I think he is Dennis Bergkamp, which is your favorite?

Grrrr! What a moronic topic. There is no such thing as a best 'player'. Would Bergkamp keep well? Would Westerveld score many goals? Would Hyypia make runs and crosses on the wing better than anyone else? Its impossible to say - you can only have the best in each position. Please - no more 'Best player' or 'Best striker' topics - every class player in the Premiership has his own nuances that make him great.

Except Carl Leaburn, of course.

Poyet is my favorite (in premier) but doubt that he's the best.

Drinky makes a good point, except you're forgetting that there is a player who does all this, except goalkeeping, and is considered by most as the best player in the Prem League. Keano!

He does everything, and excells at all (again, except keeping). Defense by pressuring opponent's backs, defense by coming back all the way to own box, midfield control, ball possession, leadership, guarding and marking, crossing, running, offense from range (ie long-kicks), offense from inside the box (ie 1st goal vs Juve), basically everything.

No wonder he is the highest-paid player playing (Fowler isn't playing) in the League. And by the way, have I mentioned Manchester all apart without him?

I think drinky is partially right. However you can pick a "best" player in terms of what he does for a team on a regular bases. For example: in the ´86 world cup you might say that Maradona was solely responsable for Argentina winning the Cup, he made others play better than they would normally and gave them more confidance. Without Maradona Argentina wouldn´t have won the WC. Not because of his goals and his "hand of God", but because he made, by his presence, Argentina play better. In ´90 he couldn´t do that anymore. So in that respect I think that Dennis Bergkamp could be considered one of the best, allthough he is currently coming back from injury and his game has less flair.

How about this question::
WHO IS THE MOST VALUABLE PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYER...IN TERMS OF VALUE TO THEIR TEAM??

In my opinion that would be Harry Kewel. I think Leeds would be mid table without him.
Also, even though I don't really like him...Beckham is incredibly valuable to Man U. I doubt they could find someone to replace his vicious crosses. Even though Keane is excellent, I think there are many others that could do the same things he does for Man U... Bergkamp is a great player, but Arsenal are so loaded up front they would get by just fine without him. Youre right Bolso...Poyet is one of my favorites and I'd hate to think wher Chelsea woud be without him.

Deep sigh...
Player of the year awards, as you may have noticed, usually go to the most high profile players, as opposed to those which have done well. Mart Poom is a superb keeper for Derby, but because he is Estonian, and plays for Derby, and he's a goalkeeper, he won't get an award. David Beckham, however, had an average season last year, but because he's such a big name, he was in all sorts of votes. Its not hard to see that there is no way of determining a player of the year, Hasapis16, as everything is subjective. If you wanted it to be fair, you'd have to use Carling Opta's stats, but then they wouldn't show the high-profile players doing well, which wouldn't give as much publicity and...
Do you see? Being 'good' is very subjective, and each person will say someone different, even though the true answer is no, as every player has a different role to play.
