Lazio face another fine after racist taunts
ROME, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Lazio face another fine after their fans hurled racist abuse at visiting black players for the second time in a week.
Lazio supporters targeted Parma's Ousmane Dabo, Lilian Thuram and Saliou Lassissi at the Olympic stadium on Sunday, jeering them every time they touched the ball.
Venezia defender Bruno N'Gotty was also booed by Lazio fans throughout Thursday's Italian Cup semifinal in Rome.
An Italian Football League spokesman said Italy's sporting judge was expected to deal with the two cases at a hearing on Tuesday.
Lazio coach Sven Goran Eriksson hit out at those responsible for the abuse. ``It's not just boring, it's disgusting. If, in the year 2000, there are still people who think like that this world is all wrong.''
Lazio's Curve Nord, home to the club's hardcore ``ultra'' supporters, appears to have been infiltrated by right-wing extremists. Fascist symbols are frequently on display.
The unveiling of a portrait of Benito Mussolini and a banner paying tribute to Serbian warlord Arkan during Lazio's recent Serie A home game against Bari prompted a nationwide clampdown on offensive
banners and flags.
The presence of swastikas and fascist celtic crosses at Lazio games has led to the club being fined on numerous occasions this season.
Lazio sporting director Felice Pulici said the club had paid well over 100 million lire ($51,000) in fines this season, much more than in recent years.
He said the club were working with fans' groups in an attempt to educate the supporters and stamp out the racism.
Club president Sergio Cragnotti has made numerous appeals to supporters to stop the abuse which he says is damaging Lazio's reputation.
