We need a patch for 6 months and for that Albertini is better. SA players, usually, need some time to adapt to our style, I agree with Rijkaard. However, that wouldn't be a problem for Maxi López, because all the pressure is for Eto'o and Maxi wouldn't need to be a top scorer. Besides a forward can adapt his style faster. Since Udinese want to much money for Iaquinta, Maxi López looks like a good option, he's also younger.

At the moment we know that Rijkaard doesn't want Saviola only for the press, but since they're looking for a forward who would come signed for many years, I don't know if this is a confirmation and the door is definitely closed for Saviola.

Yeah he needs to be more careful with the yellow cards. In Portugal it was the same, he was booked alot of times. I think in Portugal most of his yellow cards were mostly due to protests (temper, temper) and some harsh tackles. In Barcelona i think the fact that he plays in a more defensive role in crucial zones (preventing counter attacks or dangerous offensive plays) explains the fact why he is getting even more yellow cards.
Anyways im pleased to see that you guys are satisfied with his performances. I remember in the beginning of the season that there were alot of doubters. I agree the first goal is the most important one in a match, and Belletti touched the ball with his had, so it's pk. With 1-0 you never know what would have happened.

I couldn't watch the game so I can not say anyting about the other one (I have only read about 2 possible pk, not 3). I have just seen a quick highlights now in luchtime news.

As I said last week when the reff helped Madrid against Zaragoza, I think this season the mistakes are balanced.

And talking about the match itself, it's a very surprising score. I had a party yesterday night and a friend was phoned everytime a goal was scored. We even thought it was a joke.

Sevilla is a very strong team and hadn't lost any game at home.

Anyway, Madrid press was already talking as if they were in the top of the table this week, with no respect at all for Barça. Like if we weren't playing ... I guess they will have to inevent something new this week. Maybe they will insist that Florentino should buy Ronaldinho and that it would be easy to do it ...

Last year we did blame the referees for helping madrid. And it's true that we've been fortunate with some calls this season. But we're not complaining about how the referees call some plays in favor of madrid. That was last season. Now it appears the refs are helping us. I say: Ok, finally justice. But what makes me pissed off is that Madrid fans are pissed off that WE get the refs on our hand right now.

The madrid fans just turned the situation. It's not us being hypocrite, it's them. They got favoured a lot of times last season and they didn't say anything. Now WE get favoured and suddenly all madrid fans point their fingers out at the referees.

Anyway, the results won't change and there's nothing you can do.

Honestly, I think they should introduce video-refereeing into football. But I guess 'americanizing' the sport won't happen in the near future keeping in mind that everyone here in Europe has been so anti-america lately... It's a shame...

Barça had a similar game against Villarreal. We lost 3-0, Villarreal's first goal was offside and the ref didn't see a penalty of Reyna. Who can guarantee that that goal and the penalty wouldn't have changed the game?. I think Barça lost because we couldn't score in 90 minutes though.

I understand the complaints but I don't think Barça won thanks to the ref. The result was 0-4, although was unfair because Barça was better but not that much. A 0-4 doesn't leave many doubts.

It was an obvious penalty when Belletti handballed, but I don't think there should have been other penalties.

In the end, we got a deserved win.We were more dominant in the second half than Sevilla were in the first.

0-4 doesn't reflect the difficulty of the match.

As for Albertini, he came in after the break (subbed Belletti thank God) and did well. But it was crucial to take out Belletti. I don't know what happened to him last night.

Edmílson and Thiago Motta will return to Barcelona on February 7 to continue on the road to recovery after undergoing some rehabilitation in Brazil.


The two midfielders are now in the second phase of their recuperation from knee ligament injuries at the Center of Rehabilitation at CF Sao Paulo in Brazil.

The current situation

According to the Barcelona medical team, Motta now has full mobility in his knee and has begun running exercises which he has repsonded to well and will continue with a muscular strengthening programme.

Edmílson's recovery is also going well and he has now completed his aerobic work in the swimming pool and has also started to run. His knee is said to be stable and his balance has returned.

Mexico in tug-of-war with Barca over Marquez

Mexico have accused Spanish club Barcelona of being disrespectful in a tug-of-war over the release of Rafael Marquez for next week's World Cup qualifier in Costa Rica.
Mexico want Marquez -- a midfielder for his club and a central defender for his country -- to join their training camp on Friday or Saturday at the latest. But they say Barcelona want him to play at the weekend and only travel on Monday.

"It is a lack of respect, not to me personally, but to what we represent at this moment and to what we are playing for," said national team director Guillermo Cantu in a statement on the Mexican federation's official website.

"This is the final round and we need to be at our strongest. A player of this stature is important for us."

Atletico want money for him and they probably think they can get around €40m. Now there's not many (if any) clubs that can or would be willing to pay that right now(except Chelsea)so if we offered them Saviola OR Riquelme + 15-20 mil they might accept that.

Riquelme alone should be enough. Saviola + 10 would be also fair.

IMO Barca will get him at the end.

I just think, Saviola and Riquelme for Torres is good enough, Savi and Riquel 2 top players. (Y)

I repeat what I said in the game thread started by the r.madrid plague after Athletico scored.

Athetico just came to defend the 0-0. They found goal in the fisrt minute in a strange play well finished by Torres.

After that they just kick any leg on the picth in the fist half and kicked the ball away when there was a fault ... miserable football of a little team.

We didn't know how to attack a 10-11 men defence, attacking all the time by the center, no wings. This is a problem that we have already had.

By the way, Perea (DC) man of the match.

Reff pathetic ... none of the penalty was right. He forgave many yellows to athletic players and ...

What a poor match.

Puyol was our best player. Xavi, Deco, Eto'o, Giuly...nothing.A big NOTHING. Zip.
Belletti is crap. Inaccurate passes, bad dribbles...very poor.
Ronaldinho had his moments but he's like me (tends to miss penalties)...
But it doesn't matter, it wasn't a penalty and we didn't deserve to equalise like that. Though it worries me that we miss penalties like this.

In the end, Atletico deserved this. They played a very smart match, shut down Ronaldinho and disabled us to do anything.

I disagree. I think At.M. played the perfect defense. Look what they did to Ronaldinho. He was always covered by at least 2 players, and they rarely really fouled him, it was mostly fair and clean tackles reffed in our favour because it's Barcelona and because it's Ronaldinho.

every time there was a fault they kicked the ball away. Although that's more a problem of teh reff that let them do it.

And in the first half there have been 10 minutes when have kicked everything, specialy Marquez.

today it was not neceassy to cover ronaldinho. He had a terrible day.

I agree, they did use a lot of tricks, but come to think of it, how can you beat this Barcelona at the Nou Camp if you're not gonna play at least a bit dirty?

I'm worried that we can have such a bad match when Madrid is closing in...

And the ref should have sanctioned those ball kickings...especially of Torres, Ibagaza and Jorge. They did it when it was crucial for us to make a counter attack.
