Elber2k3 02-06-2004, 01:53:AM I don't know if I should watch the match... modena_10 02-06-2004, 01:54:AM i would think so, this is the test match, just like italy and germany did, this will be a good opportunity for sven to try out different midfield combinations so he can try and get lampard in there shokz 02-06-2004, 01:57:AM Originally posted by diroix Will England start with Euro 2004 first eleven?? Yep, Rio Ferdinand would've partnered Sol Campbell if he was not suspended though. But this is alot stronger than the squad we had at the 2002 World Cup. will leave my TV Card on-record and have a shower. (H) OnE_UnITED 02-06-2004, 02:07:AM I say 3-1 to England, cant see clean sheet when we have James in goal  TOON ARMY 02-06-2004, 02:11:AM Sven said he will play his strongest team which should be interesting. I've got a feeling it'll end 1-1, i just hope we don't pick up any injuries in the process. OnE_UnITED 02-06-2004, 02:12:AM Yeah loosing Owen would be...err... Chelives 02-06-2004, 02:15:AM Thats funny, Butt and Gerrard will both be wearing number 4!:p diroix 02-06-2004, 02:18:AM ... diroix 02-06-2004, 02:32:AM England:1 Japan:0(H) shokz 02-06-2004, 02:36:AM 1-0 Owen 22' Beckham doing 360's, wtf. :crazyboy: Japan have a had a few good shots from long range. OnE_UnITED 02-06-2004, 02:41:AM Nice game so far :) Michael Owen shoots home from close range after Narasaki(sp?) fails to hold Gerrards 25-yard drive. Vinnie Jones 02-06-2004, 02:43:AM Anyone know where i can watch this match? My Sports channel is showing a u-21 game :( shokz 02-06-2004, 02:53:AM England have been **** since scoring the goal. The brazilian guy on the left for Japan is good though. Spurs4Life 02-06-2004, 02:59:AM Yep they started with the formation i posted, diamond with Lampard the holding player, with Gerrard on the left, Been a good first half, but we just aint taking enough shots or closing down players well when in defence. I still expect a 3-0 scoreline. BRAZIL'S_#9 02-06-2004, 03:00:AM what's his name? Hendrik 02-06-2004, 03:51:AM Japan are to look out in the next World Cup. All their players are pretty young and they can compete with big teams on a good day. The last World Cup has helped them a lot in their development. OnE_UnITED 02-06-2004, 04:01:AM Full time....England clearly didnt want to over play and risk with injuris... 1-1 shokz 02-06-2004, 04:02:AM England dominated in the first 25 minutes, but ever since they scored the goal, we were just crap, but yes, this is a non-competitive game, and England should perform at Euro 2004. Credit to Japan though, they were very good tonight. garlei 02-06-2004, 04:02:AM why does Sven like to change the entire team all at once? How will he see which player can work with the main players? Is he trying to see which player will be able to individually make a difference and score? His substitutions worries me. Spurs4Life 02-06-2004, 04:07:AM Originally posted by SlowSilver No way are England going to beat France. England always raise their game for the big matches. They have great players, technically gifted and with huge potential. This is no surprise, at least to those who follow world (and Asian specifically in this case) football. They are surely a force to watch out in the following years. About England... I think they're not very strong. At least not at the same level as a team like France. But they are good and I'm sure they'll play with full strenght and determination here in Portugal during the Euro. If things start going well for them, then they can go far and do well. If not... He didn't even react much to that ball. I know England kind of held back but they really have to get their act together. Hopefully they'll do better against Iceland. As for the France game, i think we'll be playing pretty defensively hoping for a draw. Jedi Mind Trick 02-06-2004, 05:52:AM yea i didn't expect england to blow away japan. it's been awhile, anyways, since the majority of england's players have had a run out. but japan will surprise some. they were missing two of their best players, nakata and takahara. they're a very young team..but they're very talented technically and play with a lot of flair. nakamura is ice cold. very talented. garlei 02-06-2004, 05:55:AM The Japanese and the Koreans are well-known with their never-say-die mentality as well. They are very hardworking on the pitch and their fans are simply superb. The teamwork ethic is very strong in these Asian teams. With more and more Asians playing abroad I'm sure these teams will get better. Frostwolf 02-06-2004, 07:52:AM Japan managed a draw without Nakata... and their goal was class. See that through ball by Nakamura? (Y) Hopeunited 02-06-2004, 09:31:AM Damn good job by Japan... I wonder when China will be at that standard... :( And Holland 3-0 Faroe Islands, not good enough but acceptable, good to see Overmars back on top of his game, and good to see Arjen Robben playing again. Dont Charlton wanna sign him? VanTheMan 02-06-2004, 02:28:PM very unconvincing result for england, but this is how they do prior to the big tournaments. they will come back in euro 2004 and manage themselves to the latter stages. (H) TOON ARMY 02-06-2004, 03:52:PM We were awful after the first 35 minutes. Diamond mid-field simply doesn't suit us, we need a flat mid-field 4. There was simply no closing down, we've got to play to our strenghs and Lampard as a holding mid-fielder isn't one of our strenghs. If Sven is going to play a diamond we need Butt or Hargreaves in the holding role and Lampard in the attacking mid-field role. fender 02-06-2004, 04:37:PM Nice passing move from Japan for the goal. jigger37 02-06-2004, 06:07:PM The thing is england will prob go on and beat france in the opening game |
