At no point was Family Guy ever better than the Simpsons when that show was in its prime. Family Guy may at times be more ingenious than the recent Simpsons but so what, that's like me bragging that right now in 2004 I can run faster than Roger Bannister. He's 75 ****in' years old.

The Simpsons is simply the greatest cartoon ever made. I would put Family Guy above any Disney Cartoon though!

Why did I post in this thread? Because I watched the American Dad trailer earlier, and I couldn't believe people were praising it. I look at Family Guy the same way I look at Star Wars. I thought Star Wars was just an average movie with some pretty poor acting. When everyone acts like it was the second coming of Christ it's just bewildering. That's how I feel about Family Guy. An average TV show that for some reason unbeknownst to me gathered this enormous following. Comparing it to the Simpsons is like comparing Star Wars to Citizen Kane. Like Family Guy if you want, but to claim it's somehow brilliant is absurd. Personally, I do not think it was that funny, and American Dad is much worse, since it's essentially the same with the stupidity factor upped exponentially. I would be stunned if it got picked up by a major network.

I would put Family Guy above any Disney Cartoon though!

You must have never seen Sorcerer's Apprentice. Or Lion King. Or 101 Dalmatians. Or a bunch of other Disney cartoons.

I loved Family Guy, got them all on DVD. This show, well, as much as i wanted to, i didnt laugh once. Pretty bad. Reminded me of why sitcoms are so bad these days. Dont know how Macfarlane can produce gold with FG, and garbage with this. Family Guy is supposed to come back, so the sooner this show tanks (soon by the looks) the better for FG.

EDIT: i looked it up, and Macfarlane isnt one of the main writers. explains a lot. The main writers, are responsible for the show, "Method and Red". Explains even more. Macfarlane is doing voice work and directing for this show, directing a cartoon watever that means.

I never watched Family Guy on a regular basis but whenever I was flippin channels and saw that it was on I watched it and laughed my ass off, the one episode that I can remember was when the dad finds out that he's actually black (H), that was pure genius. Anyway I've always been a Simpsons fan and I don't allow myself to watch any other cartoons similar to it because I don't want to distance myself from the Simpsons :hump:

The simpsons have lost their touch , it used to be really funny. Now it's not as funny. My favourite show of all time are the critic (which is like Family guy but not as funny) the family guy, king of the hill, old simpsons and Seinfeld. American dad looks promising.
