Germany goes back to a more defensive tactic with just one striker and Ballack and Schweinsteiger (replacing Schneider) behind.

Hmmm my prediction...it won't be a high scoring game so I predict 1-0 for us with Ballack scoring his goal.


If we can't beat that sorry excuse of a Czech team I would be done with Völler. Hitzfeld is already waiting.

I think the Czechs do care. Holland - Germany is full of rivalry but so is Czech Republic - Germany. The Czechs have a score to settle with the Germans after Euro96, when the Czechs lost the final because of that pathetic golden goal by Bierhoff. The second string line-up is raring to go, out to prove themselves. Plus the Dutch Ajax youngsters Sneijder and V.d. Vaart called up Galasek to persuade him to make sure the Czechs want to beat Germany. Galasek promised to beat the Germans. I'm hopeful. :)

I can't believe he wouldn't put Klose in the starting 11. I know he has his critics, but Kuranyi has done NOTHING to warrant his place on the team.

I do blame Voeller for part of this. I know he doesn't have much to work with, but 3 strikers would have been a good idea.

Like i said on another thread, Germany are too damn mediocre to go through the quarters. Kuranyi missed some chances, but Karel Bruckner brings in Poborsky and Baros and after a few minutes Germany just couldnt handle them.

I just got home from the bar where I watched a taped cop of this game. I want to point out one thing... The scoreline of this game in no way shows what really happened on the field.

Germany completley dominated the Czechs offensively, and if the Czechs hadn't been playing the Italian/Latvian defense, they would have lost.

That being said, Germany missed alot of chances... They could have easily won this game though. The free kick from Heinze was the best I have seen in a long time,and the Baros goal was unlucky. But he is a good player.

Either way, Gremany is going home. I think they played well in ALL 3 games, but what can you do against a Latvian team who was playing with a formation of 8-2? That was just garbage.

Bah, I am sick of thinking about it. I predict a Czech/England final is that can be possible. The Czechs should win it all if things go right for them.

The Dutch fans and press are getting overexcited again. Holland are starting to play better and I fancy our chances against Sweden, but let's not get too loud mouthed because we ain't that good (yet).
