View Full Version : Gabriel Heinze
shokz 28-05-2004, 11:16:PM Left-sided central defender who plays for PSG, BBC "understands" that Manchester United and PSG have agreed on a £6m transfer fee.
So what im asking is from those who do watch the French League. Is he good?, and is he worth £6m(€9m)?
mark77 28-05-2004, 11:19:PM He plays left back with PSG from what I saw.
manutd4eva 28-05-2004, 11:20:PM I understand he was chosen in the French League 11 for the past season. Started for Argentina I think in their last match and played pretty well I've heard.
I guess he'll replace Silves in partnership with Rio.
Silves---------Heinze----------Rio----------Gary
What about O'Shea?:S
::shinji:: 28-05-2004, 11:20:PM I know him from his days at Sporting, was a solid defender and a hard tackler from what I can remember..

Is Heinze a household name? If it is, we would have completed our need for a defender.
Yes. If bought by United, he is sure to make a great combo with Rio Ferdinand;)

Gabriel Heinze (PSG): his usual fighting spirit alongside Sorin was marvellous. His club has agreed to let him go and the fans are already crying about his departure.
I wish Madrid would take a look at him :$

Ben, He is very much worth 6 million pounds;)
Vinnie Jones 28-05-2004, 11:28:PM Gabriel Heinze is a very reliable defender. He hardly makes a mistake and when he is in good physical condition he is usually extremely effective on man marking. I remember when he was playing in Valladolid he was extremely promissing and Sporting got him in a year long loan i think. He didn´t do very well but i don´t think it was his fault. The manager kept putting him away from his natural position and even the club was experiencing a troublesome period. I think he is good asset for Man Utd.
shokz 29-05-2004, 12:06:AM Thanks lads. :)(Y)
-William- 29-05-2004, 01:11:AM He is good but I dont think worth that much
Man Utd is certainly splashing the cash in off-season now. 7 million for Smith and 6 for Heinze, and they'll probably spend more on a AMC.
SB9Dragon 29-05-2004, 01:43:AM Gabriel Heinze is a very good defender, and Man U will definately be smart in signing him...
A shame Inter didn't...

to be honest, i think that's why they bought Smith ;)
mhflierman 29-05-2004, 04:39:AM Looks like a great signing. Argentinian defenders are always good. Hard tacklers, aggressive. Could partner Rio in central defence. I'd like to see another fullback too though.
andremc11 29-05-2004, 06:01:AM I think he is very good.He is worth around 5mil but PSG have added on a penalty fee of 1mil for the Ronaldinho saga thing.
I think Lucio would have been better though.I wanted Ferguson to sign Lucio,Mexes and Ferrari to improve his defence.
panxoman 29-05-2004, 06:07:AM Barcelona was after him last season. He was compared with Puyol.
He's a good signing.:p
champdave 29-05-2004, 06:32:AM Heinze has been excellent for PSG. The only time I saw him "in the flesh" was when Monaco played PSG at the Stade Louis II, (the match finished 1-1) and he looked very solid. Strong in the air and on the ground, not scared and looks great for £6M as he is quite young too.
Struggled to control Cissé tho in the league (H)

Should make the game against Liverpool very interesting if both players are fit. Jinxed them now havent i.
northstar 29-05-2004, 01:48:PM Good young player. All the big clubs were watching him and if they werent they are stupid. But yes he is still a bit raw and not able to control the best players. I watched PSG about 10 times this year and when he faced players like Cisse, Elber, Rothen and Morientes he was not that great. Still a good signing. Rather expensive though but there must have been competition for his transfer.
shokz 03-10-2004, 11:23:AM Dug up this thread because I thought I'd share my opinion on one of Manchester United's latest signings.
Great signing and another masterstroke by Sir Alex Ferguson, the performances he's been putting in you would've thought he had been playing here for years, a very consistent player. Good cross, excellent tackle, great header of the ball, can take a freekick, and his passing will also improve once he has a better understanding(learns the language, player movements) with the other players. Tough as **** and likes to roughen up the opposition, we love that.
Will become a huge fan favourite at Old Trafford, mark my words.

The guy's insane. He's a lunatic.
He's a Devil!:rockman:
mufc_daddy 03-10-2004, 01:34:PM I think he will beat Rooney for the best newcomer award at the end of this season.
We certainly have bought some gritty players for this season.
Smith + Heinze + Rooney = :f***: BADASS
Worth every penny.
:rockman:
Thelonious 03-10-2004, 05:41:PM He has definately been a great signing , left back was one of our weaknesses since Irwin left , Silvestre and O shea were never very convincing.
I think he already is a fan favourite.

Errr. . . Gaby does speak English well my friend and eventough he is Argentinian he also speaks Welsh very well cos` he grew up in a Welsh immigrant community in Argentina :)
Yeah, I`ve been dreamin` of a natural left footed left back for some years. Silvestre could`ve done the job but his cross is not good. And now we finally got one, and better yet he is a latin American, the place where great left backs are born . . .
Frostwolf 03-10-2004, 08:01:PM You'd be shot if you thought Welsh was similar to English, Hans (H)

I know that they`re different ( the longest street name in Wales is just :|:|:| ), but I read on his profile at a soccer magazine here that the guy is really a multilanguage person ( can`t blame him tough ).
Vagegast 04-10-2004, 08:45:AM I like the Czech Heinze better (H)
mufc_daddy 04-10-2004, 11:25:AM I'll get u a medal. (H)
Larry 04-10-2004, 12:38:PM this guy is a great signing. ive watched every united game this season and i have been happy with every performance he has given. he works hard which is very very good
he is fast becoming one of my favourite united players along with ronaldo ruud rio giggs and smithy :)
Guillaume 04-10-2004, 11:39:PM Yeah, Heinze is a solid defender, everytime i saw him with PSG especially against Marseille he made good games. He has a temperament of warrior, and it's very good for a team like Man Utd.
Stotty 05-10-2004, 02:04:AM Heinze is ******* class! (H) His long passses, tackling, everything is pretty awesome. He's one of those guys who's big tackles can really lift a team!
There was a great quote from ITV the other week, can't remember it exactly, soemthing like.
"Man United have upped the gear a bit here, and here's Heinze, and man who does everything in only one gear, 6th gear:mrpimp: " (H)
Gabriel is growing to be one of my favorite players from the NT.
You will never see him give anything but 100% on the ifeld.
He has lethal crosses, a powerful header, and is a very strong tackler.
You guys are gonna love him at Old Tafford.
I wish he would have come to Madrid. :(

ganengjdead 06-10-2004, 01:39:AM Ah guys.
I regret him. He was the heart of PSG.
People wouldn't believe me when I described him for manutd.com. Now they know(H)
