Let´s see how they react to european competitions football. Most of the squad isn´t really that experienced. The key is to hold Hearts attack in the first 15/20 mins in order to get settled in the match and counter attack with reasonable efficiency. I say 1-1 too since De Vries isn´t playing according to Record.

it's hard to say how this will turn out, in European competitions these smaller Portuguese teams tend to be tough at home with their home support, but in away games is usually where they lose the round..

Braga is playing well lately though, for those of you who don't know they held FC Porto to a 1-1 draw last week in a game where they played well enough to win.

Ofcourse, Hearts has McKenna!!! :rockman:

I'm not confident at all, to be fair these lads can clearly play...

However, we have Niel MacFarlane, attacking God. (H)

Anyway, MONRAHERTZ!!! INTAE THIS PORTUGEEZER PISH!!

Mon Hearts, but they've got a bit of a striker problem with Weir and Pereria both injured. You think it would be De Vreis and McKenna, but Levein wants to play ALAN MAYBURY up front. WTF?!?

Gavin, I've heard the comments from Braga's players and coaching staff - and remember that I'm portuguese, so there's no dodgy translation - and they all sounded pretty respectful. All they said was that Braga's game lies more on technique and Hearts is more physical, which is true. Maybe the bastards are on some british press, who always twist comments to raise the morale of the home boys.

About the game, I'm a bit divided on this one: I'm portuguese, so I'll obviously support Braga, but I'm also a Hearts aficionado. Lets put it this way: may the best team win.

For this leg, my prediction is either a 2-1 or 1-0 win for Hearts.

AND DON'T YOU DARE TO NOT COME HERE FOR THE SECOND LEG, min. :f***:

it's 2 - 1 now.

If Hearts can't make it 3 - 1 they'll probably struggle in Braga

Voltaic Borusse

2-1 Hearts

[51'] Webster
[62'] Hartley
[63'] Paulo Sérgio

Just back lads.

Superb result, I'm praying we can hold onto this so badly! :$:$:$

And for the record, Portuguese players = well, I better not say, I'll have all of you boys on my arse, and I can't be bothered.

This sets me up nicely for my holiday though! (H)

::shinji::
17-09-2004, 04:16:AM
hehe, yeah, yeah, we know they're diving bastards! (H) (keep in mind there are quite a few Brazilians on the Braga roster..)

It's a very good result for Hearts, the only thing that doesn't guarentee passage is that away goal Braga scored. I think that'll make for an exiting second leg...damn Denis, you gotta scrape up the cash and make it there!

btw, you get any photos?

I'll have plenty up shortly when the Jambo Paparrazzi come online. (H)

Oh, there was a grand total of 25 Braga fans. And even then there were a couple of my friends who are Benfiquistas who went! :D

Oh, and Kevin McKenna is out with tendonitis, he'll be out for around a month I reckon... :$

Well done. I have many doubts that Braga can overturn this score at home. They need an early goal to get a life line in this tie or else it will be too hard. And besides with that Braga defence, i have doubts that they can handle Hearts counter attack.
On another note i can´t believe Rangers lost to Maritimo, they just had their coach sacked two weeks ago

Jambo Den... U coming to Braga in the second hand?

::shinji::
17-09-2004, 04:21:AM
I didn't think Braga even had fans outside of the city of Braga, certainly not any willing to make a trip on their behalf :D

I'm trying to. I really am. But it doesn't look good. :(

I've been to Europe a few times with Hearts... I so badly want to go. :(:(:(

What was the attendence?

Jambo Den

The club are saying around 19k, but I reckon it was just over 20k... was in that area anyway. Was a decent atmosphere unbelievably - it was nowhere close to what Tynie is on a Euro night, but not many grounds are I guess. Hopefully it will really pick up once a singing section is established there, hoping that we get through this round, which is no foregone conclusion.

Can I just say, I thought the Bulgarian ref had an excellent game tonight - wasn't fooled by any of the play-acting, especially by Braga's keeper. Step forward Anton Genov. (H)(Y)

Great win for Hearts, and apparently well deserved too. I haven't seen any footage from the game, so I can't comment. And so they dived, did they? What can I say other than I'm shocked. :D

However, 3-1 is a tricky result, which can be easily overturned. Hearts will have to be careful when they come here while at the same they must sound dangerous to Braga's midfield. If they can do that I can definitely see Braga going through a tough time at home.

And min, just steal your dad's wallet or something. :jambo:

Our first and third were not exactly pretty goals though, very ugly... but our 2nd was a lovely wee effort. (H)

Hugo, if only it was that simple... I'm off tae Tenerife in like 4 hours. :$:$:$

Either way, I'll be going to the match with my friend from Braga, and possibly will take my camera with me. ;)
