First, for online playing sake, it would be nice to be able to save match summaries and statistics to a file, using an XML format (Wayne Gretzky Hockey used to do something similar years ago). This would greatly enhance the possibilities for online leagues as players could send in their match report files containing the statistics from the match.
Second, it would be nice to be able to save "highlights" from games to files separate from the main replay section as a kind of "game highlight reel". For example, instead of replay00.sav, the names might be g04rply0.sav, g04rply1.sav, ... g04rply6.sav.
In general, it would also be nice if replays would also record a game time index and the current skill level.
Also, to make it less obtrusive to capture these highlights, especially during online matches, the user could simply hit keys 1-6 on the keyboard during match play to instantly select replays for the highlights. The files could then be submitted with the XML match summary listed above to league commissioners.
Third, during replays the camera angles often leave something to be desired. A new "Free Fixed" camera would solve this problem. Allow the user to choose a point in space, and then fix the camera there while the action continues.
