View Full Version : Serie A: 2000-2001 preview
Inter09 25-06-2000, 06:23:AM Serie A is still a ways away(longer now b/c of Olympics), but teams are starting to form their basic lineup. Here are the teams that I think will be the best:
1. Inter-They are moving in the right direction with the players they are getting-Frey, Pirlo, Sukur, Farinos-and they are keeping Recoba, Vieri, Blanc, Georgatos.
2. Lazio-I don't like them that much, but they will continue to be good next year, still hard to see what their team will be like, but with Lopez, maybe Crespo, and their current players they will be in the top.
3. Roma-They are picking up HUGE name players-Emerson,Batistuta-and already have a good team. They have good players but I don't think they will gel that well together by just putting together a team of money players.
4. Juventus-O'Neil, Paramatti, the new players, Davids, Iuliano, Van der Sar, Del Piero, the old-They will still be good. Not top though.
5. Parma-They picked up Micoud and could pick up someone from Lazio for Crespo-Still have Thuram, Cannavaro, Amoroso(if he does any good) and Fuser-so they will still be there.
5. Milan-Not moving in a great direction-but with Shevchenko,Ambrosini,Gattuso, Guly, Abbiati, and Maldini they will be ok.
6. Udinese-They must keep Fiore and some of the other players to stay good. They usually manage to somehow field a Uefa Cup team every year even though they lose their top players every year. De Sanctis is a good young goalie too. They DEFINITELY need Jorgenson too.
Please give feedback on these teams and others that you like for the coming season.
Emerson 25-06-2000, 06:50:AM Who said I am going to Roma? Real Madrid wants to pay $35 milion for me, so I don't think Leverkusen will sell me for just $20 milion to Roma. And, since I have a contract til 2002, Leverkusen will do what is best for them.
Kostas 7 25-06-2000, 07:50:AM I don't think Georgatos will stay. All signs show he will be back to Olympiakos next year even if it's on loan, he's home sick. Every chance he gets he comes back to Greece and trains with Olympiakos.
Zambrotta 25-06-2000, 08:28:AM I think you are an idiot Emerson if you forgot that you fool have signed a 100% valid contract last year...
Emerson 25-06-2000, 08:56:AM No sir, Leverkusen still can keep me if Roma doesn't want to pay the amount Leverkusen want. Of course, I got memory problems, and I don't remember ever signing a contract with Roma, but that's another story.
Zambrotta 25-06-2000, 09:22:AM Now listen up folks:
Roma could be the real deal next year.
They have very good chances on signing TOLDO and moving Montella for CANNAVARO.
Toldo; Samuel-Aldair-Cannavaro; Cafu-Zanetti-Emerson-Candela; Totti; Batistuta-Delvecchio
Inter09 26-06-2000, 04:34:AM Roma could be pulling an Inter of past years by buying a one season team to try and push through a title. Who knows. More input people...
gaucho 26-06-2000, 05:16:AM About Roma's defence, Samuel hasnt been the same since an injurie last summer( last winter for u guys)and right now is performing below of the Argentinian league average, so i want to know if Zago(antonio carlos) performed well in last season, coz otherwise they need a (another)central defender bad.
BTW: Samuel's lefty.
salutes, gaucho
PolishPower 26-06-2000, 04:59:PM Toldo to Roma? but I read last week that Peruzzi was going to Roma, so is that transfer off?
Zambrotta 26-06-2000, 08:24:PM DAMN IT JUVE! TRADE ZIDANE (his wife wants to go to Spain and Barca are keen on him) FOR FIGO AND GET FIORE!
Yo Polish: Peruzzi will be Lazio's no.1.
FREY IS GREAT! HOPE HE'LL REPLACE BARTHEZ SOON!
Marchegiani will quit I guess...won't play the second keeper.
PolishPower 27-06-2000, 03:00:AM Yeah I remembered it wrong, I think Peruzzi to Lazio is a good move for them...
Inter09 27-06-2000, 06:06:AM Peruzzi to Roma?? Whatever. Peruzzi has already signed for Lazio. Toldo might go to Roma. Frey is at Inter. Where is Marchegiani going? What about Fiore?
Icabola 27-06-2000, 06:20:AM -Riquelme is heading to Milan!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Figo is negotiating a 40 mio Pounds to Lazio or Inter.
Paolo_Rossi 27-06-2000, 06:41:AM Juventus is negociating with Fiore ,but udinese dont want to sell him until next season .
Greekfanatic 27-06-2000, 01:42:PM Kostas,
Georgatos is not comeing back! Inter fefused a loan deal, and Georgatos stated he will stay one more year.......
Inter09 30-06-2000, 04:10:AM Inter update: They have swapped Colonnese for Lombardi. Seems like a good move, anyone know anything about Lombardi's game? Also Moriero to Napoli for Robbiati and Fresi is loaned to Napoli. They also got Bruno Cirillo from Reggina. They got Ferrari back from loan from Bari and I think they got Gottardi from Lazio. Inter are going to be awesome next season. They are definitely realizing that they don't need to buy players from abroad just to spend money and then lose them the next season.
Neutral 30-06-2000, 04:16:AM No, no, no, send Zidane over to Liverpool, we'll sell our stadium, and I will donate a kidney. http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Inter09 30-06-2000, 08:27:PM Juventus are reportedly after Sol Campbell and Savo Milosevic. Do they really need either of these players? They already have the best defense and with Inzaghi, Del Piero, and Trezeguet upfront with other young players(Kovacevic is probably leaving) what do they need Milosevic for? Zaragoza should keep him. They need him more.
Guido 30-06-2000, 08:54:PM Well......... I think that if Cannavaro go to AS ROMA (my love), this team is the best in Italy and in SERIE A.
I think that Inter is doing a bad team because it buys every year many different players and so don't creat a good group of player and it buys only foreigners players (W I GIOcATORI ITALIANI!!!).
By me Lazio, Roma and Juventus will fight for the title of Italy's Chsmpion
Inter09 05-07-2000, 12:44:AM Guido, you are stupid. I've been saying that Inter is changing their big spending ideas, they are getting Italian players, e.g. Colombo, Pirlo, Robbiati, Lombardi, Cirillo, Brocchi. Those are italian players. They have bought 2 foreign players this year-Farinos, Sukur. They get a lot of young players from other countries and train them in their Primavera youth system. Inter will be awesome this year(assuming most of them stay healthy)!
Inter09 05-07-2000, 12:48:AM Has anyone noticed the players Napoli is getting for the coming season?? They will be awesome! Alpay(Galatsary), Galca(Espanyol), Amoruso(Juventus), Fresi(Inter), Moriero(Inter), Vidigal(S.Lisbon)!!, Pecchia(Juventus), Srnicek(Sheffield Wednesday). That is pretty good for a promoted team. They already have decent players. Vidigal, Galca, and Srnicek were all in Euro 2000 and played good. I pick them to get a UEFA cup spot.
Woody_007 05-07-2000, 01:06:AM I say Inter stays healthy all year (for a bloody change). Veiri, Pirlo and Recoba will knock goals in like an all-star bowler. Ronaldo will come back and return to usual dominating self. They, Lazio, and Roma fight it out till Ronaldo comes back, with Inter winning.
1: Inter (Health problems, and unholy strike force could cancel out shallow midfield.)
2: Roma (One word: BatiGOL!!)
3: Lazio (Never rule the defending champions out.)
4: Milan (Leonardo comes back!! But anyteam with Beirhoff will never do well.)
5: Juventus (Wishfull thinking, most likely higher up.)
Paolo_Rossi 05-07-2000, 03:52:AM Hey Guido ,Lazio is more worse than Inter when it comes to foreigners .They were crowned serie A champs and only 2 players for Lazio were in the national team .Thats pathetic .Until they start buying some italian players ,I will never like Lazio .Rome is the opposite ,I like them cause they buy italian players and soon will be Cannavaro ,but my heart stays with Juventus ,they always have the most players playing for the italian national team ,but i hope they sell Del Piero .
Guido 05-07-2000, 07:25:PM Stupid you say to your mother, you think that Sukur is a good player for SERIE A. AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAHAHAHAHA HAHHA .
You don't understand anything about FOOTBALL.
By me you never go to a match of SERIE A, yuo don't live of FOOTBALL, you say to be a supporter of Inter and you don't know the difference between a very good player and a bad player.
The bad of Inter is that every year buys diverse players and the team don't became a group. Bye me you say to be an Inter's supporter only because Inter won a lot in the past.
AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH AHAHA
But who do you think you are!!!!!!!!!!
AAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
yuo don't understand anything about FOOTBALL.
Come back to dream and tell me when you wake up!!! Come back to play BASEBALL!!!!
Inter09 05-07-2000, 07:58:PM That was really worth posting. Whatever you said didn't make any sense and wasted everyone's time.
PolishPower 05-07-2000, 08:31:PM I talked to some people from Napoli and they are not nearly as optimistic, hoping to avoid a relegation battle at the end is the more common sentiment.
Inter09 05-07-2000, 10:42:PM They're probably not optimistic because they lost Stefan Schwoch, their leading scorer. They will be a decent team though next year. I look for Vicenza, Perugia, Atalanta and Brescia to be relegated.
Inter09 06-07-2000, 06:11:AM I don't like Lazio much either. They basically turned into Argentina. They have(had) Almeyda, Simeone, Veron, Sensini, Lopez, Crespo. 6 Argentinians on an Italian team-too much. I think Inter at least spreads out their foreigners. (Yes, I know that those players I listed don't all play together at the same time.) Anyone else noticed Napoli??
Inter09 07-07-2000, 04:19:AM Inter have officially signed Brocchi and are keeping Serena. Supposedly the Crespo to Lazio deal is off because Salas thinks Parma is too cold! Lazio don't need Crespo anyway, Parma need him more. Lazio have Inzaghi, Lopez and Ravanelli and will probably get another striker anyway. What does everyone think about some of the "lesser" teams in Serie A? example: Udinese, Bologna, Bari, Verona, Napoli, Lecce, Reggina? Do any of these teams have a chance to be cinderella?
