View Full Version : Galatasaray Thread
diroix 11-06-2004, 03:45:PM hey guys i wanted to open this thread because Galatasaray is an important team in Europe with 1 UEFA and 1 UEFA Super Cup..
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i will post here the latest transfers and transfer rumours of Galatasaray...Please don't turn this thread to the fight..
diroix 11-06-2004, 04:08:PM Galatasaray's transfer targets are: Gallardo,Kallon,Flavio Conceicao,Lamouchi and Song..Galatasaray's chairman Özhan Canaydin said : " We will buy 4 of them...!!"
Delly 11-06-2004, 06:11:PM I highly doubt Gallardo, Kallon, and F. Conceicao will go to Gala. Although I can see Lamouchi and Song going.
aytacyolas 11-06-2004, 06:24:PM go to hell galatasaray hahah :p
aytacyolas 11-06-2004, 06:25:PM i thought you guyz were buying djalminha...
Delly 11-06-2004, 07:04:PM I also heard they were linked with some Perez guy that used to play for them. Gala used to be my mosted hated club but after they helped us out Besiktas became my most hated club :D
diroix 11-06-2004, 07:41:PM Flavio Conceicao will be in Istanbul tomorrow according to the Turkish press...:p
Frost 12-06-2004, 02:16:AM I heard Gala wanna buy Roque Junior ?? Weird. How many players are they gonna buy ? Enough money ? What abaout the financial problems of Gala ? So many questions... :mrpimp:
Cya !
diroix 12-06-2004, 02:52:AM yes it's true that Galatasaray wanna buy Roque Junior..Galatasaray have enough money for transfer our chairman said...!And our chairman is going to Italy to talk with AC Milan directors for Roque Junior and he will talk with Inter too for Kallon..
Voltaic Borusse 12-06-2004, 02:57:AM Djalminha is being linked with like 20 other clubs, and Roque Junior is being watched by Werder.
Flavio Conceicao was injured too much during his spell with BVB. I wish him the best in the Turkish Liga, though.
diroix 12-06-2004, 02:59:AM ok but Galatasaray give up on Djalminha..
$teauA 12-06-2004, 04:48:AM How do you guys feel about Hagi being your manager?
Fener_Bahce 12-06-2004, 05:05:AM I'm not a fan of Galatasaray, but I think it's safe to say getting Hagi as manager was the biggest mistake they made.
Hagi was an amazing player, but just because you can play doesn't mean you can coach, he flopped big time at bursaspor after making huge promises. Fatih Terim was building a new galatasaray....Hagi has no expierence, Galatasaray is way too big for him to be managing.
diroix 12-06-2004, 05:40:AM But he couldnt buy the players he wanted in Bursaspor..In Galatasaray he can get the players he wants..So he will be succesfull as a manager of Galatasaray...
diroix 12-06-2004, 06:07:AM our top players are:

diroix 15-06-2004, 09:37:AM no Ali Sami Yen wasn't demolished because our new stadium will be in another place in Istanbul and it will finish in 2 or 3 years..It means we will play in Ali Sami Yen for 2 more years:rockman:

why are they moving in the first place? that stadium has so much history, it just won't be the same when galatasaray moves out to their new home stadium. :(
diroix 15-06-2004, 07:19:PM but we must move because Ali Sami Yen is too old stadium and if it is rebuild in that place the capacity will not increase too much..but our new place and new stadium is very close to the Ali Sami Yen and new stadiums capacity will be 45.000 or 50.000 and it's style will be like English stadiums...:p

Fener_Bahce 16-06-2004, 05:15:PM Istanbul can get pretty bad in the winter actually.
diroix 18-06-2004, 08:49:PM Besiktas signed Berkant from us (Galatasaray)
diroix 19-06-2004, 08:36:AM While Besiktas hogged the Wednesday transfer headlines, Thursday's belonged to Galatasaray.
Chairman Ozhan Canaydin and soccer branch director Ergun Gursoy have been stumping Europe talking to players, agents and clubs and, barring last minute hitches, they have picked up two Brazilians.
Real Madrid midfielder Flavio Conceicao, who is on holiday in Brazil at the moment, is reported to have been faxed a three-year contract and to have signed and returned it after agreement was reached with his agents and the Spanish club.
We do not yet have details of what is being paid but it is possible that Galatasaray has let itself in for a whopping bill. It originally wanted to take Flavio Conceicao on loan but Real held out for an outright sale and was believed to be asking 8 million euros.
Also the Brazilian played on loan to Borussia Dortmund last season for which he was paid a hefty 4 million euros, half by Borussia, half by Real. He has just turned 30 and although he was a member of Brazil's 1996 Olympic team, his international career has not prospered in recent years.
This being the case, a three-year contract seems a little on the long side but Galatasaray coach Gheorghe Hagi has been insistent that he wants Flavio Conceicao.
Roque Junior
The second Brazilian acquisition, defender Roque Junior, is no stranger to Turkish fans. He played on the Brazil team which beat Turkey twice at the finals before going on to beat Germany in the 2002 World Cup finals.
He is on the books of AC Milan but has played little for the Italian giant recently having had spells out on loan to Leeds United and Siena. Now 28, he is a stylish, elegant defender and a man who likes to go forward and link with the attack.
His weakness is that he is alarmingly prone to error at times but like Flavio Conceicao he has been on Hagi's wanted list since the transfer season began. Galatasaray has agreed a one-year loan deal with AC and it should have been signed and sealed by the time you read this.
Saidou on hold
All this may be bad news for Istanbulspor's Cameroon international midfield man Alioum Saidou. He has signed a pre-contract agreement with Galatasaray but the club has been dragging its feet on signing the actual contract.
The arrival of Flavio Conceicao has increased speculation that it will back out of the Saidou deal if Canaydin and Gursoy get the third man they are targeting, Argentine Marcello Gallardo, another midfield player.

4th? Galatasaray always plays for the 1st place. We have to win it on our 100th year anniversary.
Gallardo is next, I read that alatasaray is waiting for the Brazilian league to finish, I think June 30th we will meet with Gallardo and discuss the transfer, if it doesn't result then we will get Djhalminha (spelling) which he is like 34 years old and I don't want a player who is end of his career.
Delly 27-06-2004, 08:19:AM Marcello Gallardo? I thought he played for River Plate in Argentina? Or is it a different one?

i know we all want to win the league but lets be realistic man.
Fenerbahce SK is leaps and bounds ahead of our team. :(
Fenerbahce SK's possible lineup:
------------------Volkan--------------------
Turaci-------Luciano-----Deniz---------Ümit
------------------Serkan-------------------
Serhat-------------------------------Tuncay
-------------------Alex---------------------
-----------Nobre--------------PVH----------
And they still have players like Kemal, Selcuk, Yozgatli, Fatih, Servet, Hanefi, Murat and Semih on the bench.
And Besiktas got better over the summer as well.
Can gala's lineup compete with this? Not bloddy likely.
:kader:
this is very very sad :f***:

yeah i see what you're saying but Besiktas is not in great form lately, looks like they will have a bad season and Fenerbahce having problems with their midfield, I don't think Alex will be successfull in Turkey cause he was already sent from Parma once, it will be the same story in the Turkish League for him. What ever players we have, Galatasaray has the name and we will still be playing for the 1st spot in the league. Our team doesn't sound that bad as well. I mean we got H.Sas, Sabri, H.Sukur, Umit Karan, Ayhan, Ergun, Suat Usta, Concechao, hopefully Junior and Gallardo. Gallardo already used to the european football so he will be a great attacking midfield for us. I have high hopes if we get Junior and Gallardo for this year.
Don't forget Fenerbahce will play in the champions league and Besiktas will be in the UEFA, do you think they will handle the league, turkish cup and the uefa competition all in one season? No cause they are not Galatasaray, it happened once to a turkish club and that was Galatasaray and it won't happen any more where a Turkish team will be successfull, its like once in a life time and Galatasaray managed it with Fatih Terim and his great line up. Hagi, Popescu, emre, Okan, Umit Davala, Capone, Bulent, Ergun, Unsal, Sukur, Arif.... no one will beat that line up, no one.
Forget about last year, this year will be different cause of our 100th year existence in the league, our players will play with their heart out there, just wait and see. The fans are awaiting alot of things from the players, and they will do their best. Sas will play like Sas, Ergun will play like Ergun, Bulent will play like Bulent, Hakan Unsal will play like Unsal,,,,,, Hakan Sukur already putting his heart out there so we will have a great season. We have to or there is no any other choise.

You think big teams care about their countries cup? The Turkish Cup is like the FA Cup, big teams play their reserve players so they can rest their top players. Fenerbahce and Besiktas won't be Galatasaray because they're Fenerbahce and Besiktas, not Galatasaray duh (H)
Also can you please stop looking to the Past, we're in Present Time, not the UEFA Cup 2000 final, it's not the same team.

Yes I know that Besiktas and Fenerbahce won't be Gala, but I didn't mean it that way. I meant Gala is a bigger team if you look at the history
And I can talk about Galatasaray's past, what is it to you? Why do you care? I am proud when I talk about the past. I still hear fener fans talking about the Man U victory which happened in 1997 and they are proud of that victory which is fine to mention it, I can mention our history too if you like it or not. Again we won the UEFA Cup against Arsenal and the Super Cup against Real Madrid, do you have anything to say about that?. :hump:

The Turkish Cup is another cup, if you noticed in the FA Cup most of the seasons Arsenal, Man U, Liverpool..... plays the semi,,,or even the finals, in England it is importand and so as in Turkey. Well if Fener didn't win it for the past 10 years or so (I don't know exact years) suddenly it is not importand to you guys anymore or what?

I've been wondering for a while now, how many total cups have Galatasaray won? I looked at the official site but it doesn't tell. I wanted to see how it would compare to Fenerbahce's which is 81 total cups. I'm not being arrogant or anything I just wanted to know.

Is there anyone who lives in Argentina can tell us some news about this transfer ?
shy_guy329 29-06-2004, 06:26:AM From http://www.galahell.tk
GALATASARAY IN HOLLAND & HAGI EXPLODED !
Galatasaray football team arrived in Holland this afternoon without Mondragon and the so called new transfers. Lions will play 4 training matches at the end of the camp.
Hakan Sukur said ' I have not signed any official contract with Galatasaray yet, we are waiting for the president Ozhan Canaydin to sit down with us after the Holland camp.'
Ergun Gursoy also answered some tough questions. " Our talks with Gallardo and Roque Junior are continuing. We have agreed all the terms with the AC Milan's Brazilian defender Roque Junior only problem is his wife does not want to leave Italy. We do have alternatives if we can't get these players, it isn't easy to make transfers like this ' look at Fenerbahce it took over 6 months to get Alex's signature." And for Hakan Sukur , Hakan and I agreed to everything and I promised him I will return the contract he signed earlier this month if we dont meet the conditions stated in it. I am sure there will be no problems between Hakan and the management and he will sign the official documents soon as he returns from the camp in Holland. "
Management's Fatih Goksen and Mustafa Turgun left for Argentina this morning to have talks with River Plate's Gallardo.
Gheorghe Hagi Press Conference
Galatasaray manager Gheorghe Hagi was not amused by the management's transfer policy and the way they run things.
" I told the management three times now that I do not want to go to the Holland camp with a single goalkeeper. I need the transfers and I need them now. We need at least 4 to 5 new signings and this is not including Yavuz and Saidou.."
" Training camp is the most important time for the team and I need everybody who will be wearing Galatasaray jersey to attend it. All I want is transfers to be done soon as possible so they can join the rest of the team."
" I know my job would be much easier if I was the manager of Real Madrid or Barcelona ,dont get me wrong I am the coach of one of the biggest clubs in the world but at this time our club does not have the finances to meet the demand but we can not afford to re-live the accident season of 2003-04 ones again. Our rivals across town made some big transfers and we need to be equal with the task at hand. "
What a great start. :kader:
diroix 30-06-2004, 12:37:AM if we cant sign Gallardo than our target will be Lyon's Juninho according to the Turkish press..
Lonestarr022 01-07-2004, 12:58:AM so who have they signed so far, just to clarify on this
shy_guy329 01-07-2004, 05:05:AM Galatasaray Sports Club signed:
Alioum Saidou, formerly of Istanbulspor
İbrahim Yavuz from Adanaspor
Flavio Conceiçao from Real Madrid CF

I'm sure Lyon wouldn't sell Juninho unless the price is good. The player is an intergral part of their club.

It would be something like this
-------------- Modragon
------------ Bulent Kkorkmaz
Suat Usta ---------------------Orhan Ak
------------------ Conceicao
--- Sabri -- Saidou -- Volkan -- Sas
----- Umit Karan -- Hakan Sukur
I would go with Ergun instead of Volkan but I would like to give Volkan a last chance, same goes for Umit Karan, Arif can do a better job than him but again, last chance wouldn't hurt. so this is my best 11.
TURK_1975 01-07-2004, 01:27:PM I would like to say something about Berkant. This idiot waisted himself in Galatasaray. Few years ago he came to Gala, he was only 18 years old and all he did was teamed up with Umit Karan, Volka and went to bars and didn't improove himself. He is suppost to be a great future star but this guy was behind bars from what I have heard from media. Now he is blaming Galatasaray for being waisted. He should of trained alot and took care of himself instead of partiying all night and after few hours going to a practise. What a waist.
I read about Hristo Stoichkov how he became a world star. This guy practised after his club training. He added another few hours of training himself too. Not like Berkant where the media made him a star in the age of 18 and now suddenly he didn't need training and he is a star ready to play, what a guy, I think psychologicaly he was effected by the media where the media made his a great footballer.
Delly 01-07-2004, 01:32:PM Berkant is like Servet at Fenerbahce. No determantion.
I wouldn't start Sabri just yet. Give him a year to mature then he'll be ripe. I'd put Ergun instead of Sabri.
Emre_5 01-07-2004, 02:03:PM Sabri is like a Mini-Emre(although Emre is Damn Small Too)....I think He can start this year, he start a handful of games last year...

Sabri is ready, he started I would say 80% of the matches last season. And he will be successfull if he takes care of himself. He was a calm player but sometime last year he started to be like Bulent and Hasan, he was arguing with the ref from time to time, he should stop that or he is not going to be successfull.

Galatasaray's new transfer Flavio Conceicao signed a three year contract with the Lions right after his medical.
Conceicao " I am very happy to be in Istanbul and very happy to be a Galatasaray player. I know we will have many victories in our 100th year anniversary. This is most important day of my career." I am sad to see Galatasaray will not participate in Europe this year , we are not use to seeing Galatasaray this way. With my help we will bring the Lions back to the top , where they belong."
Fatih Goksen " We will play a friendly match with a different European team every two weeks during the Super League season. "
Conceicao will join his teammates in Arnheim Holland this evening.

Yah sabri has a lot of potentional and will be a great player in the future...but the only reason he started a handful of games last season was because Galatasaray was struggling so badly...they really had no choice.
Manny 10-07-2004, 04:40:AM Bosnian, Baljic has played in our 2 first pre season matches and he has done pretty well.
Bosnian 10-07-2004, 07:35:AM Glad to hear that. Do you think he will be a starter for Galatasaray next season?

Yes defenately if he gets his old form back he will be amazing in our first 11. ;)
Delly 10-07-2004, 09:14:AM Well Roque Junior signed for Leverkusen so you won't be getting him. Cafercan Aksu is deffo going to be a great player for you guys. He's doing great at the U-19 tourney.
PetitFurby 10-07-2004, 08:57:PM Hi all !
I'm french and I love GS.
I saw Song which had played for Lens for several year, and it's a very good player. He is aggressive and stop strickers to playing. It is a very good choice which Hagi made.
But Gallardo that I saw playing 4 years in Monaco could be the best player to be signed to galatasaray this year. It is really a super player, it was a large disappointment when it left Monaco for River. GS MUST TO SIGN GALLARDO !!!
Juninho (Lyon) is a good player, but he is just a free-kick player, and we have already Cesar Prates...
Nico from Paris ;-)
diroix 10-07-2004, 11:43:PM Galatasaray directors are in Argentina to talk with Gallardo..River gives him 500.000 € for year but Galatasaray will give 2.000.000 € for year..

$chwenker 14-07-2004, 05:49:AM Ok hiho guys ;)
I need an information - which music is played with Galatasaray when the players are entering the field ?
Can you tell me that ? If yes, do you might even have a mp3 file (at best a "live" version, directly from the stadium, with fans in background) ?
I'd really thank you for any information, we need it urgently for a patch created by FIFA ECP :)
Thanks in advance and cheers

P.S.: I've heard that in Gala they're playing "I will survive" (from Hermes House Band) - is that true ?

shy_guy329 29-07-2004, 05:46:AM Galatasaray, which has completed the Istanbul, Holland and Germany stages of its new season preparations, has now gone to America for its 4th phase. The team was greeted effusively by Galatasaray fans at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.
Galatasaray will continue their preparation sessions for 8 days in New Jersey, and will play a special match at the Giants Stadium in New Jersey with the winners of the 2003-2004 Champions League FC Porto on 1 August.
Galatasaray’s American tour will also involve social activities with Turks resident in the United States. There has been great interest on the part of US Turks in the match to be played between Galatasaray and FC Porto on 1 August and the gala dinner to be held in honour of Galatasaray.
On 2 August the Galatasaray team will leave America and from 3 August onwards will continue their league preparations at the Florya Metin Oktay Grounds. The team will make its first appearance before its fans in Turkey prior to the 2004-05 season at the jubilee match of former player Suat Kaya against a Federation mixed team to be held on Wednesday, 4 August at Ali Sami Yen Stadium.
Galatasaray will play against Konyaspor on the first week of the 2004-05 season.

No Besiktas wasn't the first football club, it was Galatasaray. True, Besiktas sports club was found in 1903 but it wasn't a football club. They have formed their football club after 1905. Just to make it clear for you. ;)
And people yes yes yes Balic was amazing, he is alive again after a Serious of injury and hoping he will not get injured again. He is in great form and so as Hasan Sas. I seen some formation changes today. Hasan Sas was playing in the middle like a play maker and he didn't play too bad in that position untill he got injured. The ref was terrible today, Tomas got hit on his lip which was bleeding and Hasan Sas got injured by a nasty tackle from Rizespor player which he should of been carded. And about Necati, he scored a great goal which we don't see everyday. I knew he had powerful shots from outside of the box when he used to play for Adana. But he needs to get more speed and be more active. Hakan Sukur was marked by 3 defenders and couldn't do much except an offside goal and a break away miss. Concecao is getting better IMO, he challenges more now and today he actually had a long range shot. Overal the team played well, it was their best league game for the past 2 seasons.
It should of been 2-0 but Tomas had an injury and was taken aside for recovery and Rize scored.
But BJK lost which is good for us. Trabzonspor and Fenerbahce are the real threats for this year.

Today I saw that we are trying to get Tugay from Blackburn. I miss him and I think he should come back to Galatasaray.
Gallardo got serious of injuries and we don't have time for his injury to be healed. Felipe will not come back to Galatasaray because he had a bad experience with us before, about Emre, I don't want that betrayer. Galatasaray brought him up and made him Emre, he escaped from Gala without Galatasaray benefiting from him.

Oglum bos bos konusma. Galatasaray will not join this year we all know it, we are not stupit or blind enough not to see it or notice this.
For the past 12 years for the first time Galatasaray will not join any European Competition. Well when was the last time boklukbahce joined? :funny:
We all know who Galatasaray is and we all know who Fenerbahce is, don't deny what Galatasaray gave Turkey. Did you know that because of Galatasaray Fenerbahce can be spoted in the Champions League without any qualification? Did you know that Fenerbahce is in pot 4 and where Galatasaray is in pot 2. For the past 10 years how many games did Fenerbahce played and how many did Galatasaray played in the UEFA Competition? Can you see the difference or are you too stupid to realize Turkey's #1 team? Well all these years Galatasaray have battled in the Europen Competitions to earn Country points. My friend for a fact Galatasaray has its own fame in Europe.
Ask anyone in this forum who is better Gala or Fener, they will tell you, they will not deny it cause they will tell us the truth.
Ohh and about my signature, you can't handle it cause its the trueth puhahaha
By the way if you guys play in the big league, please score a goal this this time, didn't Galatasaray tought you anything the whole decade?

Fener has the Champs League, league, and Turkish CUp. Fener are too focused on the Champs League that they might not do that great in the league and Gala would have a greater chance of winning the league.

What u except 80,000 fans to show up and fill the stadium? Get Real, all the Pictures u show of the fener stadium are during Derby's why dont u show some pictures of Derby's at Ataturk Olympic stadium or at Ali Sami Yen? Why must you show only have the truth??? Whatever, this is getting no where, to all the Galatasaray fans, don't respond to him anymore, theres no use u cant get it through his thick skull so we should just stop. As for Pi-Air 17 why dont u go post in the Fener Thread? Stop posting ur Fener pics in our thread...

I'm Canadian. I've never been to turkey or know turkish ...... but I will support gala through everything. :)
And yes, I do know it's not as tense as fener vs gala but still not bad.
It would be nice to beat besiktas in thier first match at the upgraded stadium. :rockman:http://frutsel.terrainhost.com/frutselapp/dump/ernestito/06-1.jpg
TURK_1975 16-09-2004, 01:30:AM Canadian_Soccer_Fan great to hear that you have chose the right team in Turkey. You can see how ignorant and jelouse some of these fener fans can get sometimes cause they don't have much popularity out side of the country.
About the Besiktas vs Gala game, is that their upgraded stadium? Cause I never seen it or heard about it. If it is their current stadium then it kicks ass. I think it looks better than fener's stadium.

yeah, it's their current stadium with more seats. They are lowering the pitch a couple of meters so that they can increase the stadium capacity from 21,000 to 31,000. This means that Inönü stadium will be a true soccer stadium, no running track around the pitch and stuff.
Hopefully gala will return to europe competition next season! :rockman:
soccer_fan29 23-09-2004, 04:51:AM Besiktas: 0 - Galatasaray: 0
In the 6th week match in the Super League, we tied with no scores with our eternal competitor Besiktas in the Inonu Stadium. We lost a penalty kick with Hakan Sukur in the 59th minute of the competition
I can't belive sukur missed a penalty shot :kader:

TURK_1975 23-09-2004, 07:39:AM Canadian_Soccer_Fan have you watched the game buddy? It was an amazing game I tell you. The quality of the game, the fans, the stadium were all there. One of the best European derby match I would say. Both sides attacked but failed to score. Hakan Sukur missed a penalty  But still I respect him. He is my favourite goal scorer of all time :rockman:
It was still a great result at Inonu stadium for Galatasaray. So we are on the right track.
If you want to watch Galatasaray just go to any Turkish bars or restorants in Toronto.

it's okay coz Conceiçao sucks. I haven't seen him do anything usefull for galatasaray yet. There are many gala players sitting on the bench that are much much better.

He used to be good, but after a serious of injury and he have never got his form back. Galatasaray signed him for free from Real Madrid. Isn't there something fishy? I mean who would give away a good player for free. He plays really hard for 2 games and then he is injured for 1 month. His old injury keeps coming back. But I would never replace him with Volkan. I would go with Saidou.

Yeah and Volkan is not a center midfielder, he is an attacking midfielder though and he is good at it, what is Hagi thinking somethimes? Volkan can't make accurate passes. I havn't seen Saidou play but at least Hagi can give him the chance :kader:
Brother Hymn 26-09-2004, 01:13:AM Galatasaray needs a playmaker immediatly ... We need a expert player who can save the game when the team goes bad ... For example Gallardo ... I think Gallardo will join us at the second half of this season probably ... In fact I hope that ... And I think Saidou must play instead of Concecaio ... Because Concecaio don't play good now for a reason ; maybe injury , maybe adaptation ... Hagi must try Saidou because he's a really good defensive midfielder and he can play vertically too fast and he can make accurate passes also ...
Galatasaray has a limited staff ... We don't have many subsitute players ... The best location is the center of defence ... Song and Tomas are successful ... They will be so good as time goes on ... But I can't say the same things for the wings of defence (Hakan Unsal and Cihan) ... They sucks ... Maybe Cihan plays good sometimes but he's not a wing defender ; he's not a wing midfielder also ... He's a center/defender midfielder and he can't make wing attacks ... I don't want to talk about Hakan Unsal because I don't like his performing and I don't want to see him in Galatasaray squad ...
Galatasaray forwards are well done ... Necati and Hakan Sukur plays very well and they are a good couple ... Also Umit Karan and the young star of Galatasaray Cafercan are good substitues ...
I think Galatasaray will be so good as time goes on ... We need a good playmaker and some other transfers for some locations ...
