Rob, or anyone else who's in North America and played this game and enjoyed it - please email this site (IGNPSX) and tell them what you think of this retarded review - these guys know nothing about soccer - he says there's no licence - so I guess he couldn't figure out the connection between 'Manchester' and 'Manchester United', or 'Beckhem' and 'Beckham' - requires too much brain power for them.
Please email them because these guys also write for regular videogame magazines and these reviews affect videogame sales - imagine how this will lower the sales of this game - and it'd be a distinct probability that Konami WON'T even bother to release a PS2 version of ISS. I'm not overreacting because ISS Pro Evolution was incredibly hard for me to find - none of the stores near me would get the game and I had to order it from EBWORLD.com - the PS2 version might not even make it to North America. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif
Please, even if it's a one line email telling them they suck.

i looked all overe the place but i don't think they post email address in fear of this problem. my friend's brother writes for them in the N64 section and he just came home from college. i'll ask him how to contact reviewers.

i too had trouble getting it. it was strange. my local software etc. didn't have it but one farther downtown had a bunch. i had to go an extra 20 miles ut it was worth it. i just wish i could play it on a playstation. i'm using Virtual game station and the graphics look pretty bad on my 19" monitor. i'd rather have a fuzzy TV hide all those jaggies that come with playstation games.

that reviewer didn't even look at the customize feature. "no difference in builds" my ass. i guess this guy drew the wrong straw and was forced to churn out the review the same day it came out. i can't believe he couldn't even pick out ronnaldo. oh well. the playstation2 one better come out because it looks spectacular. i love how the ISS team always creates very accurate uniforms.

Rob, get a 2nd hand playstation - it'll be very very cheap - there are a ton of other good cheap games for it, and Evolution looks INCREDIBLE on a large TV.
I really am worried about the PS2 version not coming out in North America - these idiots don't know anything about football, and they think button mashing Fifa is the best.
I already emailed them; the adress is
psx_mail@ign.com, please email them.
Evolution is so amazing - it's easily the most realistic football game ever made!

Schumacher - please please write to them, if they get enough letters then maybe they'll see that their heads are up their asses.

I wrote to them as soon as I read that review, even invited them here to see what real people think of the game. Theire reply will be (if they bother) that they give proper reviews, while all those who gave ISS high reviews were biased... Who cares about them anyway? We have it, we love it, and so do most sane people - Ha!

Ok, I still have not played ISS Evolution Pro, but I have played ISS 98 on N64 over 350 times and I think I know well about the controls and gameplay, which never ceases to become more realistic and amaze me day by day. When I saw this review I was outraged and I couldn't stop thinking about how much this guy sucked, or how stupid he was not to figure out how to manipulate the game's features. For example,

[So what is this title doing on the market? Good question. It is a shadow of former ISS releases, it carries no license of its own, and is at best a mediocre effort on all fronts.]

-Ok that was his FIRST crap comment. Doesn't this piss you off ? This just tells you how much he really knows how to play and how he is releasing his anger on the game because he probably got his ass whooped within seconds of playing.

[Since Pro Evolution does not have a license, you have the chance to guide a bunch of made-up players through a single match, league or cup. There is no World Cup here. Nay, not even an MLS Cup. Here we have the International Cup, Konami Cup, European Cup, African Cup, American Cup and Asian Cup, none of which officially exist in the world. Of course, these things could be overlooked if the game was super-fun to play. But it isn't.]

-Ok, since when was the MLS cup an important tournament ? And who gives a crap about the made-up players ? It's not like EA has actually given justice to player names in their games. They either reduce their actual statistics or get their backgrounds wrong, like in FIFA 99, Basherou Salou, or at least that's how I think one spells it, was a black player for Borussia Dortmund in 1998, and they made him a white and German-like player.

[ISS has previously been all about gameplay, but this time out, it seems completely forgotten. The controls are unresponsive and difficult to master. That is, when you can assume control. Pro Evolution follows a disturbing trend in soccer games: automatic player switching. When on defense, the computer selects the player you control. It always selects the player closest to the ball, eliminating the possibility of cutting the angle to the goal with a further-off player]

-Ok dumbass, in the controller options, I assume it is just like the N64, where you can change it to switch the players manually. And the controls are easy to master, if you're not a mentally challenged and impatient fool.

[My only gripe with the graphics is that characters have the same general look. There are relatively few discernable body types, and there's only so much you can do with mustaches and haircuts.]

-This coming from an idiot who thinks that FIFA 2000 was an incredible effort in developing football games on video game consoles.

[I was excited to play this after getting into other ISS titles. Bottom line, this game was a letdown. It doesn't even begin to measure up to FIFA. It isn't even as much fun as Infogrames Striker Pro 2000. There, I've said it. Save your money for the promising MLS title coming out in a month. --Chris Carle]

-This guy is fuxed up. He thinks the ISS series doesn't measure up to FIFA >???!??!?! WTF is this guy smoking ?!?!?!?
ISS surpasses FIFA in every area of gameplay.

This guy is a total fool. He is going to mislead many readers and drive them not to buy this game, and to settle with crap like FIFA 2000. I wonder how much time he even spent playing ISS Evolution Pro.

Comments:

Chris Carle, I think you are an incompetent fool.

Kappa - I'm with you completely - u can't understand how utterly PISSED OFF I am at this MORON - you see that red face next to my post? That's what I look like now!

Check out this moron's final line;
"You can also toggle player name calling on. But since these are a bunch of guys no one knows about, that is an exercise in futility."
What a bloody moron - I guess it takes too much brain power to realize who Rivaldho, Bekhem, and Zidene are. He didn't even mention the RPG-like Master League mode that is the most addictive part of the game. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to email these (I'm trying not to swear) 'idiots' again, and again, and again until they do something about this - because this could really screw over the sales of the game, and in turn screw us over when the PS2 & Dolphin versions are to come out.

[excuse me, I have to go outside and scream]

Man, I almost cried when I read this review... both of laughter and despair! I trust Ign 64 for proper reviews, but IGN PC and IGN PSX are, in a word, crap. For example they gave the amazing Toca 2 for the PC 5.5! Are they mad? If you are wondering if ISS is worth getting, then look at these scores - 9/10 Offical PSX Mag UK, 97% Play Mag, 98% Power Playstation, 5/5 Computer and Video Games, ECTS Interactive Entertainment Awards Winner (ie BEST IN SHOW!!!!!!). I'll write to them, but they'll just rip the piss out of me, I know. Sigh...

The review was posted on Thursday, and we emailed them the same day, but there was no mention of our emails on yesterdays (Friday's) update to the site.

'ESPN MLS GAME NIGHT'

What these so called experts don't know is that this is EXACTLY the same game as ISS Pro Evolution but you take out the 16 Master League teams, and replace them with 12 MLS teams. These morons think it's a brand new game. Can most American soccer fans even NAME the 12 MLS teams?

I have no respect for IGN any more - they made a HUGE reviewing mistake, and they cover it up by acting like nothing ever happened.

i'm american and a soccer fan, but i can't name the MLS teams because i could care less http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif of the 4 or 5 years it's been around i haven't seen more than 7 or 8 games. i've never watched a full game; too frustrating. one guy gets the ball, tries to dribble 3 guys, loses it. the next guy gets the ball, tries to dribble three guys, loses it. same thing the whole game.

what the fu*k has happened to the n64 version of the ISS game.

It was going to be called ISS Millenium, but some people r saying it isn't going to be relesed even though Konami has completed the programming of the game (complete with hi-res graphis)

whats going on with it??

does anyone know???

I can name the MLS teams, and I'm English. There's the Metrostars, LA Galaxy, NE Revolution, and erm... Oh forget it!
Oh, you guys, trust IGN 64, they claim ISS 98 was at no 10 in best N64 games of all time!

Oh man, this is funny - look what they say in their preview of ESPN MLS, and ISS Evo (Same game) -

PREVIEW MLS - It's not surprising, then, that their new Major League Soccer game plays so well. American developer Saffire's logo appears at the beginning of the game, but it seems like they were enlisted mainly to handle localization matters. The actual game engine is that used to power the most recent of KCEJ's J-League games, which became ISS in the States. ESPN MLS GameNight looks good and controls very precisely, making it a very impressive early console outing for the fledgling MLS license.

ISS REVIEW - ISS has previously been all about gameplay, but this time out, it seems completely forgotten. The controls are unresponsive and difficult to master.

And then, the funniest bit - Save your money for the promising MLS title coming out in a month.

These people are so thick, they don't even realise it's the same game!!! Has anybody emailed them to tell them this?

The ignorance here is in thinking that Americans are ignorant about footy. Do you know who the best team in the Luxembourg League was this year? I thought not its Dudelange.

Also IMO I think IGN had a point for the game may have excellent gameplay but its hidden underneath the inferior graphics & sound. As compared to a oldie but a goodie: FIFA Road to World Cup 98:

Graphics: the more primitive polygons look great & add to the realism of the game. And you can actually see the field w/out pixelezation, etc

Sound: Motson, Andy Gray, Blur & Chumbawamba (music) chants etc vs ISS's commentary & chants: No Contest. FIFA

Features: ISS fans. For FIfa RTWC 98 you can play Let's see: Liberia in World Cup Qualifying or go to the League System & Play Bundesliga. Who's ignorant now? vs. Konami Cup? Duh. No Contest. Don't 4get unlimited customization of FIFA vs. the limited variance of ISS. Although in fairness recent FIFAs could stand for an improvement Amen.

Peace out & Let us All Not Call Names but Go for the Gold. The IGN review was fair IMO 6.5 score is GOOD! That means its above average. But however ISS games are Taz to FIFA's Ric Flair. Wanna see some biased ISS reviewing?
www.videogamereviews.com (http://www.videogamereviews.com) & click on ISS; they gave it all 5-5 and another sign of sarcasm: There is a space where you can put down Hours You Played the Game. Most everybody put down ridiculous amounts like 1,000,000 hours. Puhleeze! :D :D
