lbd2005 01-09-2004, 04:25:AM " Natural Goalscorer"
How would you describe it to someone??
One of my mates, does not understand what I am getting at.
claupastore 01-09-2004, 04:28:AM natural as in nature
goalscorer as in scoring goals
its its nature to score goals
its easy for him to score goals
now was that so hard?
IceBlu 01-09-2004, 04:29:AM Someone who always finds himself at the right place at the right time without having to try too hard.
A players instincts determine if he is a natural goal scorer or not.

I have heard pundits say Micheal Owen, isnt one. Yet he has scored bags of goals. Because he is so one dimensional.
They compared him to the old Robbie Fowler.
So your not entirely right are you.
next..
It means that the player can score goals and finish from a variety of situations without seeming to have the skill learned or memorized to do a certain thing....its easier to explain by examples than to define it......
when you look at Fowler and Shearer on their day you see them scoring goals and finding angles that other forwards wouldn't usually be able to do the same...
for example Henry in my opinion is a great player...but i'd put my money on Ruud Van Nistlerooy to finish a chance in the box because he has the talent of finishing.....
Davor Suker in my opinion was a great example of a natural goalscorer (his goal against holland in the 1998 world cup 3rd place game is an example)
Cristiano Ronaldo is a natural dribbler while Owen isn't ....
shez
lbd2005 01-09-2004, 04:43:AM Henry is more of a natural goalscorer than Ruud.
That is exactly my point.
Just because you score lots of goals, does not make you a natural goalscorer.
EugeneF 01-09-2004, 04:46:AM A natural goalscorer is someone who just scores goals by simply sticking their foot out.
The classic example of players that just seem to need to stick their foot out to score a goal:
Gerd Muller
Inzaghi
Ruud van Nistelrooy
lbd2005 01-09-2004, 04:47:AM No, taps in.. does not make you a natural goalscorer.
Like the man said before, it is an instinctive eye for goal.
Henry is a prime example of this.
henry#14 01-09-2004, 04:51:AM A natural goalscorer is someone who does nothing for 92 minutes, then pops up, scores the winning goal and changes the face of the game in 2 seconds. Ronaldo, Inzaghi, Trezeguet and Ruud are perfect examples of this. Unfortunately, Henry is not

I watched MOTD not long ago and they were having a discussion about Micheal Owen in comparison to the Robbie Fowler in his prime.
They said while you would prefer Micheal Owen because his excellent goal ratio, he is not a "Natural" Goalscorer like Robbie Fowler.
Alan hansen is the man.
Paulo Da Silva 01-09-2004, 04:53:AM natural goalscorer=JARDEL
the man would score goals with his ass(believe me he did once for Sporting) and whenever he headed the ball, he didn't even have to move his neck. great goalscorer, stupid person
IceBlu 01-09-2004, 04:55:AM you can add Elber to that list as well.
I said Henry isn't a natural goalscorer and Ruud is......
Andy Cole scored sooo many goals but he missed 3 times the number of goals... Vieri also isn't a natural goalscorer but Trezeguet (Euro 2000 final) is a good example.....
good discussion :)

That's what i was going to say...
If u want to describe a natural goal scorer to your friend... tell him to watch some videos of him at Porto Sporting and/or Galatasaray...
Probably the best in the world in that specific characteristic(that is the most important to a triker)

the only reason some people would take Owen is because of his pace (or what's left of it) I would also take Fowler at his best. the man was a freak
akeel 01-09-2004, 05:08:AM the best 'natural goalscorer' i can remember is gabriel batistuta. he could score goals from anywhere, whether they were headers, volleys, tap-ins, long range shots. he had the widest range that i could remember and so is the perfect example of someone who is a 'natural goalscorer'.
henry#14 01-09-2004, 05:11:AM i forgot about him. one of the underrated strikers of the 90's IMO
akeel 01-09-2004, 05:17:AM forget about him :kader: how illegal!
Vagegast 01-09-2004, 05:25:AM A natural goalscorer doesn't think about what to do with the ball, just puts it in the net.
