07-05-2004, 11:09:AM Joey should be good (Y)
the special on Leno is right now and it started with some lame jokes by Jay but now its going great :rockman:

Yeah I'm watching it as well, it's great.
Caponedawg 07-05-2004, 11:37:AM blah the Practice was 10times better than Friends. ABC ruined it by moving it to monday nights then back to Sunday. Jackasses!!! :f***: I might also add that The Practice has Rhona Mitra :hump:
Friends is one of those shows that if i had nothing to do, id sit down and watch an episode and enjoy it....:o

same with me... I wouldn't mind if I miss a few episodes... I just watch around 3 or 4 episodes of it each season... never really a follower but I have to say it's a good show...
PhiLLer 07-05-2004, 04:24:PM Even though I'm not a fan of most American comedies, because I generally find them unfunny I have to say that I absolutely love Friends, it's up there with the best, makes me laugh every time I see it and it's a pity it's coming to an end. Though Matt LeBlanc will star in a Friends spin-off called "Joey", that might be good.
chatterbox 07-05-2004, 07:57:PM Over the last coupl' a years, Friends has become more of a soap opera. Once the characters started to get involved with eachother, it was goina be hard to maintain audiences who DID NOT WANT TO WATCH SOAP OPERAS.:kader: Friends was good, heck it was great in the early goin' but it got tempted by reality "SEX" tv and that is something that always leads to failure.:rockman:
pennington10 07-05-2004, 10:13:PM You guys are all wrong. It is all about Bob Newhart. I love watching reruins of it on TV Land. Plus it has the best series finale ever.
Honestly I am sick of these cookie-cutter sit coms that suck. Freinds might as well of been Seinfield with six people instead of four. Oh and Seinfield was alot funnier.
I am sick of hearing about Will and Grace as well. Will and Grace is the gayest piece of crap ever. If I wanted to here a bunch of faux gay people talk I would go into a Starbucks and sit down. I don't because I don't want to.
What is really sad is Cheers is ten times the sitcom than anything on today. Cliff Clavin = Genuis
Caponedawg 07-05-2004, 11:55:PM Cheers SUCKED. It was all about Different Strokes and Webster man. WEBSTER OWNZ!!

PSVFOREVER 08-05-2004, 12:06:AM In Holland they have season 1 now :ewan: So still plenty to come. (They have broadcast the newer too already)
I really like them, but not the best there is.
finally, friends is over. every show gets our pity when its the ladt episode. thats how i see it.

Maybe because you dont get our type of comedy. Its just like alot of Americans dont like british comedy because they dont get it.

It's not really that I don't understand the type of humour or jokes, it's just that they are quite unfunny and just a lot of copying going on. Kinda like saying something remotely stupid and then adding a laughing track to it so it seems funny when it really isn't that funny.
Aveirenses 08-05-2004, 08:17:AM Friends wasn't that bad, sometimes it's really funny, but other times it's just crap. Now that it's over, I guess there'll be more than just 3 stations showing reruns of it over and over. But I always feel sad when things that go on for so long come to an end.

Nah British comedy is sophisticated and cleverly written that's why its hard to get. I understand Friends comedy, all Ross has to say is "Hey" and the crowd burst into laughter i thinks thats what he meant by unfunny. I didnt mind Friends, like someone already said in this thread, it's something to watch when your bored and nothing else on.

Monty Python, Mr. Bean, Benny Hill all very sophisticatedlly (is that even a word!?) written. A Simpsons episode comes to mind where they had the author of Bridget Jone's Diary on the show and she started to say how Americans won't get her book because the comedy is so sophisticated and then they were showing her running outside being chased by police with the benny hill theme song in the backround, great stuff :rockman:

Your probably right. I dont know if its hard to get or not its just what a bunch of people have told me of yalls shows. I havent seen any british TV shows but I would like to to see how its different from here but I dont think we get any shows although I have BBC America but I dont think they show anything good.
Hakeem 09-05-2004, 11:52:AM bbc america has The Office which won the Golden Globe this year and its supposed to be great. havent watched it myself yet though.
Glorious 09-05-2004, 04:13:PM i have NEVER watched a friends show and i am so glad i don't as the ads for it are awful.
THE OFFICE IS CLASS (H) But i think you americans may find it a bit dull as it is a different kind of humour.
PhiLLer 09-05-2004, 06:10:PM What seems to happen a lot is that the laughing track or the studio audience laughing is the thing that makes people laugh in sitcoms and not the actual jokes.
adj137 09-05-2004, 06:39:PM Monthy Python is the daddy of all british comedys. Its sophisticated in its own way, theres alot of schoolboy humour.

yep. the laughing track and the live audience change the way to receive the jokes cause even if you dont think the joke is trully funny, you hear the laughs and it makes you laugh.
I love comedies without these things, Scrubs being the best example. Scrubs is some of the best stuff out there right now. hopefully they put something worthy next season before it now that Frasier is gone. or maybe moving it back to thursdays between Joey and Will & Grace

Oh hell yeah:rockman:. I love that show.
Monica was hotter than Rachel, but now they're both old and not really that hot, IMO.
PhiLLer 11-05-2004, 07:01:PM I reckon Courtney Cox is hotter than Jennifer Aniston too. The dark hair + blue eyes combo does it for me with any chick:p
Though I'd hit them both...at the same time:D
Glorious 13-05-2004, 02:39:PM they both are quite hot i must admit! :D
but we can all keep dream'n' :p
hehe
