Oh God.

During the next World Cup, I will probably be in the US.

If the games kick off at 11AM (which I hope) then I kickoff here in my part of the States will be about 8PM!

If the games kick off at 3PM in Korea/Japan, then I will have to stay up till almost MIDNIGHT to watch the KICKOFF! (As will all the Americans on this board)

If I manage to make it over to the UK for the 2002 WC, then this is the conversion:

3PM = 6AM!!!!!

11AM = 2AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats just a rough conversion with a globe, but MY GOD!

I'd have to stay up till the un-Holy hours of the night/morning to see the matches!

....and watch the half-empty stadiums in Asia as the unappreciative Japanese and Koreans can't be bothered to buy tickets to the greatest sporting event on Earth!

The things I do for football....

You got only one thing wrong: every game will be a solid sell-out and the atmosphere at the games will be awesome.

a somewhat truthful statement. people thought that the same thing would happen in the USA during 1994, watching Soccer in American Football stadiums, and lack of interest in the sport overall. But, it turned out to be a great success, and Soccer gets more popular every year. Lets hope 2002 is a great one!!

Who cares about the people in the USA. The games will be played to suit the European countries. European don't like to get up at 3am, so to get a great audience the games will kick-off maybe early in the morning in Japan and South Korea to suit the european viewers.

Daniel:

You're just angry because you'll have to keep s****** big kocks in Europe for the rest of your life. You will never make it out of your own town, and if you do, maybe some nearby country, but that's about it.

You're just a sore loser that probably can't juggle the ball more than 10 times and has to sit here and take it out on the rest of the people on this forum.

Damn, If the U.S. "men" team wins the Olympics then soccer here in the U.S. will get popular...the Amercan fans only care about winning. Look at the women team, you think there would be 90,000 people watching a game if they played for lets say 3rd place? dont think so.

Japanese fans are the most enthusiastic audiences in soccer. I have seen one of their games IN Japan. I even began to think that the players were there for the crowd, and not vice versa.

heh, i don't really want "soccer" to get popular here in the us.

i'd like to move away from this stinkin' country instead, back to europe.

you know why i don't want "soccer" to get popular. because those stupid americans will take it and make it their own game, they'll make up their rules, they'll play the game like they do in the mls, and americans want to see more violence and aggression in sports (stupid). and face it, americans just aren't fanatical about any sport, unlike europeans. i mean, you don't see them go out after big games in their cars honking in the streets, and arguing everyday about their teams, except maybe only after big championship wins. also, if the sport gets popular in the us the us national team might actually get good and that would be hell cuz they'll be so goddamn arrogant it'll be disgusting.

As an American I agree with some of GShakan09's points. If soccer got popular here, it would be "moneyball." But you're WRONG-aggression in more sports? There isn't that much aggression in sports here anyway. Don't even say Hockey-if you've ever played, which, i'll be "arrogant" and suppose you have'nt, you would understand that when someone checks you into the boards skating 30 mile an hour, you want to fight back. Besides, we don't have hooliganism here. Granted some cities are terrorized after big games, nobody gets knifed or gunned down by rival fans. And if we get good, i'll be so excited-i've watched, played and followed soccer the most of any sport. I'm always proud of the US national team. And when the day comes when the US is a true powerhouse, i'll be damn proud, and so will the soccer fans in the US. After hearing Yank bashing about soccer, it will be a welcome relief for the US to become a powerhouse.

And notice how the US DIDN'T GET ARROGANT when we beat Germany twice, Argentina once, and Brazil once in the past two years. The only thing Bruce Arena mentioned was "team building," not "were better than they are now."

I remember that during USA '94 we in Italy saw the matches at 10.30 p.m and they finished at 00.00.
I remember the final................................. poor Roberto Baggio (:

My bet is that FIFA would be adjust the time of the games to fit European needs. Having the game in Japan/Korea meant a lot for those Asian fans. Give them a chance. And as I said in another post, I have no f***ing tolerance for racist, bigoted, sexist sons of f***ing b****. They piss me off. You a**holes.

I'm serious about that! There's an official website: I'll try to find it.

Last night the France-Portugal Match didn't start til 9:45 and wasn't over til past midnight.
