The ALL CAP topic was actually not a stupid idea... it was just presented in an inflammatory and childish manner.

Naturalization has always been an issue in international football. In the 1930 World Cup, the USA made the semi-finals where they lost to Argentina. Most of their players were immigrants... Are they Americans?
What is an American? In a country made up of immigrants from other lands, it becomes difficult to make rules.

The players on the French team in the 98 WC were nationalized Frenchmen.

Someone said "Should England submit a Commonwealth team with players from canada, ireland, india, wales, scotland and the other 30+ countries they have their control reaching too??"

I wouldn't include India as a country England has control reaching to....
As for the others... if the United Kingdom had a Football Federation and were members of FIFA, they could submit a team like that.
In fact, as the recent (Ipswich) Johnson fiasco showed, even with separate federations, there are problems.
As it stands, the UK isn't a member of FIFA.
England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, etc... are... independently.
BUT... there have been players born in one playing for the other.
Look at Johnson again...
Who HASN'T he played for?!?! :-)

What is a Brazilian? What is an Argentine?
What is a Frenchman? What is an American?
These are very hard questions.
