adnan2850 28-08-2004, 04:16:AM [P+R] Manchester united vs Everton
I have a feeling ManU will win 3-2 with a double by smith and a goal by giggs. With manUs current defensive capabilities (ehem Quinten Fortune ehem... ) everton are bound to score at least one.
Bilo90 28-08-2004, 04:29:AM haha.. yah everton have to score... i just checked that this match is happening on monday.... 2-2... smith with one, scholes with one, and then rooney with two (i doubt it but i just have the feeling)

no way man rooney is injured rember
he broke a bone in his foot during the euro2004
nonetheless he is good and manU should buy him
Bilo90 28-08-2004, 06:34:AM oh yah!! how long is he injured for..
mufc_daddy 28-08-2004, 09:36:AM 3-1 to United.
We have to put on a show to prove Rooney where he belongs.

Not sure why we have 2 games in such a short time frame though.

i think is because of the CL qualifying second leg. so this match has been delayed.
i guess 3-1. smith, scholes, ronaldo and i have a feeling that gravesen or bent will score
reddebil99 28-08-2004, 11:26:AM Lol...it's ok Gooners, you still have a while to equal our honors in the Premiership.

The qualification game. However, we should have agreed on a date that Liverpool had also chosen for their make up game.

Man Utd v Everton
Kick-off 1200
As much as Everton are hard working and well organised by David Moyes, I don't think they have the quality to upset United at Old Trafford.
I cannot see where the goals will come from.
United are getting stronger.
You can see a point in the near future when their squad takes on a whole new dimension.
Louis Saha is closing in on fitness, Ruud van Nistelrooy isn't too far away, and Rio Ferdinand is near the end of his ban.
Gabriel Heinz will soon return from the Olympics and Wes Brown has started training again.
In a month or so there will be a real buzz about their squad.
Verdict: 2-0

houston3721 30-08-2004, 06:59:PM it is quite hard for United as Everton have like 11 players defending and 8 or 9 of them inside the box.
United hardly make any shots.
the actual formation is like this....
----------------------Howard-----------------------
--------------O'Shea-----Silvestre-------Spector
G. Neville---------------Fletcher-------------------
Kleberon-----------Scholes--------------Ronaldo
-------------------Smith--------Saha----------------
Kleberson always cross the ball on the right and Ronaldo does many cool stepovers and dribbles past defenders and cross on the left.

when our bad luck can be end??? :( :( :(
i think our main problems it having too much possesion but not create too much chances and turn them into goal. how long we didn't score a goal from set pieces??? look at how many corner and free kick we have
why ferguson sub kleberson? he did have a good game compare to saha. i thought he may sub saha with giggs, play scholes behind smith and kleberson play center, giggs on left while djemba replaced fletcher
kleberson did have a good game

xiaoarc 30-08-2004, 08:23:PM I somehow feel that Djemba is doing nothing on the pitch..
Drvar 30-08-2004, 08:28:PM Considering Silvestre commited 2 penalties (from what i read in this thread), you werent unlucky, if anything you were lucky :).
Manchester's biggest problem is injuries, and a weak midfield imho, they should strengthen their midfield with some new blood.
soccerbest 30-08-2004, 08:49:PM does hitting the post 3 times not unlucky then? like ****
It's not unlucky to hit the post. The shot should have been more accurate. A shot against the post is a shot off-target, it the same as all over shots which go over or wide, just closer.
Also, not getting a penalty has nothing to do with the player's ability, hitting the post does.
shrekiejai 30-08-2004, 08:52:PM Cant wait for Heinze to come in....can get rid of Silvestre!
As for our forward...its good enough, dont need rooney...just need more creative mids and more luck!

The first incident occurred after the foul on spector, so it didn't count. The second one was a bit iffy. Silvestre had his arm high on ferguson's shoulder, but ferguson went down easily.
reddebil99 30-08-2004, 09:32:PM I have no idea what Djemba Djemba is doing in our starting team. Everytime he gets the ball he looks all jittery and nervous. He rushes, and ****s up. He creates 2 good passes a whole game (that do not sum up into a goal) and thats it...
Payaah 30-08-2004, 09:37:PM His last 3 games he has been playing well, so no wonder he is in the team.
ogsimon 30-08-2004, 10:23:PM Manchester united need a play maker, to make those decisive passes from central midfield, rosicky or Valeron would have done, but it doesnt look likely now
VanTheMan 30-08-2004, 10:56:PM firstly,
in today's match we were very CLOSE to getting 3 points.
hitting the post 3 times.
then again against blackburn it was friedel's masterclass.
today,Kleberson played very well,
ronaldo also did.but he looked a bit out of match-fitness i don't know why.
it is silvestre that is causing us hiccups and near embarrassments.
he proved it today also.
i would say my rating on the new recruits the last 2 years:
*ronaldo 9/10-super signing for us.no comments
*kleberson 7/10-will help ALOT in wonderful crosses and passes - BEING INJURY FREE
*Howard-7/10looks very much to be the ot no.1 for years to come
*Djemba-Djemba-5/10 looks very unreliable.hesitating.is just good for physical presence
*Bellion- 3/10Never did and never will suit United's way.
*Saha-8/10 looks very good as a supporting striker and will score alot
*Smith-9/10 the guy is already an idol at United.he'll score alot of goals at united
*Miller-4/10 looks very nervous and not uotp the mark
*Heinze -never seen him play
so from the above basis it would be good to loan out Bellion ,Djemba and Miller if not sell them
and if anyone thinks that the players should be given time, well they have had enough time.and a series of sessions involving 30-40 min appearences can also judge the player's ability
enigma 30-08-2004, 11:14:PM Heh that sounded absolutely bias if you ask me.

I agree with you.
Bellion is far better than 3/10. He didn't get many chances to play at United and when he did, he either scored or created some good opportunities. Like today, when he came on for 10 min, he already got almost 3 assists, but thanks to the post, Martyn and a miss, those passes didn't count. If Bellion is 3, than Forlan must be 0.5. As for Liam Miller, i don't even nderstand how you can judge him already? He is very very young still and played in like 2-3 games for United so far.
Smith is an idol not to everyone at Old Trafford, i do want him to do really well, but an idol is Ruud and nobody else for me at least. As for 9, maybe a bit too high.
And how is Dx2 unreliable? in the games he played this season, he looked very reliable, always crossing and crossing that ball and almost never losing it. Plus Unitd didn't buy him to be a playmaker, United got him to substitute Keane and for me he could be not a bad successor to Keane.

:nape: Miller has played 3 or 4 matches. Djemba Djemba came from the french league, and you expect him to be as good as the likes of Vieira? He hasn't settled in. Bellion is 21, very young, he has to adjust and gain more experience. You have no clue about any of these players. Sell them already? You must be kidding me.

1. bellion is more than that. he just no time to prove himself. and for me he is lack of experience
2. saha just look like an unfit striker today. i think he still can't partner well with smith yet.
3. smith shold have a little work on his heading. plenty of ball crossing in, he can direct any 1 of them.
4. miller is another bellion. lack of chance to have first team football. SAF play him at right but he should play center

Man United`s challenge is over now.
HAHAHAHAHAHA people are writing us off after 4 games! Sure our start hasn't been great but look at the disrupted start to the season we've had. The team we fielded in the first three games barely looked anything like our first-choice lineup. It's only against Everton that the midfield has started to look more familiar. Ruud van Nistelrooy is still a few weeks away, and while Saha has done well in his one-and-a-half matches, he's still some way away from match sharpness. The performance against Everton wasn't bad, and I still say that someone is in for a hiding sooner or later if we get a little bit of luck with finishing.
Arsenal and Chelsea have made great starts to the season, and have looked very good, but who's to say when it falls apart? Every team has a blip at some stage in the season. Remember Arsenal seemed to be running away with the title in 2002/03 and we came back from our worst start since 92/93 to win the title. Similarly we were top of the table at Christmas time last year and still surrendered the title. Some people are forgetting there are still 34 games to go in this season.

Anyways Bellion has had plenty of time to fit in. Firstly I belive he came from Sunderland, an English club, secondly if you don't fit in within 2 years, you don't fit in at all.
With respect to all the Opinions of Man utd fans in this forum...
I think in order for the red devils to get back in the race with the Arse's and Chelski
some of the following has to happen:
1- we need to get a full squad again as on paper our squad is deeper than Arsenal's as i think an injury to Henry or Reyes would
really hurt them.. we need the likes of Rio, Ruud back as soon as possible.......
2- players who are Forlan's shouldn't be given too many chances on the expense of results... in my opinion
Fletcher isn't special at all,Djemba Djemba is the typical stupid african player with all his passion
but no good passing and zero brains yet strangely no physical or aerial ability.. then u have Bellion who may be a decent player in 3 years (probably not) but not
now at all... A man utd player who scuffs a cross without being challenged?...a center back who every game makes a mistake and risks conceding a penalty?...a goalie who is a complete clown he saves the unsaveable and concedes the easy ones? ...since when did we have that crap in our teams( we had the goalie mind you ;p)?
3- i'd argue that with the team we have.. in 2 yrs time we would be dominating again but the likes of Giggs,
Neville,Keane and scholes have to perform better...specially giggs who i think isn't as good as before...
4- no more supidity in the transfer market is allowed... we let butt go and keep Fletcher? ... every player of fergie's fledgelings (Becks,Butty,Scholesy...etc) had a good side of his game and a bad side....what is the good sied of Fletcher and what isn't bad? would someone tell me?
also the likes of veron and forlan were wrong moves too...
5- Sir Alex has to get it right tactically... Buy Rooney then play with Van the Horse by himself at home against crystal palace and drop smith and saha then put bellion
in on the second half?...... Sir Alex will have to attack and go for games because this is the only way we were ever great believe me and we have the talent....
I also think that the everton game was unlucky and its too early in the season anyways...
If rooney joins where would this leave Scholesy?... and are we still gonna play with 1 man up front where we have 4 world class strikers?
it shouldn't have got to this point we were dominating in the past..hopefully now we're united more and we'll be back soon
shez
Help? 31-08-2004, 10:04:AM Van the Horse? You sound like an Arsenal fan.
And you probably forgot that the only reason we were great is because we had 4 strikers in our team, right now we have 3, that's why we really need Rooney. Scholes was and will be a mid.
Howard the clown? Were we watching different games for the past year?
And Butt is like 30, Fletcher is like 22-23, HUGE difference. Plus you are forgeting that Sir Alex first of all wants Scotland to do as good as possible, that's why he tries to push Fletcher really hard. And to me Fletcher does look a bit like Scholes on the field, only he has to work on a shoot and a little more accurate crossing, otherwise he can even tackle! Which Scholes is horrible at.
Maybe you are right about Giggs, but at 31 still making those runs and still having the best cross in United team is better than what Figo is who barely runs. Giggs at his age can probably outsprint 75%-80% of the players in EPL.
Thelonious 31-08-2004, 12:08:PM i think a quality centre midfielder is needed more than rooney , we have failed to dominate the centre of midfield with kleberson whos too weak , and djemba djemba. Keane is old now and we need to buy someone who is in his class , not second rate players like djemba djemba. The defence should be ok when Brown and Ferdinand come back and replace the incompetent silvestre and oshea. Spector may be young but i think we should keep him at left back , my only criticism of him is his haircut , he wouldn't look out of place in a trailer park.
mnj2x 31-08-2004, 12:23:PM djemba is a defenisve midfield not a playermaker...and i thought he did very well in the games he started. tough player
