KEZMAN COMPLETES BLUES SWITCH
Monday 12th July 2004

Kezman: Super striker

Mateja Kezman has completed his move to Premiership Chelsea after being granted a work permit, sealing an €8 million transfer from Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven on Monday evening.
The Serbia & Montenegro international signed a deal with the club last week, but was waiting for confirmation that he would be granted a work permit by the Home Office.

"I'm very glad that I'm here, it's a fantastic club with a great history and has a good team," Kezman told Chelsea's website.

"I've got the best record in the history of the club (PSV). I just need some time and (Chelsea's) supporters need to be patient, but I'm sure it'll be okay."

New Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has already indicated his pleasure at bagging one Europe's top strikers - and is ready to slot him into his plans for the coming season.

The 25-year-old faces major competition for the striker spots in the starting XI with Eidur Gudjohnsen, Hernan Crespo and Adrian Mutu all in contention.

Mourinho has already indicated that Gudjohnsen has impressed in training, whilst Crespo's future is still unclear.

Should the Argentine leave Stamford Bridge, it appears that Didier Drogba will be targeted by The Blues.

"I like Kezman because he is not yet a top world star," said Mourinho to Sky Sports News. "But he is already scoring more goals than many accepted world stars.

"He will work for the team."

Good luck to Kezza, one of my favourite players. Hope he does well at Chelsea, Go Kezman & Blues ! (H)

Kezmannnnnnnn !

Damn. Chelsea look like they will win the Premiership. Maybe even Championsleague. The new Russian owner has been reaching deep into his pockets lately...

Roman hasn't been that active compared to last summer. Though with Mourinho in charge I doubt that Roman will be crazily buying players for a loooong time. Unless he starts doing so for his Russian team....

That's only if Crespo leaves (read it on soccernet)

Marseille already rejected Chelsea's bid. I could see them trying to talk to him though even if Crespo stays, since Kezman's move is down to a work permit right now.

What bull. Chelsea got him for 5 million pounds, 2 million less that what we paid for Smith. Why oh why didn't we go in for Kezman??? :| Anyway, I bet if we did, PSV would have sent us for a ride looking to get like 27 million or some crap, yet they can sell him to moneybags Chelski for 5 million. What nonsense...

Even with loads of cash, Chelsea has been rather smart when buying

Kezman for less cash than Smith is a joke. He should be worth double.

They're getting pretty good deals lately. Although last season they were atrocious in this aspect. 17 million for Duff? :kader:
