If the win against France was an «half-surprise» because the french are in a very bad shape, but still they are France, with some of the best players in the world like Henry, Zidane and Pires, this victory against the Czech Republic has shocked me. For me the czechs were the best and the strongest team of the tournament... Now Greece beat Czech Republic! Nah there was this really anoying poster called Lion Heart but hes not here anymore.

Next Sunday if the score remains 0-0 and as the clock advances the greeks will start to see their chances of wining increasing every minute forward because they will be playing their game, defending and waiting for an error of portugal, they did this the entire tournment and actually is their only chance to win a game against the major NT´s. Portugal to win. But the Greeks maybe will pull yet another upset. This one is too close to call - don't say it isn't. Greece already defeated Portugal under no controversial circumstances; fairly - no question. But they also lost to Russia and in my opinion any team that fails to beat Russia does not deserve to win EURO2004. No offence to the Russians.

Portugal are in great form and I doubt they'll lose. I hope it goes down to penalties though. So much excitement and suspense. Plus, if it does then Portugal have the advantage as they've got more experience in penalties.

I think that in the first game, Portugal really had no idea how well Greece would play in this tournament, and they really underestimated them. I believe that not only have they improved themselves through the tournament, but they will also be more... ready to face Greece. and the way i see it, Greece is due for a bad game. and keep in mind, portugal have home ground advantage, so i say Portugal 1-0 :confused:

this is "twisted fate" when it comes to this final

hahaha god i love these guys :D...Greece came to euro to gain like 3 points or at least battle for quaterfinal...all our stars was benching at their teams in europe...Rehhagel since he came used same squad and many critised him here in greece....He worked on this team in 3 years and he saw what the team could do and not do....and so u all know greece is the one who is giving revenge, and not portugal....Portugal is the one who is favorites and we are the ones who are gonna prove them wrong...we only been favorites one time...and it was against russia(i think)

Portugal, since they're a favorite and a strong team ... also, they'll be playing a "home-game" .... on the other hand, Greece - who's sprung everyone with surprises - which were an end result from hard work, determination and discipline ... BOTH teams will play their heart out on Sunday ... they're both after the same dream/goal - so I'm sure we'll get the best out of that game.

BOTH teams deserve our respect ... they've worked hard for this.

... even though I'll routing for Greece to win that trophy (and praying darn hard !) - I won't cry if they lose the title ... because for me - they've already come out as "winners" in this tournament. :)

Pauleta will be in the starting 11. It may seems like it's good news for the Greeks, but I have a feeling the Azorian Hurricane will deliver a hat-trick tomorrow. At least that's what he did this morning on my PES3 (and that's a good game).

Will we win it? I believe it! We need to score before them, that's for sure. If we do score early, we'll likely win by a comfy margin. Otherwise... it'll be a hard fought game.

Ronaldo and Figo will attack the flanks, which could cause yellow cards and open up Greece's defence. That'll be the gameplan, I think. A goal coming from a corner or a free-kick is also likely to happen again (and for both countries).

Portugal will have a stadium packed of fans and a country boiling in excitement. I believe it!

If Greece wins, they'll be the worst team to ever win this Euro in my opinion. I like upsets, but come on, this year has been dreadful. Once Caldas winning Libertadores (and they play even worst football than Greece : the latter at least counter-attacks, the first defend with 10 men the whole game and barely get a shot on goal), Santo André winning the Brazilian Cup final (which means we get 4 contenders for Libertadores next year, not 5, because Santo André are a 2nd division club with no money and they aint going anywhere).

Plus the CL final was rubbish. A final between Arsenal and Milan would be so much better for example. As i said, it's nice to have upsets, but it's getting so common nowadays that it's not even funny anymore. Portugal vs Czech Republic would be a cracker, now we'll get 90 mins of Portugal attack vs Greek defense, and the latter might end up winning the whole thing. I know someone will disagree, saying i only want the big teams to win it, but it's not the truth. I want the big teams to win it followed by upsets here and there. Not big teams being embarassed every year and weak teams winning all the important competitions playing terrible football.

Greece is a one-cup wonder if you ask me (*runs away*). I dont believe they'll grace the world in WC 2006. It's debatable if they'll even get past the group stage in Germany. If you take off Otto, then it's sure. But well, congratulations for them anyway. I imagine the happyness and the smile in every Greece fan (except the glory hunters) by now. Greece will play Portugal for the third since november. In both games portugal didn't play that well, but this time it's going to be much different (neither did Greece in the first). The 2 teams won't even recognize each other. I think both games were played in Portugal, Greece tied the first and won the second. So Portugal are in a bit of a slump against Greece.

exactly. why play with 32 teams in a WC tournament to begin with. just look at the FIFA rankings, throw the 8 best teams together and start at the quarters. all those football dwarves go home and stay where you are. your footy sucks! it's bad!

for starters, look at the WC final 2002. or at the CL final last year. four big names. fantastic, stellar, aesthetic, high-class football. all throughout. i am still thrilled, so good was it.... none of you annoying footy-developing countries will ever even remotely come close to it. you embarass us! f*ck off!

Terrible football for me is boring football. I didnt say that only the 8 best in the world should play, that was simak, and i believe he was being sarcastic. The CL final wasnt boring because Porto and Monaco played, but it would be better if there were other teams playing. And thumbs up for the Greek defense.

Otto rehagel will stay to after World cup in germany...hes dream is to get the world cup in germany...and if we play so sucky then why dont any team dare to attack all players if we suck so much and dont hit target....we got one of the best scoring rate...by that i mean scores per changes....to go to some markings
seitaridis takes on c ronaldo....fyssas on figo....kapsis on pauleta....dellas is taking the libero role...katsouranis on deco....zagorakis on maniche and the others will be unsure...and our weakest point is to get back in score in first 10 mins and then if portugal continues to press..(which they do) that was spains misstake by backing home and their defence sucks even if their players is world class....

This will be a very disputed match. I think that some people (but clearly not the majority, thankfully) are a bit too euphoric, thinking Portugal has already won. Well, as obvious as it seems, you don't win anything before actually entering the field and doing it there. The chances are the same for both teams. I'm pretty sure this is going to be our hardest game in this Euro. The Czechs were a better team (the ones that played better in the Euro) and had the better players, but Greece beat them, they ended up deserving it and they are going to be an even harder opponent than the Czechs, because of their amazing spirit and playing style. It's exactly the style we Portuguese don't like, very defensive, with many men behind the ball, that pressure a lot, not giving space and time to our players.

So, Portugal is not favourite! I don't understand how some still keep underestimating Greec after they beat us, the French and the Czechs. They have been great in this tournament, they're not a surprise anymore. They like this, they like to be considered the underdogs. The only time they were considered favourites, they lost. With Portugal, we all know the same things happen. We usually don't deliver when considered favourites. That's why we need to play with the same spirit we have since the game against Spain, with the same strenght, concentration and determination. We need to be patient and fully respect the Greek team and their strenghts. IMO, we need to play even better than against Spain, England and Holland. We need to be (almost) perfect!

Anyway, of course we should be confident, with faith and positive energy! But not thinking we already won and it's going to be easy! It won't! And the truth is that Greece can perfectly win it. It can happen and we should be ready for that possibility. If that happens, let's hope not, it will be heart-breaking, but we should also realize we already achieved something great and be proud of our team!

Like we've done so far, let's all be behind our NT! Let's give them full support and energy! With our help, they can do it once again and achieve the goal we all want! Let's also pray that the "football gods" are with us, so that we also have the necessary luck to win. Let's belive, let's believe, let's believe! The glory is near! PORTUGAL!!! :)

Germany was the less ordinary of that Euro, let's put it that way. I dont blame anyone for winning anything, if you won it you deserved it. Even Greece, as much as i dislike their style of play and their tactics, they'll deserve it for being so good at defending.

Well, whether you guys think Greece plays boring soccer or not really doesn't matter to any of the Greeks in this world. We think the same of the Italians and the Germans, but whenever we win we don't talk about how they are "destroying" football. So shut up about that, and just accept that just because we are the reason your team isn't in the final, doesn't mean we've ruined the sport. If France really wanted to be there, they could have. Same with Italy, same with Germany, and Czech. The point is we are in the final for a reason. Because we scored goals, and we didn't let our opponents score any on us.

I am behind my country 100%, and I really believe that this is definately too good of an opportunity to waste. Greece will win this one because they have the heart to do it, and they are also doing it for the millions and millions of Greeks all over the world who have never been so proud to be Greek.

And when we win, all hell's gonna break loose :rockman:

I'll tell you why I think Portugal will win.

In the first match they were too nervous and their starting line-up was much different to the one they use now.

Portugal finished with 6 points, Greece only with 4. Portugal beat Spain, Greece drew. Portugal easily beat Russia, Greece lost! (How did this happen?)

Portugal will have studied all of Greece's tapes and found out how to score and also how to defend.

Greece will have studied Portugal's tapes but Scolari always has a few extra tricks up his sleeve. (Who's to say Rahaggel doesn't though?)

I just have a strong feeling Portugal will win.

Greece only plays well when they are the underdogs - this is very evident. Against Russia they lost when they were major favourites. Now that they've defeated Czech Republic and France people are giving them much shorter odds and more are expecting them to win.

Guys dont be so sure about portugal winning i was thinking about a thing this morning....greece had hard time against 2 strikers (4-4-2) but portugal is giving our defencea little easy work with pauleta alone.....but the big fight will be in the right and left side...and in the first match we could even score more goals if we didnt were so afraid of portugal....but we got shocked that they got that bad start :D...but i agree that portugal will press in every way

3 hours and 15 minutes to go. We're all pumped up for the big game here! Personally, I went to the beach to catch some suns and watch the babes in the morning, now I'll be joining a couple friends in one of Porto's main squares and we'll watch the big match.

As for the game...

It's 50/50. Both teams have faced difficult tasks to get to the final, and both teams will have to fight for a win today. I think the mood of the team is very good, and we have a high morale going into the game while maintaining cautiousness. I just simply can't believe some Greeks think they'll win based on the first game, especially since the Portuguese squad has had 5 significant changes within the starting 11 within the group-phase.

Pauleta is fatigued, and his form hasn't been impressive, but he'd go down in history still if he scored today, and I really don't think he's been as bad as everything thinks he has. He has tried very hard, and if anyone on our squad deserves a goal this last game, it's him.
