Well Colombia just did beat Argentina 2 - 0 without most of the starting line up, Argentina had most of the starting line up in the field but Colombia was superior and played very well tonight... After the 5-0 against Uruguay and now this 2-0 our Colombian national team looks like is comming back :rockman:

They showed the game live in the West. I fell asleep and missed the D'Alessandro red card, what exactly did he do?

MadAZNFootballe
28-06-2004, 11:05:AM
He got tangled up with another player and he when they were running back...and this is all away from the ball....he threw his arms into a Colombian player's head...the ref let it go at first but after the player was still down and after some complaints from Colombia D'Alessandro got the red...and started to argue with Colombia players...before leaving the pitch

no, they showed it at 7.00 pm eastern time on the Telemundo West feed, but tape delayed on the East Feed at 11.30 pm, I have both feeds, like most should on DirecTV, and I too was surprised they decided to show this game :o it was a good game.

Looks like Colombia is back on the rise....good to see that. They're what, the third biggest footballing nation in South America? Maybe almost on par with Argentina interms of their youth system and the amount of youngsters they develop? Why have they been in such bad form over the last couple of years?

I would really love to be filled in on them by someone who knows all there is to be known about them as they are my adopted NT team in South America and I'll be supporting them fully in the Cop America.

Well, I'll definitely give you a break since your comprehending skills are weak. I'm not comparing Colombia/Argentina interms of the current stars each might have, players each might export to Europe.....I'm talking about the youth system......in all youth competitions, Colombia always has a strong squad.....some of them might have trouble developing into stars as they age due to a number of varying problems, but as youngsters, they're very comporable in quality to any youngsters that Argentina fields in youth competitions

Thanx for your support, in the past two years Colombia has struggled fiding a coach. After two failed attempts, Finally they have a new coach Reinaldo Rueda who has been working with the youth teams for quite sometime now, he placed 4th in Helsinky with the under 17 team and 3rd in the FIFA World Youth Championship UAE 2003 where Colombia blasted Argentina to take bronze 2-1. Recently since he took over the main squad the team has been getting great results and is back to fight in the world cup qualifyers after a weak start. Rueda is using some of the young talents for the main squad as well as some of the new blood. Colombia seems to be in the right track and still working the youth system where is now mandatory for every team in the Colombian A league to have an under 17 on every game this seems to be giving great results for the development of new talent...

:kader: This thread is sad. 2 wins in a row and Colombia thinks they are ballers. Please. Colombia beat Uruguay who is one of the worst teams in South America. My Peruanos beat them 3-1 in Uruguay for crying out loud. Colombia beat them 5-0 in Colombia and they beat Argentina in a friendly here at the Orange Bowl and they are the "3rd best team in South America". Get Real.

They dont even have the talent to make the World Cup IMO...

Argentina
Brazil
Paraguay

our youth system was always almost non-existant, Colombia has on big problem, its called, we don't believe in what we have, in 87, our under 23 squad took 1rst place in the South America under 23, they had on that squad, Higuita, Valderrama, Rincon, well the ones who eventually went to Italy 90, and the ones who walked all over Argetina in that famous 0 - 5 thrashing in Buenos Aires. It took 13 years for us to believe in our youths again, when Reynaldo himself won the Toulon under-20 Festival in France in 2000, then we took it again in 2001. What we achieved in 2003 both at the under-17 WC (4th place, lost to Argentina)and the under-20 WC (3rd place, won against Argetina) were great strides for our youth system, now I'm not saying we're the best, Brazil holds that privilage right now, but we do walk in the same path of the "big" teams of South America, which to my opinion CONMEBOL is the confederation that is most even throught out, with the exeption of Brazil being the undesputed # 1, after that any other country can be on top or the bottom on any given day, some more towards the top than others.

You ugly south americans are so cocky when it comes to International football. :kader: :kader:

Who cares about Colombia right now we are crap and in a "slight" rise. Argentinans are VERY VERY skilled but are crap when it comes to International play. The only South American team that is always on top is Brazil. The rest of the teams have ups and downs. Like Uruguay who was once the best in the World now looks like complete garbage. Its all good because I know they will get out of that slump and best luck to them.
