View Full Version : PERFECT DARK :)
Schumacher 29-06-2000, 08:17:PM Ahhhhh, the joys of pre-ordering, meant Perfect Dark arrived on my doormat a day before general release, and my word the game is AWESOME. To all UK posters here - GET DOWN TO VIRGIN AT OPENING TIME TOMORROW! Cos if you don't you won't be able to find Perfect Dark for months... and it IS worth it!
Ive pre ordered mine from EB and will get it tomorrow. Is it the same as the US version or does it have improvements?
Where did you order it? I heard if you ordered from Gameplay you would have to wait 8 WEEKS!
Schumacher 29-06-2000, 10:18:PM !!! I ordered from Gameplay in April. It came today, so THAT'S WHAT I CALL SERVICE!!! Anyway, if you order it now, you'll most likely have to wait 8 weeks, Nintendo never send enough carts to us Brits http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif !
Everybody complains about the framerates, but I have to say they are no worse than Goldeneye (except in hi-res), the weapons are cool (try the far-sight rifle, x-rays thru walls!) and finally we have full voices instead of Goldeneye's text. Dynamic lighting too, everything is there and kicks ass! I think there were some minor bugs in the US version which were removed - oh and there are no borders! Enjoy http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
xizor 30-06-2000, 11:43:AM the ad looked good...
Drinky UKSN 30-06-2000, 10:57:PM Perfect Dark out? I wouldn't know, having rushed to the shops this morning to buy International Cricket Captain 2000 (out today), undoubtedly the game of this summer. If you like cricket, buy it. If you don't, buy it anyway and change your mind. It is truly the CM of cricket.
Schumacher 30-06-2000, 11:57:PM Drinky, did you read Gamespot's games of the millenium awards? They rated ICC 2 at 19 out of 100 top games ever! I'd say that Perfect Dark is game of the summer, don't know about ICC... Hell, it'll be criminally over looked, and I'll pick it up for a tenner in two months or so... BTW do you have Brian Lara Cricket? That game kicks ass!
PS Go England vs Windies!
Neutral 01-07-2000, 12:48:AM PD is a kickass game - its been out a while in North America. But for my money the game of the summer (well console anyway - and excluding any football games) has been Vagrant Story for the PSX - it's an amazing game with an incredible atmosphere. If u have a PSX and like RPG's you'll love VS. Chrono Chross is coming out in August - I can't wait for that one either!
chrishaz 01-07-2000, 01:11:AM i have a really old Brian Lara Cricket, which i got in 1995.
It came on 1-floppy disk, and was sooo coool, it involved the famous joystick waggleing technique pioneered by the amiga sport games of the early 1990s.
... ah it takes me back to the pre GCSE times of Nirvana, (and Oasis when they were better)...
I also got Rugby'95 which was the best sports game ever (i dont even like rugby that much) it looked like sensi soccer and had digitised speech (though u wouldn't know it)
anyway, i shall stop otherwise i might turn this forum into an early 1990s pc game appreciation forum...
oh do u remeber UFO Enemy Unknown (it was wicked, and very atmospheric),
modern games....pah they are rubbish (joke..but i do feel they have lost something..)

Voltaire 01-07-2000, 01:26:AM Since we're off the subject here, I'll be buying my first non-FIFA computer game tomorrow, "Diablo2" since I heard so many good things about it...
It was a bit frantic at the local Babbages, Electronic Botique's, etc, as in roughly a 2 hour span, some 200 copies of the game were sold...
Neutral 01-07-2000, 02:24:AM Did u ever get to play the first Diablo? If so, what did u think of it?
Voltaire 01-07-2000, 03:35:AM I played it at a friend's house, and really loved the internet part.
It is especially enjoyable hacking other players, and taking their money =)
Fotbalguy 01-07-2000, 06:12:AM Hey Neutral. I can;t wait for Chrono Chross either. Hey did u ever play Chrono Trigger for SNES. It is truly the best RPG of all time. Oh yeah. Vagrant story is good but Legend of Dragoon is a lot better!
Emerson 01-07-2000, 07:05:AM hey voltaire, kommst du aus deutschland? falls du in deutschland wohnst, wo wohnst du dort? und, was fuer ein fan bist du?
Neutral 01-07-2000, 07:06:AM Fotbalguy,
Dragoon is better than VS? Wow, I'll have to pick that one up too!!
I have played the original Chrono Trigger - I agree, one of the best RPG's ever. However, IMO Xenogears nips CT by a hair as THE best console RPG. Have u played Xenogears?
Ruben Sosa 01-07-2000, 12:13:PM Have you guy's heard of Shining Force 1 & 2 for the Megadrive/Genesis? I loved those games, I found it so cool to go around fighting Darksol and almost after every battle you would get other adventurers who to join you. I must say It was the Best Megadrive/Genesis game I ever played...
Schumacher 01-07-2000, 01:28:PM Chrono Trigger, that was a great game, especially the music! Anybody know if Codies will be doing a followup to Brian Lara Cricket?
While we're on the subject of 16 bit games, I'd have to say my favourites were (all SNES) Mario Kart, Metroid, and Chrono Trigger.
Drinky UKSN 01-07-2000, 05:30:PM I remember the 19/100 ranking for ICC2 - one of the few times its actually been fully recognised by critics. I have BLC on the PlayStation, but the PC version was badly coded for TNT chipsets and gave me slow frame rates in the demo, so didn't bother with it. I strongly recommend a visit to www.cricketgames.com which is a world-class site (download Internet Test Cricket - a shareware masterpiece), and check out my pre-SG cricket site, Indigo, at http://www.entiredata.demon.co.uk/indigo/
Fotbalguy 02-07-2000, 06:12:AM Neutral:
Yeah i played Xenogears. I loved that game. I just liked CT a little bit better. If you think that VS is good, then you have to try Legend of dragoon. It's awesome.
