View Full Version : -Confirmed- Luis Fabiano to Porto

We've already been discussing this on the portuguese threads but I thought it was important enough to make a new thread.

And Sao Paulo's president confirmed instants ago to a portuguese radio that there was in fact an agreement with Porto for the transfer of Luis Fabiano. He didn't reveal the numbers but they are thought to be of 13 million €.

Luis Fabiano, 23 years old, has accepted the transfer and travelled to Portugal this saturday night and he has already made the medical exams.

He will sign tomorrow.

The Luis Fabiano soap opera seems to be over finally and Porto's team unfortunately for me is looking very impressive on paper this year.

And guess Roma missed out on their man...

He was third choice behind Gilardino and Zlatan, ive never been too impressed with anyways, and apparently Roma werent either, offered only $3M in a co-ownership deal.

Worst of luck at Porto(Y)

This is not his first time in Europe. He went to Rennes of France in 2000 because he showed alot of potential as an U21 player. But never really made an impact. I'm not too impressed by him either... he's a good player but nothing extraordinary. Besides, it took him like 4 years for him to make good at Sao Paolo.

I think if he gives it his all he can be really good. But unfortunately he shows alot of slacking off... that maybe the factor in his second stint in Europe.

Good question... hard to tell though. Now that Luis Fabiano is gone, the Venezuelan Rondon would come in but then again the Sao Paulo fans arent too happy with the Venezuelan... not because he lacks skills.. but because he's venezuelan. Of course that is ignorant of the fans but the fans are the fans, ultimately they are the ones the decide who plays and who doesnt. But I like Rondon, he's a good player... we'll just have to see how he does when he gets his chances on the field.

Damn it. I wanted crazy Fabi in the Serie A. DAMN IT. Oh well. My Porto friends should be ecstatic over this deal. Though I think Porto should have used all that Chelsea and Barca cash to get a top class defender, or atleast a good defender like Dellas.

Though knowing Porto they probably uncovered some new up and coming defensive superstar.

Mikey did you get expelled from Italy for being a jackass or something? Did you get raped by a portuguese when you were a little child? (Maybe you still are)

I go once or twice a year to Italy, my father speaks fluent italian and deals with italian people every day and we've never felt anything with a slight resemblence to the hate you show towards the portuguese.

I know he's getting old, he's not fast and is loosing his skills, but that doesn't make him a bad player at all. He's a true captain and he's an essencial player in Porto. If it wasn't that way, he'd be gone a long time ago!

for those that think we should have signed a defender, we have found a great young defender in PEPE. Believe me he's good.

When we sold Couto, ppl though we were screwed, then Jorge Costa cemented his place in the team, then we sold Andrade and once again we were screwed, or were we, no cuz it gave a chance for Carvalho to play, now we have Pepe, he ain't as good but has a lot of potential, plus we signed Thiago from Juventude(brasil) who is 19 and suposed to be very good.

It seems that the value of the transfer was 7.5 million € after all. Very cheap for his value, but S. Paulo wanted to cash on him as the player was unhappy and the transfer deadline was closing in.

No, that price is just about right. Luis Fabiano is a good player, but not a great player. He will do average for Porto i'm sure... but he will not get close to what Jardel did for Porto i'm sure. Sao Paulo were smart about selling him right away.. SP know what they're doing.

Very interesting, you get owned by Yossarian (as funny as that is in itself), he gets banned, and now you try to fill the void by attempting to take on his personality and post pathetically un-funny material.. never seen that before..

For the rest of you, take what Mikey says with a grain of salt. He's an Italian kid from Toronto and around here there's a lot of rivalry for bragging rights between Portuguese and Italians, it's nothing sinister. Mikey just needs to grow up and realize he's not on the playground anymore.

I could see why he would be mad, you know the porkchops never had their own little spot to party when they won anything (which is funny because they still havent) but they decide to use little italy as their place?
Lets face it Italians and Porkchops don't get along. It seems whatever italians do Porkchops do 10 years later. Awww are you mad at me because I said I don’t like the Portuguese? Get over it, the arrogance in Toronto shown by some of these Portuguese is shocking to say the least. I have kids trying to tell me Benfica can destroy Roma and when Italy was eliminated first round of Euro who where the first people to bash us? Bet your ass it was the Portuguese, its all in fun though. I do talk to Portuguese guys but I still insult them right to their face as they do the same to me.
I don’t truly care if you think I am some sort of arrogant asshole trying to be superior over the Portuguese because I am not. As a matter of fact the Portuguese I have seen posting on this forum are some of the better people I have seen. Just not the ones in Toronto.

I have every right to dislike what you wrote here and the terms that were used. This forum used to be a good place to discuss football but it seems to me that this is turning into an insult longue with ppl like you and Mikey leading up the gang. Why don´t you just discuss football? Why dont you brag about your almighty Bari, since you think Porto sucks so much. Discuss anything football related, except insulting ppl and generalizing everyone just because of their nacionality.

To be honest if you were to insult me as an Italian I would take it as a grain of salt (like I have been for the past 7 years), however do you once hear me saying Bari is an amazing team or Italians are superior to everyone else? No, I just dislike the Portuguese in Toronto because that is how they are. They infest little Italy the place I use to call home and they for some reason beyond me can’t go party it up somewhere else. In Toronto it is their personal goal to go after Italians, so please don’t except Italians to be sitting down and taking this ****.
But to stay on topic I really hopped Luis Fabino would have signed with Roma however we now have Mido and with Cassano and Totti working with him who knows what could happen.

to tell you the truth. Benfica can probably beat Roma. If you believe otherwise it's your opinion, just likes it's those ppl opinions that Benfica can beat Roma.

ps. have fun having Mido, Totti, and Cassano on the same team. What Egos, i'll love reading on how these three will fight for the whole season with each other.

Toronto is a multi cultural city, seems someone thinks they are living in Italy. If you don't like the portuguese go back to Italy, i have no prob with Italians so i'll stay in Toronto, or the area in which you call little italy.

Paulo, good point about the egos, but really, most great players have egos, and from wat ive heard Luis Fabiano has a really bad attitude. I was happy when Porto bought him for like $14M (cause i dont think hes worth that), but for $7.5, thats not a bad figure. I dont know enough about either Mido or Luis Fabiano, to say whos better and whos worse.

===========================

comparing me to Yossarian, thats an insult, that guy is 'out there'.

to Shinji, see he understands, its nothing really personal, Italians and Portuguese are a lot a like, were both very proud of our herritage, and share similar values. Well, Bari-Roma fan does seem to clearly dislike Portuguese, he mustve had worse experiences than me ;) . The best way i can explain it is like how True Milanistas and Interistas treat eachother, its a rivalry.

And again, dont compare me with Yossarian, or type my name and his in the same sentence. and he didnt "own" me, i cant remember wat it was even about, but i remember i had the last word, and he never even replied to it.

Paulo Da Silva
01-09-2004, 02:47:AM
your right mikey, portuguese and italian culture is similar, that's why there is a big rivalry between them, but not the way the Bari fan goes on about it.

what he feels isn't rivalry it's just pure HATE.

well, back to the topic. Mido has a big Ego that's what cost him to leave Ajax.

Luis Fabiano also has a big ego, but he's shown to start getting over it. Mido continued to be an asshole at Marseille.

well we will see at the end of the season, who's a bigger ass

Mikey
01-09-2004, 02:58:AM
I love Totti, but hes a bigger ass than both combined, and i dont think Mido will have the coglioni to try and be a big shot when Cassano and Totti are around.

Remember, Mido has never played on big club like roma.

Luis Fabiano was very adament in joining Roma, and looked forward to playing with Cassano and Totti.;)

I think id rather take Fabiano, but Mido cost a lot cheaper, so i think hes the better buy.

I wouldn't pay much attention to what Italians outside of Italy have to say. Having been to Italy many times I can say with 100% confidence that the Italians in Montreal, New York, Toronto etc...are nothing like the "real Italians". Hell, most italians in those aforementioned cities cannot fullfill the basic requirement of being Italian---->speaking the language (and knowing a few swear words don't count).

So when these Italians mock their Portuguese counterparts, its done from a jealous point of view. Why? Simple, most (if not all) Portuguesers outside of Portugal still go to Portugal regularly and speak the language fluently. Most are jealous that our household language is Portuguese and theirs is english (I pity their parents, how hard must it be to know that your children have sold out their own culture?)

Don´t interest if Mido can be better or worst than Luís Fabiano, because I think that the two have similar qualities.
But Luís Fabiano was completely cheaper, he only cost €1,9M for Porto.
And certainty that Mido costs very much money.

And now I can say finally that Porto has a great quality striker.

I could see why he would be mad, you know the porkchops never had their own little spot to party when they won anything (which is funny because they still havent) but they decide to use little italy as their place?
Lets face it Italians and Porkchops don't get along. It seems whatever italians do Porkchops do 10 years later. Beleive me when I say mikey is not the only "italian from toronto" who hates porkchops their is many of us. Hell I know germans, english and el salavadorians who hate porkchops. Porkchops just arnt liked, and I would be lieing to you if I said I liked them.

ha, you've got some frigin' nerve, I can name off a lot more groups of people who hate Italians in Toronto, beleive me I deal with all kinds in my line of work and most of them have the same pleasant things to say when it comes to dealing with Italians, so don't talk as if angels fly out of your ass or something  Your repeated use of the brilliant term "porkchops" also tells me you're probably like 12 years old or so (at least I hope you are, otherwise you deserve some pity) and shouldn't be taken seriously anyhow...

not many people tryst Roma anymore sadly.

btw-if you guys only own 25%, then could another club buy the other 75% of his licence and take him before the 5 years is over?

Funny...Aveirenses was banned when he said something like "its not like im calling your mother a hore", and this guy says this shiat and nobody does anything???

Thats miserable..What a good mod we have in here, isnt it Ice Blu? You're really fair in your decisions and dont take sides when the portuguese are in the middle of the deal...What a good example for the community you are...

I love Italy but that racism and prejudice is really bad, mainly when it is encouraged by a mod..

he may no longer play for inter, but have you ever heard of a guy called ronaldo?

Boy, did he won those titles in Inter? Nope, thats the point, get it? As a matter of fact he won titles in the club where he was before Inter and in the club he was after Inter..Do you see the picture?

About Fabiano..Well he's good, but maybe id prefer to keep Rossato instead of getting Luis Fabiano if i had to choose between both...Cos no matter how good players we sign if Valente keeps playing regularly porto will fail in decisive moments just like against Valencia....

What was the point of quoting this again? You already quoted this and I already responded. Holy crap, this is not me being racist... I am not saying portuguese should all die and burn in hell(I actually don't think anyone in general should). I am simply stating I disslike alot of them in Toronto.

We got your point davidcfs(Y) atleast i did...Some portuguese are a pain in the arse and have some inferiority complex towards italians in Toronto, I can understand why u want their clubs to lose, its pretty simple. Youre not the one who's being a pig in this thread mate. Those guys overreacted because of some retards who posted previously:rolleyes:

Ah thank you goo-goo boy. Its not all portuguese I hate because if you even bothered to read some of my other posts (shinji) then you would see I say most portuguese posting on this forum are the best ones I have talked too.

Look there isnt any problem about having an anti-porto badge, if he doesnt like the portistas he knows its understandable he doesnt like the club...He just doesnt have an anti Benfica and Sporting badge cos those clubs are too little nowadays in Europe to even be hated for their celebrations...Its as natural as Nuno Valente making miserable displays every game mate.

Beleive me if they hate Anit- Madrid and Anit- A.C Milan ones I would have them on right now. I just find the Porto ones to be quite funny. Though I must addmit Goo Goo Boy you are actually making me not diss-like Porto as much :)

giorgias karagounis is a man who has a trophy which jorge costa doesn't have, the european championship trophy.

ronaldo actually won the uefa cup with inter as well. i know it's hard to believe that inter actually won a trophy, and it's so hard to remember but he did. i see the picture, very clearly, in fact maybe too clearly.;)

I understand your point and I don't take any offense in that :)

The only people here that have offended me were the ones insulting my club just because they felt like (how about if I used an "anti-Italia" badge in my sig? Wouldn't they become pissed too? )
And I don't give a **** if one of them is a mod or whatever... there's no excuse for that kind of ranting...
You never insulted me or my club in this thread (saying Jorge Costa isn't the most skilled CB in the world is no lie at all ;):D:D ), so I couldn't take any offense out of your words!

I don´t think Jorge Costa is that bad. I mean he isn´t the most elegant player in the world that´s for sure but hey he has won multiple national championships and cups, a champions league and an Uefa cup and possibily an Intercontinental cup (at least i hope so). He played in 2 european championships and one world cup. It´s hard to name players who achieved all that. I actually think he is a decent player. Compared to Materazzi, Jorge Costa is a superstar.

Jorge Costa is very slow but he's always been a very solid defender. Hardly ever makes big mistakes.

And he's always a leader on the pitch. He's still a very important player for Porto

I personally don't care about all the moronic, retarded, xenophobic comments; also couldn't care less about the anti-badge sigs too (it's a joke, btw). Thos comments say more about who wrote them than who they're trying to attack.

All I care is for my team to win. And to win we need a good team, filled with quality players. We're successful club, we stole a great player cheap, so of course we're going to get some sh!t from others along the way. It's actually a good sign. ;)
And I can live with it.

Shoot away...

Sorry, Mikey may be annoying sometimes with the anti-portuguese stuff (although if you take off that he's kind of a nice guy), but the word Aveirenses and annoying mean the same thing.

Oh i had some good argues with him. Especially on a Kaka vs Cristiano Ronaldo thread. Kaka starting week in week out for Milan and he was still claiming C. Ronaldo was better (that was earlier in the last season, right after the Milan vs Inter derby were Kaka scored his first goal for Milan, whilst all that Ronaldo had was some minutes here and there...). Then he got pissed off and told me to jerk off to Kaka.:crazyboy:

Still, i dont miss him.(H)
