The seats are actually closer to the pitch.

Fenerbahçe Sukru Saracoglu Stadium is rapidly becoming one of Europe's elite football arenas. Fenerbahce's huge investments in top quality facilities since President Aziz Yildirim's election has been much appreciated by players and fans alike and the stadium has been the major part in this.

Fenerbahçe Sukru Saracoglu Stadium is going through a complete rebuilding process which involves each stand being destructed and rebuilt one after the other. So far, the "Acik" stands (located behind the goals) and "Maraton" stand have been rebuilt. Every one of these stands have been built closer to the pitch, getting the fan closer to the action on the field.

This style of stadium has never before existed in Turkey, as the stands are usually separated from the pitch by a running track. The latest stand to have been completed is the Maraton stand. The VIP section can hold 11,000 spectators. This stand includes "Box Offices" which have all been rented out from the club. These Box Offices, equipped with TV's, Internet, work areas, dining facilities and many other luxuries, are the first of their kind in Turkey. With each the Acik stands having a 10,500 capacity, the current total capacity of the stadium is 52,000. When the whole construction is completed, this will rise to 60,000.

Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium is one of the favourite stadiums in Turkey.

Should Fener stick with Volkan as a keeper or bring in a foreigner like Daum wants to so badly.? I think Volkan is amazing, and is only going to keep improving. To make room on the squad we'd need to get rid of another foreigner, which would most likely be Aurelio.

And what do you guys think of Fatih Akyel? I think he deserves to be a sub like last season. I mean he is a really great defender but it seems to be everytime the ball leaves his foot it's a give away, his passes are ridiculous, and he continues to do long balls that never work.

1 more question, do you guys think that we've made enough transfers?

I think he should keep Volkan, remember when he brought in foreign goalkeeper Robert Enke? His loan got terminated after 1 match. I agree, Volkan will keep improving and it would be better for Fener to keep him as no.1 choice.

Aurelio is a very good player IMO. He's quick and has great passing. It would be better to loan him out.

Fatih Akyel IMO is a horrible defender, he play's for Fener but loves Gala, what kind of spirit is that? I think we should sell him for money so we can find a young replacement. I was hoping we would get Fatih Sonkaya but Besiktas took him. Very good player.

I think maybe one more in transfer. A right/centre defensive midfielder and we'd be complete IMO.

He was one of my favorites when he played for us. I think we got rid of him for foreign rules. I'd take him over Fatih Akyel anyday.

What's your take? Those are the actual rumours going around in the media, specifically Turkish Media haha, so the credibility is definately low.

I believe, Fenerbahce needs a very good Left Winger, 2 Strong Tall Defenders, and another Aurelio in the Midfield, but a little more offensive than defensive. Just a pure midfield runner like Gattuso.

This is our final Squad and some info on them

GK:

Volkan Demirel (First choice keeper for the U-21 team, now a Backup on the national team. Depending on Rustu's departure, WILL start games next year. One of Turkey's most promising goalies.)

Rustu Recber (Turkey's first choice keeper for many years, the "Panter" as his nickname at times alludes him with his inconsistant play, especially this year. Subject to leave and go back to Barca because he has a EU Passport now, so he wont be a foreigner.)

DF:

Fabio Luciano (Rumoured to leave, but lately is looking like he will stay. Probably one of the weaker defenders in the back line, his odd mistake and poor co-ordination make him a liability on the defense 50% of the time. But versatility is a plus, as he can play as an orthodox striker as well)

Servet Cetin (National team central defender. Although servet has decent qualities, his brain for the game is good, but his main problem is that his body cannot keep up with his brain haha. He usually delays tackles, which turn into fouls because they are so late. Strong in the air, good at corners, but has poor co-ordination as well and will have problems with quick strikers. Needs to get LESS cards in Europe)

Umit Ozat (Definately the brain of the defense. Played as a Left winger this year, Umit has a great cross, and good vision of the ball. He has a powerful accurate shot, but rarely used it, the few times he used it, he scored great goals this year. One lack is his speed, he's very slow, but his smart play usually makes up for it)

Onder Turaci (Probably the most promising defender on the team. Onder, just moving from Standierd Liege last season, posesses good vision, a good head, ability to handle fast defenders, and is able to make the odd run on the right flank)

Deniz Baris (Most definately the best defender that actually stays on defense. Deniz struggled at the beggining of the season, but shined in the second half. If he can keep those performances up, and his proneness to make simple mistakes down, can be very useful for the back line. Needs to be more aggressive)

Serkan Balci (Basically like a rabbit running around everywhere, Serkan is usually given the harder responsibilities of the team by usually givin free role to mark the better players on the opposing team. His quick speed and relentless efforts to make A tackle, even though its not needed half the time, makes him a very useful player for Daum and his often unorthodox tactics.)

Mahmut Hanefi Erdogdu ( A purely left footed defender, mimics the style of roberto carlos, but lacks the speed and strength of roberto carlos :). Has a bright future, but needs to move on loan or transfered to further his career. His playing opportunities have been very low this year. Although, he has a very very good cross.)

M:

Marco Aurelio (The most versatile player on the team. If there were a demographic to show where a player has played on the pitch in 90 minutes, the whole field would be painted a colour for him. The most useful stopper on the team, and the most useful defensive minded player on the team. Smart on the ball, and quick to act. Needs to work on body strength, he gets pushed around a lot, and needs to cool his temper a bit)

Tuncay Sanli (The golden boy of Turkish football pulled in a lacklustre performance this year. This can be to blame of Daums tactic of playing tuncay a position he never played before, but it works both ways. Tuncay, every since joining fenerbahce, always goes through a stint in the year where he plays poorely. Unfortunately this year it was too long. But when Tuncay is on his game, the chances are almost endless, the work ethic, stealing the ball in the midfield, and shots are just superb. Does look world class on form. Once he scores and gets his morale high in a game, he will be merciless to the opposing team.

Mehmet Yozgatli (Mainly a sub the whole year, possesses good pace, good crosses, but does tend to make many mistakes. But has proven to be a good substitute as he has always created chances when coming in. Has a tendency to hold the ball too long.)

Selcuk Sahin (Probably the most dissapointing player of the year. Daum has constatly played Selcuk despite poor performances, could be becuase of a lack of alternatives on the bench as well. Selcuk has a good long shot, but makes stupid decisions at important times. Makes awful fouls at uneccessary times. Needs to work really hard over the summer tobring back the form he had on the national team from the confederations cup and from Fenerbahce 2 seasons ago.

Kemal Aslan (hampered by injury again. not much to say about him)

Murat Hacioglu (Despite great performances in the pre-season friendlies. Failed to make the starting team, and only subbed on twice the whole season.)

Alex de Souza (The reason why Fenerbahce won the championship, nothing more to say)

FW:

Pierre Van hooijdonk (started the season great in the first half, scoring many goals, and helping Fenerbahce to victory in the Champions League matches. But injury during the break had ruined his chances to be brought back into the starting line-up, now left for NAC to finish his career)

Serhat Akin (My favorite player, but even i'll admit that he put in very inconsistant performances. I will partely blame Daum for playing a STRIKER as a RIGHT WINGER . :kader: ...idiot....anyways, Serhat at times looked like a complete superstar, and at other games, like complete trash. there is rumour he is leaving for Anderlecht, and i really hope he does. Because under Daum, he wont be played his natural position and will hamper his development. He is a player who is capable of scoring 20 goals. He had scored 19 under lorant and 15 under Denizli as a sub. Definately has potential, and hopefully anderlecht will play him his real position.

Marcio Nobre: (Nothing more to say about this guy, consistantly scores for Fenerbahce. He is a "Pounce on the opportunity" type player, he rarely takes the ball and make a run up front, usually puts home garbage. Useful at that)

Nicolas Anelka: (So - so. He didnt have many games this year, but has scored a few good goals. He still needs to get settled in first. Also needs to really show his worth next season, and i have a feeling he will)

Emre has clearly announced that he is not thinking of playing in the Turkiye for another 4-5 years. When he proves him self then he will come back to Galatasaray. This was said by Emre on TV about a month ago.

It's not even that big of a team come back to turkiye, come to bjk, gala, or fener like everyone knows he should have been a starter at inter, all my italian friends agree, and I think newcastle is a huge step down for him.

Yes I have to agree with you on that one. If he comes back to one of the beggest clubs in Turkiye at least he would have chance to play in the european competitions. Newcastle is not bigger then fener, gala or besiktas but I have to say the english premier league is a better league to play at.

Anderlecht and Turkish striker Serhat Akin are close to an agreement. The player can sign a contract for three years. The final negociations will take place next week.

Akin had already come to Brussels for a quick visit. At the end of the week and after the match against Kazakhstan on Wednesday, he is expected again in Brussels.

He is supposed to have the usual medical tests before signing the contrat. The 24-years-old player is at the end of his contrat in Fenerbahçe. Last week-end, he stayed on the bench during Turkey-Greece.

I disagree, he's not composed enough to be a winger, he's more reactive which suites the role of a striker, serhat scored a lot of goals when he got playing time on fener, this was also when he was younger, his skill has improved a lot.

on an other note...

UEFA made the right decision in letting Fenerbahce directly qualify for champs league, I still think it's stupid that england gets 5 teams now.

This rule was never broken before, real madrid was in the same situation but the spanish league sacrificed one of its smaller clubs. They didn't pressure uefa to change the written rules :kader:

I am not comparing Arif over Serhat man. What I am trying to say is that Serhat is more like Arif's style. A normal striker has to be tall like Hakan Sukur. I would not play Serhat as a striker but he would be a great pick as a forward player beside the striker, I would make him run to the wings so he can either cross or sneak through the defence. Where did you get the idea Nobre vs Arif kind of thing? Come on man I watched Arif since early 90s, he was one of my favourite players and untill Hakan Sukur left to Inter Arif played as a winger not as a striker. Arif's job was to cross not to score. How do you think that Hakan Sukur became famouse with headers? He owes Arif alot. Arif use to score like 6-7 goals per year but over 15 assists. About few years ago where we didn't had a striker when Jardel left the team, Galatasaray had no strikers and Arif was best pick and he became the Turkish goal scorer with Ilhan Mansiz. Yep as a forward player he should score goals if he loves to do so, Arif loved to assist so does Ribery. Even wingers are considered as forward players. But his height doesn't complete him being a striker IMO. The way he is built man, he looks like more like an attacking midfield or winger. Any who, thats just my openion. I would love to see a tall striker then a short one but you have a point, he also scored alot of goals.

Serhat scored too many goals in Turkey because he was playing as a striker when his first seasons with Fenerbahce..Werner Lorant put Serhat to forward with Kenneth Anderson 3 years ago but Daum didnt prefer Serhat as a striker..i think Serhat is like Saviola..fast and technical..but Serhat's finishing is not too good he must improve his finishing..

You forgot Rooney. But to me all these players are forwards not strikers. A striker's job is to score goals which he needs to be a great finisher, a forward's job is to destroy the defence with his speed, get in to crossing positions, basically assist the striker and the same time score goals if he can finish it with a shot.

I don't know I might be wrong but a striker's role is a little different than a forward, although both positions are related to each other.

no. this was the problem. IF liverpool were granted to be in the champions league directly, then Fenerbahce would have to play in the 3rd qualifying round. Since Fenerbahce's coefficient is so low, we would've played a tough opponent in the 3rd qualifying round.

Now that liverpool is playing in the qualifying, Fenerbahce has that last direct qualification spot secured.

So that means that whatever team finishes first in the Turkish League has to always play a qualification match to enter the CL? That's ghey.

Well, ultimately its Fenerbahce's coefficient. Galatasarays coefficient is the best in Turkey, and usually they aren't the last seeded team that goes in directly, because of the UEFA Cup victory. Even BJK's is higher than Fener's and Besiktas is usually the 2nd last or 3rd last spot in the direct qualification.

The proper thing to do would have been to sacrifice a team in the EPL for liverpool, but no.

I agree with you. But Schalke I dont imagine is too much better than Fenerbahce. with Fenerbahce, he would get regular European football, well hopefully haha. I think fenerbahce can go places if they can stregthen their weaknesses with players like Hamit. He would be great on the right, have Tuncay on the left, Maybe Emre in the middle with Alex ;). Who knows. All this transfer gossip bothers me because nothing is said and done yet. Just gotta play the patience game. :chew:

We've signed Bursaspor's 25 year old goalkeeper Serdar Kulbilge to a 3 year deal..

He's said to be a pretty good GK. I only watched him once on TRT, and he didn't even touch the ball in that particular game..

I think this is a bluff for Barca. You dont want to give us Rustu, we're fine with Volkan. But a security switch also. Now they will forget about keeper trasfer and go on for other positions. If they can get Rustu with a low price this will be good. If not, they will continue with Volkan and Serdar. And i also think Recep is on his way to Bursa

I'm also glad that the goalie is Turkish, as Fenerbahce continues its streak of having Turkish goalies. :jap:

no man, i don't mean to be negative about my country, but we won't qualify. My only hope is Turkiye now. My country's team has alot of problems and they begin with the guys in charge of the federation...they're serbs. We need bosnian guys in charge first and then we can think about qualifying.

That is splaintive for Bosnian people and Bosnian martyrs.Hopefully if your people exert pressure over those serbs, they would been kicked immediately.
And dont forget again that Turkish people are always with you. Your NT's veteran Elvir Bolic is still legend for Fenerbahce fans.

i'm a kit maker huz ,i know here is not fifa kit thread ,but i know in here many guys very understand the Fenerbahce kits , so i'll ask something , hope who can help me abou the Fenerbahce 06-07 kit.
(1) I can't see clear the words under the team logo ,who can post some big pics show me those word?

1)I tried to find big pictures but i couldnt.
But i can write here the words under the team logo. Those words are "Mazinde Bir Tarih Yatar" and the writing under those words is "1907-2007"

2) Again i couldn't find the big pic. But on that part, there is a "Fenerium"( Offical goods company of Fenerbahçe) security hologram. And the writings under the hologram are "Bu Ürün Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü Lisanslı Ürünüdür."Meaning of the words are "This is an offical kit of Fenerbahçe Sport Club"
