View Full Version : Scariest Movies
_BIGMAN_ 24-08-2004, 07:48:PM What do you think that the scariest movies you have ever seen are?
I think it's either exorcist, Nightmare on elm street or texas chainsaw massacre.
Stotty 24-08-2004, 07:53:PM The wicked witch in snow white and the seven dwarfs used to scare me when i was small :mrpimp:
Bonzi 24-08-2004, 08:50:PM yeah, "nighmare on elm street" was great...
Vagegast 25-08-2004, 06:30:AM The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and 1960's Psycho.
Jacky 29-08-2004, 07:25:AM The Ring is the scariest horror movie...... not the f**** american version. The ORIGINAL Japanese version!!

Blair Witch Project
Virgo 29-08-2004, 10:53:AM Alien 1 & 2
Evil Dead :mrpimp:
Hakeem 29-08-2004, 02:53:PM I've read some people (Tarantino, Sam Raimi) saying that Ju-On is the scariest movie ever. even better than Ringu
Parra Power 29-08-2004, 03:01:PM i cant help laughing in scary movies :( ruins the mood completely :(
fender 29-08-2004, 03:04:PM "It" :$ Haven't seen much horror movies.
Hakeem 29-08-2004, 03:07:PM IT is good. but it has some comedic moments which ruin the movie as whole I think. I mean, its still good, but it hurts the horror status of the movie
Gareth 29-08-2004, 05:58:PM When i was a little kid, it was Gremlins and ET.
Now... well, the first Alien still sends shivers up the old spine, but honestly the scariest movie to me...hmm, last one I remember was blair witch, don't know why though.
The Exorcist? I thought that was funny.
Callan 29-08-2004, 06:00:PM I don't care what anyone says the EXORCIST was the biggest dissapointment ever. IT WAS NOT THE GOD DAMN SCARIEST MOVIE EVER! It wasn't, watch it agian, what is so damn scary about it??? Tell me, please, I have seen it and I thought it was boring and long and just pathetic... I really hated it, really!
I haven't seen any good horror films ever, we had a 'horror' night at my friends house and the exorcist was the first film on the list... after that was meant to be 'the scariest film ever' we didn't watch any more because it was so sh!t house.
And who got scared watching Alien??
Shindig 29-08-2004, 06:03:PM Ringu or Blair Witch. I prefer my mind to be messed with.

I totally agree, I rented the DVD and when I was watching it, I actually stopped halfway through to check they hadn't given me the wrong disk. It was tame, even the infamous crucifix moment was nothing, and the storyline was pretty poor also. Same goes for Straw Dogs, it was billed as one of the most violent and shocking films ever made, but it was really tame compared to lots I've seen.
Scariest film I've ever seen was Donnie Brasko, to see such crap performances from three such great actors (Madson,Pacino,Depp) was very scary. I never really get scared by 'horror' films, I dont see how anyone can be scared of something thats not real and just on a screen, made up by a bunch of people. Having said that, Signs did make me jump alot.
Dan the monkey 29-08-2004, 06:47:PM I actually thought the exorcist was quite scary :$ The Ring (not the jap one havnt seen that) messes with your head and you think about it afterwards. Apparently the most sick movie is "I spit on your grave" its roughly about a girl that gets raped and killed then comes back to life (or something like that) and kills the men that raped her, i think she kills one by hanging them up by their balls and cutting them off :| I havnt seen that film and dont intend to.....

night 30-08-2004, 06:47:AM Anyone watched Child's play? (H)
Patch Adams? Anyway, when i've watched Alien 1 and 2 i was what, 10 or 11, so it was kinda scary. Today i dont get scared by any of those horror movies, sometimes they just make me laugh. To say the truth, sometimes i cheer for the villain (almost half of the times).
I was willing to see that dude from Scream tear Neve Campbell apart.:$
Hakeem 30-08-2004, 08:33:AM well yeah, when you get older you just dont get scared anymore :(
last year though, my favorite horror movie was Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I loved it.
the thing was, that I didnt get scare, but what I did feel was the tension, the movie kept me in my seat the whole time and couldnt breathe or keep my eyes out of the screen. (Y)(Y)(Y)
Callan 30-08-2004, 06:45:PM The Texas Chainsaw massacre was rather freaky at the end; quite disturbing when we actually see this supposed 'realy footage' of the guy...
The movie itself was not so bad, just a dude running around with a chainsaw and stuff... it was better than I thought it would be generally because I don't like horror films... but then again I probably haven't seen enough to make a fair judgement... but I have seen the mainly 'popular' ones...
Sir Calumn 30-08-2004, 07:02:PM I never saw Texas Chainsaw Massacre because I am a big fan of the original and the 'remake' looked so different I thought it would have butchered it, pardon the expression, but perhaps I should have.

Child's Play warps thousands of Children every year - I blame the Iraq war on it :p
Jacky 30-08-2004, 11:01:PM I haven't watch Juon (another japanese horror), but I hear it is quite scary....
"Hailed as the scariest Japanese movie of all time"
http://www.subwaycinema.com/frames/nyaff04-juon.htm
.......................
it depends on what u find scary, some people don't like the dark and they'll find a horror movie that takes place in the dark scary, some people find psychos scary and they'll hate these movies etc...
I find that japanese horror movies are much more indulging, u feel u are in the movie coz the director creates this suspensive sphere whereas hollywood horrors are 'usually' people chasing around and running wild, there are a few exceptions though. Maybe it's just that most horror movies out of hollywood aren't usually big budget ones and that is why we see the difference. Japanese horror are on par with the budgets of their other big movies.
I guess Hollywood horrors are made to be scary to the western people and japanese horror will be more scary to the asian people. It's probably a difference in culture that makes people think differently.
Hakeem 31-08-2004, 04:49:AM yep, as I said before, even George Romero thinks Ju-On is the scariest one ever (Y)

They were not great but they were better than I thought.
I wouldn't watch them again.
Sir Calumn 31-08-2004, 06:23:PM The original was not scary but it did have some horrific violence, and I love to see horrific violence in films. Not just because I'm a sadistic bastard, but becuase is defies convention, adds punch to the film, creates a great shock element, creates controversey and makes the real world seem better.
Duong 31-08-2004, 07:15:PM I watched Ringu so I think just think it's the scariest one
PhiLLer 31-08-2004, 08:25:PM Shaun Of The Dead :p
