I was at the game, it was so even, both sides were as good as the other. I thought the Australians were brilliantly organised and not scared of Brazil. They played freely and were just as often attacking the Brazilian goal as the Brazilians attacked the Aussie goal.
The Brazilians have some absolutely stunning players, both countries have some young players who are going to be stars of the future.

great game? were we watching the same game? There wasnt one clear shot at the goal from both sides, both teams strugled the whole game just to get past midfield. I guess Im spoiled after watching the Brasileiro Finals, did anyone watch Sao Paulo x Ponte? to me it was one of the best games this year, it was a best of 3 matches and in all games the team that started with the lead lost.

Sao Paulo won the first game after trailing by 2x0 in the first half, then Ponte Preta won the second match scoring 2 goals in the last minutes of the second half 2x1 and on the last match Sao Paulo won again by 3x2 after trailing 2x1 in the first half.

The best game of the Youth World cup was Brazil Ghana in the semi finals, that should have been the final.
It was one of those games that if you were at the ground it was enthralling to watch, i watched it on video later and it didnt have the same atmosphere to it on tv.
One thing to remember is that soccer isnt even one of the top 6 sports in New Zealand and to have a capacity crowd turn up to watch it does say something about how the tournament had gone and what the public had thought of the soccer they had seen.
I think it was the same as the 1994 world cup final between Italy and Brazil, the final game not living up to the rest of the tournament.
Personally i thought it was great to be at the ground and i enjoyed the game, such a shame all the negative whiners come out and make dumb statements.

Dont even compare world cup94 to that game, because both teams in world cup94 had plenty of chances to score, unlike australia x brazil. And what upset me the most in that game was how both teams were more concerned in beating the crap out of each other then playing the game.

Italy still Rules! All Brazil cares about is flash. European Soccer is dominant. France proved that this year. Italy has not lost a regulation game in three World Cups in the elimination phase. Italy, Germany, Holland England or France take your pick any of them will beat Brazil in the next World Cup. Youth Soccer is meaningless. If it maent anything Aussies would not be in the final!

The shots stats didnt tell you much because Brazil ran out of any new ideas after the first half and after that all they could come up with were long range shots that really didnt cause too much bother.

If Europe is so dominant, how come at the youth world cup all the European sides were knocked out in Pool play. pretty sad that Europes top qualifier was knocked out by lowly New Zealand.
If the youth world cup is so meaningless how come players like Maradona, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, maldino etc have all played in it?

Italy still rules hahaha that was a funny joke man.....If Italy ruled they would not have lost that friendly game against Hungary....3X0....don't get all defensive just because Brazil has gone to the last two finals in the last two world cups....besides we can beat any of those teams that you have listed.....just bring it on and we'll destroy your little Italy.....your crappy team can't even make it to the olympic games I bet.....man just sleep it off and leave us Brazilians out of your little comments.....We don't have to prove anybody anything....

ZZUB and does a new zeland now about FOOTBALL? I bet Ive been to more soccer games in one year here in Brasil then you have in your whole life.

Why do you get so upset when I say the truth about that game, both teams were to focused on stoping plays then creating.

And what is that crap about Brasil running out of ideas in the first half? At least they had some in the first half unlike australia that strugled the whole game. And if they are the stars of the future we are ****ed, well at least will have good goalkeepers.

Snake121 could you tell me who has won the more world cups SouthAmericans or Europeans?

I was born in Scotland, have been to many games in Scotland, England and have played and watched soccer my whole life, all 37 years of it. I've also been to Brazil, and watched 3 games there while touring your wonderful country. I also toured Chile and Argentina. I was at the 1982 Spain world cup cheering for New Zealand when we lost to your fabulous 82 team with Zico and Socrates among its players. What a sanctimonious attitude to ask what someone from New Zealand would know about football, shows nothing less than pure ignorance. You miss the whole point, for a non soccer country this tournament has been a huge success and not all games have to have lots of goals and chances to be enthralling.
And Brazil simply ran out of ideas after half time, they never looked like getting past Australias defence which was a 4-4-2 setup, in fact they frequently used their #3 wing back to come forward. You sure you watched the game closely or did you just see the highlights on the news.
My guess is you have never been outside south america and wouldnt know where New Zealand was such is the arrogance of your posting

Well New Zeland would be in the oceania, and as for me being ignorant well you should read what you been writing.

"Personally i thought it was great to be at the ground and i enjoyed the game, such a shame all the negative whiners come out and make dumb statements."

And your guess was wrong Ive been outside south america alot, Im portuguese and Ive been in brasil for only 2 years. One think I have to agree with you, Brasil ran out of "ideas" in the second half, but hey at least they had some in the first half.

"What a sanctimonious attitude to ask what someone from New Zealand would know about football, shows nothing less than pure ignorance."

I dont think so, you said your self that Football is not even among the top6 sports in New Zeland, so what do they know about it if they dont even know whats Football. And dont take me wrong theres nothing wrong with not liking/knowing football, theres plenty of sports that portugal/brasil dont have a clue about, its not like Im trying to offend then when I say they dont know much about Football.

So just get a grip and chill out and enough of the stupid personal attacks. I was bitching about the game not about you, so if you cant take someones opinion in a civilised way just stay away from forums.

ps: Ive seen you been double posting alot and not to take space in the forum you can delete your post by clicking on the "edit icon" shown above your post. And while in the edit screen cheking the "delete? to delete this post, check this box.".

"My guess is you have never been outside south america and wouldnt know where New Zealand was such is the arrogance of your posting"

If you think its ignorant to suppose then your pretty damn ignorant and ironic. Wise up I was talking about the game and you act like a jerk posting personal attacks grow up.

The Aussies were for on legends. They qualified for a final that they weren't even supposed to get into. How about that. I believe Australia has a very high standard in soccer, as this showed but it lacks the numbers playing it to discover the freaks such as Ronaldo and Romario. If we all played soccer instead of football (league, union and afl), cricket and the other sports we seem to concerntrate on we would be up there in the top 5 nations of the world. As I believe the USA would. It is strange but soccer in Australia is the number one sport for juniours but drops to number 7 for adults. If we could keep people playing soccer, we would go so much better.

Weren't any of you guys sick of Brazils dives? Are they pussys or penalty milkers?

edu

I was sick with Brasil "dives" as much as I was sick with both teams being more concerned in stoping plays then creating plays.(specialy the aussies, does Mcdonald ring a bell?)
