xxxFLYERxxx 18-08-2004, 10:27:AM England team to play Ukraine: James, Neville, Cole, Terry, King, Beckham, Butt, Lampard, Gerrard, Owen, Smith.
Shevchenko and Rebrov are called up but I dont know if they will play.
England U-21s beat Ukraine U-21's 3-1 today.
yoyo913 18-08-2004, 11:43:AM 3-1 England
Sheva
Smith
Owen
Lampard
Pontiakos 18-08-2004, 11:44:AM Ukraine.....1-0 Shevchenko goal

when is it playing...?
shokz 18-08-2004, 12:05:PM Ukraine will probably win from a Shevchenko brace, if he does play. But as its only a Friendly i'm not sure if I really give a toss about the result, just hope that Neville and Smith don't pick up any injuries. Sky Sports are showing it here as they do with every England game, but I don't think I can be arsed to watch it.
Eng4WorldCup 18-08-2004, 12:41:PM its showing it at 2:30pm here (which means a 730 kickoff??)
I think Sheva will play and captain for the first 45 mins.
I dont think he'll score. But if he does I can bet it'll be a beaut.
Ebonix 18-08-2004, 02:50:PM Program starts at 7:30pm here on BBC1. I reckon 2-1 too England.
Gerrard
Owen
Rebrov
rhizome17 18-08-2004, 02:56:PM I would normally go for Ukraine if it weren't for the fact SWP is likely to come off the bench and score or at the very least set something up.
So I will go for a sporting 1-1 draw.
Shindig 18-08-2004, 04:19:PM 0-0
Trust me.
VanTheMan 18-08-2004, 04:26:PM England have a good squad this game.
i say 3-1 to England
with Smithx2,Lampard
just hope any players don't get injured(especially man utd players)
TOON ARMY 18-08-2004, 05:33:PM 1-1 in front of a half capacity St James' Park
It's been boycotted becuase we want Sven OUT!
b-ytter 18-08-2004, 05:39:PM 3-0 to england!:)
3 - 1 England
Smith Brace
Shevchenko
Wright-Phillips
houston3721 18-08-2004, 07:50:PM who will be the number 8 ? Butt?
hope to see Butt and Smith score :D
England 2:1 Ukraine
Butt
Smith
Shevchenko
everyone thinks just because Shevchenko is the best player out of Ukraine, he'll score :o
There's this other dude called Andrei Varobey (sp?) and Sergei Rebrov who I think still hasnt lost it. Its also been a while since Sheva-Rebrov played together.. Remember how great were they at Dynamo Kiev? Those were nice memories seeing Spanish teams bow to Shevchenko (H)

England 7-7 Ukraine
SWP x7, Sheva x7
biased? :hump:
Spurs4Life 19-08-2004, 01:44:AM Atleast the new Fifa rule on substitutes will make for a better game and performance, but 6 substitutes can still be used. Sven said he will use 3 subs at half-time, probably Owen, Beckham and Gerrard being the early subs.
Atlas 19-08-2004, 01:56:AM England 3-1 Ukrania
Owen
Gerrard
Smith
Shevchenko
Payaah 19-08-2004, 02:09:AM Beckham
Goalie233 19-08-2004, 02:10:AM 1-0 Beckham sliding into Terry's cross.
Atlas 19-08-2004, 02:10:AM Beckham what?
TOON ARMY 19-08-2004, 02:10:AM 1-0, Beckham assisted by Terry.
Goalie233 19-08-2004, 02:13:AM Ukraine are too trigger happy, every time they find a tiny bit of space on englands defensive third they rip a shot.
Mikey 19-08-2004, 02:17:AM wtf? FSW in the states is showing this, and not FSW in Canada:f***:
Mikey 19-08-2004, 02:21:AM from soccernet.com's matchtracker, on Beckham goal.
I spoke too soon. Pin point cross from John Terry (???) finds Beckham scoring from open play. What's going on here?
:funny:
Spurs4Life 19-08-2004, 02:29:AM Total domination in that first half, Should have more goals. Beckham and Gerrard had a good first half. Hopefully substitutions don't ruin the flow of the game.
Eng4WorldCup 19-08-2004, 02:36:AM beckham is playing very well... tracking bakc ALOT... i hope hes out to prove it and step it up in his (most likely) last world cup (2006)
owen could have had a beautiful goal had that defender not strangled him by the neck:kader:
gerrard doing the van basten turn:hump: :hump:

Agreed, if it weren't a friendly I'd say that "tackle" would've been a red.

Yeah thats was class.:jap:
Goalie233 19-08-2004, 02:50:AM 2-0. Michael "Air" Owen with a header on a Beckham cross.
Beckham has been fantastic today.
SWP on for Butt. He takes over on the right, Beckham moves to the center.
Shevchenko is off. Ukraine are done.
Spurs4Life 19-08-2004, 02:51:AM Beautiful play by Beckham to set up the second goal :rockman:
Beckham losing a stone in weight and getting fitter over the summer seems to have paid off.
Great to hear that Becks is playing better (Y)
Real Madrid Players 2 - 0 Ukraine :hump:
Goalie233 19-08-2004, 03:12:AM SWP with a fantastic solo run and finish. Started on his side of the halfline.
3-0
Defoe is jealous and lets a massive shot fly. Good save by the Ukraine keeper.
Rony you'll love this
SWP gol
3-0 England :D
rony31 19-08-2004, 03:15:AM AHAHAHAHAHAHA! ****in moron Eriksson, should've had him in EURO (H)
and since SWP came on and Sheva went off, LETS GO ENGLAND! :mrpimp:
Bummy_JaB 19-08-2004, 03:19:AM Yea man if england had some of this younger players that didnt make it for Euro they would have gone further.
davidcfs 19-08-2004, 03:19:AM SWP?
Mikey 19-08-2004, 03:22:AM shaun wright phillips
Spurs4Life 19-08-2004, 03:35:AM Great peformance by England. Beckham man of the match, looks fitter and stronger, should play well at Madrid this season. Owen looked sharp, Gerrard looked solid as did Butt, Lampard had a very quiet game. Defoe looked threatening at times and what a goal by Phillips :hump: , Ian Wright was jumping around in the stands (SWP dad).
Leeds4Life 19-08-2004, 03:36:AM YAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

thats absolutely wrong... they dont have experience, and big deal if they score against some crappy defenders from ukraine in a FRIENDLY
but i have to say it was a nice goal
Stotty 19-08-2004, 03:41:AM Played quiet well, shame dyer didn't get into it much, SWP goal was awesome (H) Defoe n johnson looked good too :mrpimp:
Eng4WorldCup 19-08-2004, 03:48:AM tbh, i thought johnsonn was the worst player on thepitch followed by a close carragher (frmo england) - dyer didnt look close to 100%

Dyer and carragher were invisible.
Johnson looked decent.
xxxFLYERxxx 19-08-2004, 04:11:AM If Ukraine could just play consistent football for 90 minutes they could be good. Today, it was only 25 minutes. Some nice combinations, but it wasnt enough.
I just want to see this country in a World Cup.
Bummy_JaB 19-08-2004, 04:12:AM So your telling me Defoe shouldnt have been in Euro over Heskey and Vassel???
Eng4WorldCup 19-08-2004, 04:32:AM vassell at the time was a great, quick forward, and he still is... you have to take heskey because hes the only big striker. maybe for the world cup defoe over vassell but certainly not over alan smith
Sir Calumn 19-08-2004, 04:35:AM Wright-Phillips is da sh!t (H)
rhizome17 19-08-2004, 04:35:AM SWP is god :|
Am I glad he signed for FOUR MORE YEARS :rockman:
Eng4WorldCup 19-08-2004, 04:36:AM haha did anyone see them show ian wright's reaction?? hahaha that was really funny
Amdy Faye 19-08-2004, 04:39:AM A lotta people sayin it's only Ukraine, but hey you can only play the team that's in front of you. You cant do no more than win at the end of the day.
At the end of the game the right side was good, but they were subs against tiring left sided players, what dya expect? But yea it wasnt bad.
Dyer will probs go 2 Spurs or sumit lol

Beckham has really impressed me.
He is definately Man of the match
He played very well defensively and offensively.
running a lot more, he looks much fitter.

SB9Dragon 19-08-2004, 10:53:AM Was an ok match, boring at times, ok at times. Nice goal by Shaun Wright-Phillips though.
BTW I know he is adopted, but does he have 2 fathers? Mr. Wright and Mr. Phillips?
jumbo 19-08-2004, 10:57:AM you mean two biological fathers? :\
