View Full Version : Fifa 2005 Full Game Crashes To Desktop!!!
Larsen 09-10-2004, 10:01:PM Just bought the full game and everything works fine - untill the PC is loading the actual match I'm going to play. Then it just crashes back to the desktop... WHY!!!??? I have DX9 installed, new gfx drivers etc...
Specs:
P4 2,26 512 RAM GeForceTI4400 128 MB, XP Pro
Anyone who has any ideas?
leungtl 10-10-2004, 09:40:AM Try closing your Anti-Virus or Firewall programs (or as many background programs as you posibly can)
Larsen 10-10-2004, 07:22:PM ...I got it working now. Reinstalled XP...
syafiq_becks23 11-10-2004, 04:11:PM hey i got da same prob with this guy... mine win 98 ive got dx9.ob my config should be able to play the match... please help:rockman:
Humbucker 12-10-2004, 06:15:AM I'm having the same problem too :f***: I got the game this morning and have spent the majority of the day trying to sort this problem out, to no avail. I get to the screen where it is loading the match and then boom I am sent back to the desktop. My system meets all the requirements...my drivers are up to date as far as I know....I've freed up more space....and I've closed all the background stuff before playing. Reinstalling my OS(Win 98) as a couple of other people here on the forums have said they have done seems a little extreme.....besides I'm not very technically minded and have no idea how to do it without losing all the stuff on the hard drive etc.
I did the setup.exe thing, it checked my system then said it couldn't update my files because I needed to disable/close any virus software I have. Of course I don't even know if I have any such software let alone know what it's called. I'm very frustrated......I have a decent PC and have shelled out £30 on the game.....I think I'm entitled to expect to be able to play it without too much fuss. Does anybody have any suggestions? Here's some of my questions:-
1. Could it be a memory thing? I freed things up so I have around 1GB of space. Is this not enough?
2. If I HAVE to reinstall Win 98 how on earth do I do it safely without deleting stuff? How do I find these virus scan programs?(If I have em which I'm presuming I do)
3. Is there somewhere I can visit to download the SPECIFIC drivers that are guaranteed to work with the game?
I hope someone out there can give me some help here. Many thanks in advance. :)
Humbucker 13-10-2004, 12:48:AM Anybody?!!! There must be someone out there who can help....
Would be much appreciated.....
Humbucker 13-10-2004, 04:14:AM I've tried absoloutely everything I know how to. There are no newer drivers for my graphics card than the ones I already have...although in the list of supported graphics/video cards(in the readme thingy) mine isn't included.....still I think it should work shouldn't it? I've reinstalled the game, searched what seems like every technical forum on the web etc etc all to no avail. 2 days of this now.....I'm very frustrated to say the least. Any help would be very much appreciated.
yim87 13-10-2004, 08:13:PM **** this. happened to me too. i could play the demo. but this bitch just wouldn't start. i tried reformatted the com and stuff, updated all drivers, and tried with both SP1 and SP2 and without any SP. no avail. =/
bah! but any help is much much appreciated.
Humbucker 13-10-2004, 11:34:PM I've found out what my problem is.......my graphic card isn't good enough to run the graphics in the game :f***: which means to play it I'm gonna have to fork out for a new one. My current one(Rage Fury Pro 2000 or something) is only 32MB which is what the specs of the game says you need but I have been advised to get at least 64MB. I'm probably gonna go for one in the 'supported video cards' list. I wasted a LOT of time trying to fix things myself and am pretty frustrated but oh well at least I know now.......
jabbathehut 14-10-2004, 02:31:AM i also had the same problem for some bizzare reason if i put my desktop to 1280 res it works even though game runs in 640.worth a try
yamomma 28-12-2004, 08:09:PM Jabbathehut, I have tried all sorts of resolutions, to no avail.
Anyone else solved the problem?
Seems alot of people get this particular error, all with different specs:
Start any kind of match and the match loading screen comes up. After a few seconds, fifa 2005 crashes to desktop.
Personally, I think I have done everything in my might to get it to run, short of buying a new graphics card.
All drivers are the latest, from BIOS on up.
My graphics card passes all test in dxdiag.
Have killed as many background processes as possible.
Have tried to set system resolution from 800x600 all the way up to 1920x1440 and then run the game.
Have tried to use all the different available game resolution modes. It seems 32bit is off in all modes, except 640x480 (!?!?!)
Game runs perfectly until I start to actually play a match.
What are the major changes to graphics engine in 2005 compared to 2003? FIFA 2003 runs like a dream on my machine....
Please help!!!

B1u3s0n1c 28-12-2004, 08:15:PM tell you guys what...i have exactly the same problem and upon asking someone in the other forum i figured it was my video card
check to see if your video card is 32mb
if it is 16mb(like me)...then it wont work
try getting a new one or a new com
yamomma 28-12-2004, 09:04:PM I got a 128 MB card...
- what forum was that? No hot answers in here so far (please, don't take offence) ;)
OOooh! Any of you using a CD patch? (Please don't hi-jack the thread with piracy this-and-thats. we are trouble shooting here, not discussing the legality of a patch, please.)
B1u3s0n1c 29-12-2004, 03:57:PM ...
im not talking about ram
it's rather impossible to get a 128mb video card
the best is probably 64 so i think that's your problem

So youre saying that I DONT have 128MB RAM on my graphics card?
And that 64 should be better than 128? You know what? I think I'll just go back to using my Amiga with 512kb RAM and a 12.5Mhz processor
crazyrussin 30-12-2004, 10:27:AM Got the same problem.
My video card is radeon 9500. Everyhting is up to date. Tried reinstalling windows no luck. The problem is in the game I guess, so I switched to PES4.
Try lowering resolution in setup of the game to very very low, might work.
yamomma 30-12-2004, 12:34:PM Tried that :(
Think Im gonna download PES4 demo and see if itll run, reviews are amazing for it.
