View Full Version : How to stop skying headers?
Ebonix 22-09-2004, 02:32:PM Playing WE8 last night, I had a few crossed chances and I'm begining to notice a pattern, if you don't get a free header, the attempt will go sailing over the opposition's bar, I've scored a few headers but only a few and some of those were free headers. So my question is, is there anyway to stop headers ending up in the crowd and start making them hit the back of the net

If u get the timing right...like in real life...
Yup. Timing. You can't tap the button like the old WE series.
Ebonix 23-09-2004, 03:09:AM So should I wait till the last second, press it early or somewhere in between :)
Stotty 23-09-2004, 03:33:AM Liam sucks at this heading shi-ite (H)
MasterM 23-09-2004, 04:12:AM the headers in we7i suck also especially playing in 5*
All the headers in midfield seem to be won by the cpu, and if you win a header one time it always end up in the feet of the cpu.
The same goes for crosses. I once had a change where my forward was free in the box and he could easily head it in, but the cpu decided to cheat so he only shaved the ball with his head. This happens just too often:kader:

Thanks for the info (Y)
Now can anyone help me with WE8?
Well I can only say not too press the button too early or too late.
Bummy_JaB 23-09-2004, 08:42:AM It's all in the cross for WE8. What you have to do is DOUPLE TAP 0 so that the cross is more powerful and lower. I have scored so many headers using this method.
Of course you have to loose your mark first in order for it to be a nice cross. I hope you know have the same success I did.:rockman:
Yup double cross is more powerful. It's more within the waist to head height. But if you want to corss the ball to the far post you can press 0 or L1+0.
Gotta use R2 to manually adjust the positioning of your receiving player. Press the square button only just a bit before the ball make contact, and also try to point the headed ball using the d-pad. PS : the crosses must be good too . . .
When u use the double tap cross, you can position ur player to have him execute a volley or get into a better heading position.
*Sometimes if you press the [] button abit too early, u might get the player jumping and making a slight contact with the ball but it will go in although it's weak. But the referee is not easily deceived though*
Ebonix 23-09-2004, 05:15:PM Thanks allot guys, nice advice. I might just have to wait a while for my ML team to be stronger, so far I've only got Gattuso, Mostivoi and Cisse. I've found Strikers need to get closer, cause I flash a double tap cross through the end of the 6 yard box so that the keeper doesn't come for it. Thanks again
One other thing, don`t use Koller as your target man. He might be tall and have all that kind of ****s to win air battles, but he is suck at positioning, pace and accuracy . . . :kader:
Use some 6` guy with great body balance, that would make scorin` from air easier.

Yeah, he was rubbish on past games as well. Would never win a header, even against players who were under 6ft. I had a succesful era with Martin Palermo but I can't find him on this game

He is unlockable via the WE Shop if I`m not mistaken . . .
BTW, do you play using two forwards or one lone striker with two wing forwards ? I find it more attacking and much more offensive using the 4-5-1 formation a la Real Madrid. I put the left footed WF on the right and a right footed one on the left, they will dribble diagonally to cut inside. The two wing backs goes back and forth, and if the WF`s can`t penetrate I like using lob through balls to the overlappin` wing backs. This will give more chances to send crosses.
Ebonix 25-09-2004, 02:25:AM I'm thinking either 3-5-2 with Wing Backs or like I played in WE7 3-4-3 with to wingers either side and one lone striker, it worked a treat. Palermo scored about 36 goals one season in the League alone
3-5-2 is a good formation. (I use in my current master league game)
I play 2 SM, 1 CM and 2 OM....for midfield
Ebonix 26-09-2004, 03:37:AM I'm thinking of playing it as 2 DMC's (Gattuso & Lampard) 2 SM (dunno who yet) 1 OMC Kaka
I haven't been able to find Palermo in the "players for sale" part of the WE shop. (Brought every Argentinian) He must be at a club
Stotty 26-09-2004, 04:14:AM i play
