View Full Version : Australia To Win U17 World Cup Final Against Brazil On Saturday. Yes or No?
Aussie Soccer 25-11-1999, 07:08:AM Congrates to the australian soccer team to making it through to the u17 world cup final. from what i have seen of the semi final match against the us i think we can beat brazil in the final. who agrees with me. all i have left to say is go the aussies in the final
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE
hey there from Auckland, ive been to all the pool, quarter final and semi final games held in Auckland, ive seen all the games on tv and your Aussie kids are just fantastic. They actually gave Brazil a real run for their money in the pool match which Aussie lost 2-1. The Aussie team work incredibly hard and there are some really talented players but after watching Brazil in the Semi final against Ghana last night I have to say you guys are serious underdogs. Brazil have changed gear and last night played some simply brilliant soccer. Ive watched soccer in Britain and italy live but i have to say last nights game was simply the very best game of soccer I have ever seen live. Brazil are simply unbelievable. Having said that all the way through this tournament your Aussie kids have made fools every time they play of the predictions they would lose a game. They are a true bunch of aussie battlers with talent as well. If Aussie are to win the final (Im going) then they are going to have to pull out every last scrap of everything that makes you guys so good at sport. Your team will have a huge amount of Kiwis supporting you on Saturday night, I will be one of them. Its goiung to be a sell out crowd.
Goooooooooo Aussies

AJAX supporter 25-11-1999, 07:49:AM I just think Brazil will win it, even though Australia had such a great sport year, I still think the experience of Brazil will beat the Australians.
Aussie Soccer 25-11-1999, 11:20:AM hey zzub's will most of the crowd be surrporting australia or the brazilian team.
if they are mostly surrporting australia why. is just cause our countries are basically neighbours.
I think Brazil will win it even though I ain't seen 1 game of the U-17 youth championship so I'm really guessing on what I know about the 2 countries which ain't much.
So maybe the Aussies will win it I don't know I just guess Brazil.
I hope Australia win it though.
Actually I think Aussies will win it now I think hard about it cause all I hear about them is how well they are doin' so come on u Aussies

Ronaldinho Gaucho 25-11-1999, 02:36:PM We've beat you guys onces already so I think we can do it again....Final score Brazil 2 X 0 Australia....You guys are going down...
Hi there Aussie soccer,
As you are probably aware kiwis love to beat Aussies in sport more than any other country, its the little brother thing. With your youth team however they have won over the Kiwis simply by being a great bunch of lads and mixing sheer tenacity and the battler spirit with a big lump of skill. Its great for Oceania football that you guys made the final. It was great for Oceania that the Kiwi lads beat Poland in the qualifiers (Poland knocked England out in the Euro Qualifiers.
Basically soccer over here is on a massive upswing and the ANZAC spirit is out bigtime. Nobody expected your boys to make the final, you are huge underdogs and that coupled with our countries close friendship, (you guys are sort of like our big brothers) the Kiwi fans are going to be cheering on the Aussie team.
If you ever get to London you will discover kiwis and Aussies hang out together over their in big numbers
Goooooooooo Aussiesssssssss

BRAZIL 5 X 0 AUSTRALIA
In the Pool game Australia lost to Brazil 2-1, however the Aussies scored an own goal and came back from 2-0 down. I was at the game, the Aussies deserved at the least a draw. There will be no 5-0 score. I hope you have the balls to write in here if the Aussies win or lose by only a goal or two.
One more thing and I went to the Semi final, the Brazilian players when they won on penalties ran over to the Ghana supporters and gave them the fingers and jeered the supporters, pretty slack attitude, today FIFA fined the team $10,000. The Brazilian team turned off a lot of the kiwi soccer fans by acting this way. Basically the fans tomorrow and it will be a sell out crowd, will be cheering for the Aussies.
Stating it will be 5-0 and laughing shows exactly the sort of Arrogance the Australians are the worlds best at putting in its place
Gooooooo Aussiesssssssss

Kewell the Jewell 26-11-1999, 09:28:AM Hey dudes
At last there are some intelligent people in this forum! I sick of these people who as soon as they see whos playing they just say Brazil easily! (Every Brazilian)
Australia has one of the best youth teams in the world and Brazil will always be great. But there arragonce just annoys me!!
My friend was in the U17 Aussie team for the qualifiers and knows all the guys in the team (obviously) but got dropped for the final squad!!!!!!!
well seeeya later!
AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!
Down Under 26-11-1999, 11:15:AM I would also like to say congrats to the Aussie team, you guys have done this country proud.
Hopefully we can finally show the Brazilians that we can match them at soccer, third time lucky?
I think that our lads should watch a replay of the MCG match a couple of weeks ago, maybe that will inspire them to perform and get revenge.
Also what do Australians think of our national guernsey? I much prefer the away one, it just looks better.

Eleftherios 26-11-1999, 07:21:PM From all reports australia is set for a tough game against the brazilians. Undoubltably the greatest country in the world for the sport. The tide is shifting, and in the next 5-10 years you will see the increase in teams from Australia and the US challenging for honours in the greatest game in the world. Perhaps we will see the games exposure increase as a result of the U-17s win or lose, although I think they will win on penalties. go the green and golds!!!!!
Aussie Soccer 27-11-1999, 02:21:AM i think australia has got a great future in soccer and i think we will make it to the next world cup although we have a hard route to get into it. but i think the u17's have shown thaqt australia's got a great future in soccer.
go the aussie's this afternoon
Go aussie? to bad that they lost, the game was one of the most boring Ive seen in years and compared to the one Ive watched last wenesday a complete crap (anyone that has espn should watch SaoPauloxPontePreta for the brasileiro finals, that was one of the best games I watched this year, it was a best of 3 games and in all 3 games the team that started leading lost, 3x2,1x2,3x2 )
The only good thing going for both teams were the goalies, if those kids are the future of football we are screwed.
Australia is going to beat Brazil, but it won't be easy
Astolfo
I just got back from watching the final of the Under 17 World Cup.
Brazil won on penalties after it was 0-0 at full time.
Australia were the better team and didnt deserve to lose this way.
WHERE WAS THE 5-0 SCORE??????
Way to go Aussies, you did Oceania proud
KiwiMike
ZZUB why did you think australia played better, they didnt even get a shot at the goal in the first half. In my opinion ghana should have won the cup, Brasil and australia didnt deserver to be in the finals.
edu
the Brazilians in the first half used up all their ideas, from half time on the Brazilians never looked like scoring. I thought Australia were the equal of Brazil and as the game wore on they had a couple of chances that they should have scored from, one in extra time where the striker should have scored when he broke free from the Brazilian defence.
It was so obvious being at the game that Brazil didnt have any other ideas on how to score other than to try and get leo to conjur up some magic. Brazil had more shots on goal than Australia but most of them after the first half came from Brazil taking long range shots which didnt really trouble the Aussie goalkeeper. Brazil were taking long range shots simply because they couldnt break open the Aussie defence.
Remeber Im from New Zealand, Im not Australian.
I agree about Ghana, actually the final should have been Ghana versus Brazil, however in the Final I thought it was pretty even and I would have given it to Australia simply because they were the better organised team.
Losing on penalties when you have been the more intelligent team is not fair
Aussie Soccer 28-11-1999, 06:18:AM i think the game was pretty even. i think that brazil were the better attacking team and australia were the better defending team. to the person that said the game was boring i think that u aren't a true fan of football then cause i really enjoyed the game. i think it was a great battle between great attack and great defence. the australian keeper i think can become the next australian open age keeper. anyway better luck next time to the aussies
