It seems no one here has heard about this new "reality show" launched by Berlusconi's media company. It's called "Campioni - Il sogno" (Champions - the dream).. 25 amateur soccer players (although some of team have had prior experience in the higher leagues) were selected this summer in italy and assigned to a team which is going to play in the "Eccellenza" league (one level below Serie D).

The usual mechanisms of reality show apply: you can "vote" your starting eleven and so on. You can see it for yourself
here (http://www.campioniilsogno.com) (in italian).

It's a bit funny seeing how all the other teams are sponsored by the grocery around the corner and their team is sponsored by Vodafone and Adidas :)

Hopefully they won't embarass themselves. The "winners" of the show (probably the people's favorite) will get to participate in pre-season training with Juventus, Milan or Inter.

What are your thoughts?

sounds very cool, i wish they could do that here in the PDL. Don't know how many people would watch it since soccer isn't as popular here, but you might get those people to watch who just like to watch reality shows even though they don't like soccer.

There's a similar thing in Denmark too. A sister channel to the national "TV2", called "TV2 Zulu", has a football program where they've assembled a squad full of nerds and the like, who have never played football, and are giving them 3 months of intense football training. After that, they'll play a friendly vs the national champions, FC Copenhagen. :(

The team's name is: FC Zulu (H)

Yea, it was called "Soccastars", which aired on RTP1 this spring. The "prizes" were a year's training with Sporting's D team (men) and a scholarship to a university in the US (women).
