View Full Version : Atmoshpere.........
ntigers2004 06-07-2004, 08:06:PM I don't know about you guys, but i reckon when playing it is vital that there is an atmosphere to get the heart rate going and then people won't really even care about the gameplay as much(unless it really sucks), like in 2003 when i want to play barca (yay) v real (boo) it feels as if i am playing new zealand against usa, i was just recently playing euro 2004 and i thought that there was a massive improvement in the atmospherical point of view, i don't really know what makes it, ea should really look into this though as i think it will make a major improvement to the game.
Cheers
Rochester Rhino 06-07-2004, 09:14:PM Just as important as gameplay improvement i think is atmosphere improvement with fan interaction
Mel Brennan 06-07-2004, 09:44:PM The realistic reaction of fans is the second most important thing, after gameplay. Why?
Its the aspect of the football experience consumers are likely to know best, to know intimately.
We know what fans do, how they move, hoe they react, the atmosphere the create because...we ARE those fans.
EA (and Konami, to be fair) have underestimated this aspect of game creation regularly.
They don't see how realistic fan simulation suspends disbelief; combined with the Prime Directive (gameplay), that's all we really need. Especially on PC, where everything else is editable...
Ny8La8 07-07-2004, 02:00:AM The atmosphere needs to be REALISTIC!!! Simply adding some chants into a game doesnt mean "immersive atmosphere". I mean, sum stadiums such as Ali Sami Yen have a much more different atmosphere than a french stadium or an english one.
on that note, many more NEW chants for each team is necessary.
crowd noise is just as important as gameplay at times.
Carry on....
Victorious 07-07-2004, 02:57:PM Yeah... And even if they added something like if somone takes a long shot, the supporters behind the goals stand up in anticipation. Pending on the result of the shot, they either sit back down or start jumping and hugging each other. The crowd MUST also be the same colour as the home side's kit. A few business suits would be cool also, but you shouldnt really see them standing up and cheering.
Brondbyfan 07-07-2004, 03:16:PM I think EA is working on the presentation to make it more TV-like. This is much appreciated. I thought 2003 did a better job of this, the game just felt more exciting. You got updated on the number of corners won and possession and such, just as on TV. This, and crowd response, will be crucial editions. I play Arsenal vs. Man U at Highbury and feel like I'm watching a tennis match for how exciting it is in 2004.

Yeah, 'FIFA 2003 was more exciting all-round as far as I'm concerned.
Rport03 08-07-2004, 08:25:PM True but in 05 they are talking about a new tv style and yes in Euro 2004 it did alot better job than in Fifa 04. In regards with players hugging and all that should be kept more for the cut scenes, Like during replays of goals they should have a cut scene of a crowd standing up then like someone said when they scores they hug and you see flags waving etc.... They are saying that in a tournament and someone fouls you'll see them pushing more and the ref will be more aggressive, and in a friendly match you'll proably see the players shake hands and the ref will give a yellow card, so that shows you the level and the emotion or a very important game and win... As someone gets closer to the goal you should here the cowd slowly build up a large chant and emotion and if the player misses you'll here a big "Awwwww" and if he scores it should be a huge excitment and cheers. When I play fifa or for that matter Euro 04 I have the tv loud really for the effect and excitment of the game.... But with the tv style presentaion that there bringing into 05 it should be interesting how they do that, and in a video I belive we already saw some of it, I belive the shot went past the goal and before the goal kick they had a "cutscene" of a player running etc... things like that add to it, like when someone misses show more emotion in there face, show the coaches screeming is someone misses and show they with the other sideline players and staff cheer and hug when there team scores.... Theres sooo much they could add and could go on and on but this all adds to the game along with gameplay and just as important, it brings the game to life and makes it for an enjoyable game for a bunch of friends to play....
cheesegrater 07-08-2004, 02:20:PM I hope there is realistic Atmosphere simulation with live update of atmospheric weather data from the internet.
In the middle of the game, global warming comes and the players errupt in fire and spontaneously combust.
RuiCosta_10 08-08-2004, 04:35:AM The atmosphere is one of the worst things Fifa has... I hope they improve on that. :)
ntigers2004 09-08-2004, 03:28:PM watch how the crowd reacts in this video from pes4 - very realistic.

ishan1990 09-08-2004, 10:44:PM thats ok i guess, it looks kind of odd.
maybe it would look better without that **** music playing:D
ntigers2004 10-08-2004, 03:07:PM well it's better than fifa in a way, compare it to real life, the premier league watch a few goals they stand a while while the shot is in the air on the ground what ever then when it goes in they go crazy and jump around
