View Full Version : TOP 10 INTERNATIONAL DERBYS!
Ronaldinho Gaucho 11-11-1999, 03:02:PM My top ten international derbys would be:
BRAZIL X ARGENTINA
BRAZIL X ITALY
ITALY X GERMANY
ENGLAND X SCOTLAND
BRAZIL X HOLLAND
ARGENTINA X ENGLAND
HOLLAND X GERMANY
ARGENTINA X COLOMBIA
BRAZIL X URUGUAY
HOLLAND X ARGENTINA
THOSE WOULD BE ALL GREAT GAMES...THEY'RE ALL GREAT TEAMS BUT THE DERBY BETWEEN BRAZIL AND ARGENTINA STANDS OUT...THOSE TWO TEAMS HATE EACH OTHER...AND SO DOES ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND I KNOW BUT YOU CAN NEVER COMPARE BRAZIL X ARGENTINA TO SCOTLAND AND ENGLAND...ENGLAND HAS GREAT PLAYERS SUCH AS BECKAM AND OWEN....BUT I CAN'T SAY THE SAME ABOUT SCOTLAND THE ONLY PLAYER I CAN RECALL FROM THE WORLD CUP IS THAT BLONDE DEFENSE MAN THAT'S ALL...IN A DERBY LIKE BRAZIL AND ARGENTINA YOU CAN SEE PLAYERS LIKE...RONALDO, ROBERTO CARLOS, CAFU, RIVALDO, ELBER,AMOROSO, RONALDINHO, BATISTUTA, VERON, ORTEGA, SIMEONE, BALBO, ZANNETI, PALERMO ETC...SO FOR ME THAT'S THE BEST ONE OF ALL...
partizan-bg 11-11-1999, 04:03:PM YUGOSLAVIA : CROATIA

HagiRulez 11-11-1999, 04:21:PM what about Turkey vs Greece?
spursfreak 11-11-1999, 05:40:PM You copied my topic! But who cares I copied it off Radio Five Live
SCOTLAND vs England
All other derbys are no in no contention to these 2 (exluding Europe vs World xi)
london 11-11-1999, 07:54:PM What about England v Germany???
We play them so much it almost IS like a regular derby match!!!!!
GROBAR_OTAGO 11-11-1999, 08:09:PM Yugo Vs Croatia is the best, ok they have only played twice and only 4 goals have been scored but if you want two teams that hate each other go with cro v yugo
::shinji:: 11-11-1999, 11:00:PM Portugal vs. Spain has got to be up there.
Bstrupar 12-11-1999, 01:51:AM Hey man
Don't forget the Derby of the Lowlands:
Belgium-Holland
They allready played eachother 122 times
Draco 12-11-1999, 02:45:AM Hey, you must include the IBERIC match
PORTUGAL vs. SPAIN
nicolas_reboud 12-11-1999, 03:26:AM What about FRANCE VS ENGLAND?????
Mr_Portugal 12-11-1999, 03:30:AM what about England-Republic of Ireland? thats pretty tense (Catholics vs Protestants)
Portugal-Spain is nasty as those 2 countries do not like each other.
Brazil-Uruguay is big.
The biggest I say would have to be Yugo-Croatia...for non-footballing reasons though....Yugo-Albania could be there to.
and another one that could be tense because of historical events would be Germany-Israel.
Hey, how about Mexico-USA, is nowadays the CONCACAF classic. I´m gonna tell you that every macht played by those teams, is in game the proud of them.
Mr_Portugal 12-11-1999, 03:47:AM Oh..I forgot the ever so common:
Holland-Belgium
AJAX supporter 12-11-1999, 05:53:AM Australia - New Zealand
Aussie Soccer 12-11-1999, 06:07:AM Australia vs New Zealand
only problem we would kick new zealands ass about 10 nil.
PolishPower 12-11-1999, 08:01:AM Yes I agree the recent Mexico-USA games have been quite good.
I think best game I ever saw USA play was in the WC98 qualifier in Mexico when they played a man down for 60 minutes and still managed to create chances and got a 0-0 draw, so that people cheered US team and booed Mexico at the end!
Also no one mentioned Ukraine-Russia, new rivalry but very hateful from what you read went on during Euro 2000 qualifiers.
Fluffy 12-11-1999, 10:38:AM England vs wales/Ireland/Scotland/N Ireland
Every Nation inside the Brittish isles loves beating England.
England fans always love creating a riot when they play them.
Ulisses 12-11-1999, 11:00:AM There're great derbys guys, but nothing compares to Brazil x Argentina.
This game isn't only a classic, is a real WAR...
AWASINAM 12-11-1999, 02:17:PM top derby to watch must be ITALY v BRAZIL closely follwed by ITALY v GERMANY and then BRAZIL v ARGENTINA. BRAZIL v ARGENTINA alot of good football but not enough tactics. i do like game thats one way and then the other way as long as defence is good players have to use skill. i really like that. i would say thats the best thing in football , when u see a player using his skills to the full.
Ahmed Mohammad 12-11-1999, 02:29:PM Sweden - Finland (in hockey anyway) http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif
North Korea - South Korea, surely that one must be tense...
Ronaldinho Gaucho 12-11-1999, 02:45:PM Yeah guys they're all good derbys...Sorry my portuguese fellows I forgot about that great derby... Spain X Portuagal...It really should be up there... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Cro-Yugo definitely, not for hatred top list but prestige between the players and the teams of the same school of football. Players on the pitch know only about that. Ones watching must enjoy it. They only played two times - drew. I think it's the closest and most exciting derby - many chances for scoring on both ends.
Hatred , religion - don't talk about that please. It's only for the stupid in the mass that don't watch nor care for football. Thank you.
Mummi 12-11-1999, 05:39:PM HEy what about Russia ws Ukrania
