View Full Version : What I Want In FIFA 2005

FIFA 2004 was good, I've had it for 8 months now, and I'm getting bored. It's a very good game though, probably the best FIFA game yet in gameplay and graphics, but NOT in enjoyment and atmosphere. That's got to go to '97 or '00.

Anyway, here is a list of things I would like to see in FIFA 2005 in order to make it a GREAT football game:

1. I think that EA should bring back Des Lynam to do the introduction to every match. Say who is playing and then hand over to John Motson. I think they did this in a previous FIFA, and as Mr. Lynam is the smoothest-talking englishman, he definitely deserves a place in 2005. It would also give the feeling that Des is presenting the TV show, which would fit in nicely with their 'absolute broadcast' idea.

2. Give the crowd some flares in evening games! Nothing gives a night-time champions league match that amazing atmosphere better than a load of flares blazing away in the crowd. The colour of the flare could be co-ordinated with the teams playing. I hate to say it...but it's been done in PES3! And it's a really nice touch if you ask me. I'd love to see it in a new FIFA game.

3. Handballs. There's been plenty of times in FIFA 2004 when a player has been running along with his hand stuck in the air to call a pass, only to have a low cross smack off his wrist and out. If the referee could blow for handballs it would add an extra bit of realism to the game.

4. Visual substitutions would be nice. To see one of your players run off and his substitution replace him from the byline would be cool. You could even have the guy that holds up the electronic sign with the player numbers on it!

5. I think that FIFA 2005 should show the players returning to the pitch for the 2nd half, which wasn't shown in 2004 - it just changed from the menu screen straight to the players waiting for kick-off.

6. Indoor mode! Go on! It was great in...97, was it? Can't remember that far back. But it was great fun, with all the squeeking boots and stuff. I think it would be a great addition. Although probably not very realistic.

7. Players who have been running for a long time and are really tired should miskick the ball every once in a while. Players don't always get a good smack at the ball, so a slice would be good, or even the weaker players falling over when they try to hit it. Maybe a bit too stupid? I don't know.

8. The crowd should go wild when a player starts a fast run up the wing, like they do in real life. When you get an opening down the wing and leg it as fast as possible, you want the crowd to be cheering you on and shouting, not quiet like in previous FIFAs.

9. A new goal celebration for the players could be running to the byline and taking off their shirt like many do in real matches. However, I think there's a new rule that says players who take off shirts are automatically booked. So maybe not.

10. Include a 'Streaker Cheat'! At some random point of the match a streaker runs onto the pitch past all your players, followed by a crowd of security guards. Think of the hilarious cut-scenes you could include!

OK, so that's what I'd like to see in FIFA 2005. It may seem picky, but I'm a picky person. The littlest things impress me, such as flares, handballs and Des Lynam. Please let me know if you agree, or possibly even disagree with any of these (surely not!?).

I'm all for the streaker cheat:D

But that intro where lynam hands the game over to motson would be nice...

Too late, i think the main base of the game it's done, now it's just graphical and some AI improvements...
