You can read Slate's piece on it: http://slate.msn.com/id/2090018/

But they're just trying to piss of everybody all the time... they hate the good movies and love the **** movies. They gave this move and Kill Bill a sh*t review.

Thats why i usually disregard movie reviews.

For anyone that knows, movie critics gave **** reviews for the movie 'The Beach' and seriously i think thats probably one of the best movies i've ever seen. :mrpimp:

He was ok in Gangs of New York and the Basketball Diaries... imo anyway. I haven't actually seen him in any other movies...oh, except 'This Boys Life' - pretty sure thats it

I'm just sick of Hollywood remakes. Banging a few explosions in does not make it a better movie.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a cult classic. Classics should not be tampered with. I mean, look at the Italian Job. The original rocked me knackers off but the remake's just a complete farce.

Where's the originality gone?

John_Arne_Riise

There is not much originality in Hollywood these days, look at the Matrix, a lot of people i've talked to think thats the most original movie they've ever seen, while i believe a lot of the concepts were taken from the movie Dark City.

whats freaky about Texas Chainsaw Massacre is that its based on a true story...

everybody is saying that the original is way better. specially because its clasified as a classic. I havent seen it though :p

and this one was great. it was very tense from the moment Leatherface appears to the end.

too bad we didnt get to see Jessica Biel naked, I mean, the movie was rated R, naked people are allowed in R movies :hump: :hump: :hump:

rony31
19-10-2003, 12:15:AM
ya, I wanted Biel naked too :kader: but I saw her boobs fully through the wet t-shirt, so I'm satisfied :hump: (H)

they wouldn't let us get tickets for the movie because it was rated 18A, meaning you had to hav someone 18+ with you... so my friend bought all the tickets with his Interac card from some automatic ticket machine thing :p and we got one guy in with a child ticket :D lmao :rockman:

no it was inspired, they took heaps of dramatic license with it. the guy used a meat clever in real life. and i think the **** about him wearin other peoples skin is just made up, but there was something to do with skin

Actually, the movie is inspired by killer Ed Gein.

He actually did make suits out of human skin and ate the organs of his victims.

What he did not do was use a chainsaw - he just used a good old gun.

You could say this movie is an exaggerated version of the true story.... but the part about him wearing human skin and all those organs and flesh in the fridge are indeed true.

I saw this last week and I thought it was poo...the original sh*ts all over this...I don't even think this deserves a 18 rating :|. The only redeeming thing about this film is that Jessica Biel is in it :hump:.

Can someone tell me the story line?

Hakeem

"Bring it! Bring it now!" demands a grizzled old Texan in a wheelchair. And suddenly it appears, a humming chain saw in the hands of Leatherface (Andrew Bryniarski), a monster who knows how to carve up horny teenagers. In that moment, I thought The Texas Chainsaw Massacre might actually capture the spirit of the 1974 Tobe Hooper horror classic that cost two cents (actually $150,000) and grossed more than $100 million. No sex. No blood. Just nonstop tension generated by being at the mercy of a family of inbred cretins in some Texas backwater.
Three misbegotten Chainsaw follow-ups, trapping the likes of Viggo Mortensen and Renee Zellweger, have been made since then. The new one is an improvement, but just barely. Director Marcus Nispel, acclaimed for his ads and music videos, has a sharp eye and the good sense to hire Daniel Pearl, who shot the first Chainsaw. But all the bad-rehash mojo from Friday the 13th to The Blair Witch Project has infected Scott Kosar’s script. Hooper went for primitive, Nispel goes for slick. Hooper went easy on the gore, Nispel pours it on. What can the actors do? Well, R. Lee Ermey as a local sheriff not above copping a feel off a corpse is wonderfully repulsive. But Jessica Biel and Erica Leerhsen have clearly been hired for their lungs, be it to scream or fill a tank top. And the guys (Eric Balfour, Jonathan Tucker, Mike Vogel) are just fresh meat for Leatherface. Chainsaw is produced by Michael Bay (Bad Boys I and II), which explains its soullessness. But nothing explains the flaw in this bad boy: How can a movie scare you when you’ve seen it all before?

It was one of the freakiest movies I had seen in a while. Only thing I didn't like about it was it was way too short.

I was referring to the newer version. I only just saw it a couple of days ago. The visuals are tasty, I had to turn my head away at some of the scenes. There's even a nifty Blair Witch-esque scene at the end.
