COS I DON'T!

He's pathetic!

I mean when he commented about the tottenham game just sums it up for me. 'It was frustrating because there was only one team playing to win and the other played not to concede goals,' said Mourinho

'They didn't play football, just defend, defend, defend. We played fantastic moments of attacking football and the result is not fair for the football we played

WTF! Thats the whole idea NOT TO CONCEDE GOALS!! He really is pathetic

Is it just me or wot?

Nah, of course it's not you. We all here prefer coaches who aren't pathetic at all and struggle to win games. But in my opinion Mourinho reached the pinnacle of patheticism after winning the UEFA Cup and Champions League on consecutive years with a team from a second rate league and now Chelsea having the best start of the season we can remember...

And about the spurs match, he was kind of right about that game. Spurs just put everyone in defense, rather than just playing defensively like Chelsea.

Now Jaque Santini, there's someone I don't really like....

Yeah, he is an arrogant twat and a hypocrite. When he was in charge of Porto and played Champions League games against the "big" sides of Europe, he opted for a strategy of defending solidly, then hit the opposing team on the break and try and nick a few goals. That's what you have to do when the players you have aren't as good as what the opposing team have. What did he expect?, for Spurs to be the attacking team away from home against the second best team in the EPL?, no. He has a short memory, we wasn't defending the whole 90 minutes, around about 75 minutes into the game we came under heavy pressure, THEN played for the point. We actually had the best chance of the game and before then played some nice football. Any other manager would have credited our defensive performance, but not the arrogant d!ckhead Mourinho.

He is an arrogant, egotistical twat, but he is good at what he does (and boy don't he let us know in his interviews), but if he really is such a great manager, a "special human being", why don't he take charge of a team, say...Blackburn, then with the funds and players he has, go to places like Old Trafford and Highbury and attack like crazy and dominate possesion and chances and not conceed one goal in the process. Of course he wouldn't do that, that would be suicide, he would blatently adopt the strategy Spurs used last week. My rant is over :p

I don't mind arrogance, Brian Clough was an arrogant manager, but he didn't disrespect a weaker team that defended out of their skins, that I'm sure of.

In the week when Brian Clough died I have to ask this about Mourinho.

What's up with being arrogant?

Brian Clough joked when he was awarded and MBE that it stood for Ole' Big 'Ead. But this week everyone has been banging on about about how great Cloughie was, AND HE WAS GREAT.

Mourinho has won the UEFA Cup(I was at that match) and then followed it with the biggest prize of all so if he says he's a top manager and sum1 disagrees he can turn round and say"Check out my record".

With time people will understand that every little sentence he says to the press has a meaning. People just call him arrogant and hypocrit beacuse they really don't follow closely his career. He does it on purpose, ladies... and he almost never fails his predictions. That's what coaches are for: winning. It's all about having a winning style. Give me a 41 years old coach that has won the same thing he has in 4 years of head coaching in a club like Porto (always an outsider in european competitions), without having his attitude, and I'll give you some credit then.
Believe me when I say that Mourinho will become a legend on every place he coaches.

And for those who can't understand what my sig says (it's in Portuguese), it goes something like this:

God on Heaven...
Mourinho on Earth...

That quite sums it all for me :rockman:

INFESTA
27-09-2004, 05:10:AM
I've said this throughout the past 2 seasons: Mourinho is a smart man, one who cleverly choses the words he feels his players need to hear. He's done that in Porto since day 1, when he said he would win the championship.
His speech might come across as arrogance or hypocrisy - and, mind you, sometimes HE IS arrogant and hypocrit - but he's only taking care of his team, shaping his players with a genuine win-it-all mentality.
The press is just another tool he uses to disrupt his opponents. He did that here and continues to do that in England. This is definitely a new approach, or at least one that isn't very common in football, unlike in some American sports.

I'm not trying to say he's a pioneer or a something out of this world, but the guy really knows what he's doing. Take it from me. ;)

Mourinho isn´t really a popular person. Not even in Portugal, alot of ppl dislike him. Like the supporters of Benfica and Sporting, Superdragões :crazyboy: (Organized Porto supporters) and some sour grapes managers like Octávio Machado (Ex Porto manager) who really, i mean REALLY hates him.
But when we analyze his career, that is a secondary issue, what matters is that he, regardless of his attitude, is a competent and very skilled manager. I really admire him, because he is one of the few portuguese managers, who was able to reach a top club, besides Carlos Queiroz (Real Madrid) and Artur Jorge (Paris St Germain). He has unlimited confidence in his capacities, which enables him to make those cocky/arrogant, failure is not an option speechs. Of course if things go wrong, everyone will "gently" remind him of what he said in the beggining of the season.

Punkt

I'm impressed by Jose Mourinho and I do like him. This is a man who knows his stuff, sticks to it and does not care what other people think. He is intelligent, is not afraid to face the press and knows how to be in control of his team filled with high profile players.

Yes he's grinding 1-0 wins, but so far it's working. His track record speaks for itself.

Though Jose Mourinho might play "boring " football, his coaching style is a breath of fresh air in the football world.

Mourinho branded a moaner

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been accused of using the excuses he made in Portugal when his team fails to win.
Mourinho's predecessor at Porto, Octavio Machado, said Mourinho blamed everyone but himself for bad results.

Machado told the Daily Star: "When his team do not win he always blames referees and opponents, saying their behaviour is too defensive.

"How many times did he use this tactic in Portugal? It is rare he considers he is the man responsible."

Machado's accusation comes in the wake of Mourinho's blast at Tottenham - after they gained a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge with a solid defensive display on Sunday.

Mourinho accused Spurs of negative tactics and time-wasting through play-acting and substitutions.

Porto boss Machado is dismissive of Mourinho's outbursts

Machado added: "Mourinho knows very well how to use the press.

"By using the press he puts a lot of pressure on the referees and the opponents.

"He always had problems with players and football agents and shows no respect to other coaches."

Chelsea were held to a goalless draw at Aston Villa in their previous Premiership match and Machado stated: "Nobody in Portugal was expecting he could lose points in two games in a row.

"I don't know what the English think of him but everyone realises he must do better at Chelsea."

Dont like him. Arrogant.

LMAO! You obviously don't know who Octavio Machado is. He's probably the worst coach ever in Porto history :D He completely destroied our team in a few months, left in March with the team in the 5th position and not playing anything at all. He's also known to be a huge asshole and I can't find a simple Porto fan that actually thinks he says something right. Octavio is the most jealous person about Mourinho on the face of earth. Like zuppafly put it, Octávio Machado is a joke. Nobody in portugal has respect for him, except perhaps the Maluquinho do Sistema n.º2. [Portuguese people know who I'm referring to.]

Octavio is totally right. If you have the amount of arrogance that Mourinho does, you got to back it up, not make pathetic hypocritical, after-match excuses. He showed no respect towards our manager and team and basically got mad over a tactic he used to win the Champions League with Porto. Arrogant idiot.

Bottom line is this, Chelsea had great chances to win the match, they could and should have won atleast 3-0, but didn't capatalise on the chances created. So whether we used the defensive, time wasting tactic or not, Chelsea still should have won, they have no one to blame but themselves.
