Why did he change his shirt number at liverpool from last season?

He took the vacant shirt number that used to be Heskey's shirt.

Often the top players in a team want a squad number between 1-11 for obvious reasons.

If ur in the 1-11(or 1-15) your often in the top crop of players.

But then again squads are so large these days it doesnt really matter.

So he can be compared to other past great Liverpool Number 8's
