I've just read that Figo is likely to go to Man Utd. next season as he has expressed that's his preferred destination for next year. Has anyone heard any similar news?

General consensus is that its far too cheap a price-tag, and United have no need to sign another midfielder unless they wish to demote either Figo or one from Keane, Beckham, Giggs and Scholes to the bench.

8 million pounds for Figo??????
Surely that won't even buy his right leg!
I mean if Oliver Dacourt is 7-8 million, I'd put Figo in the 15+ million range easily (maybe even closer to 20 million).....
I hope United don't get him because they'd be just frightening with Figo on their team, but like Drinky said it'd mean the demotion of one of their midfielders.

Barcelona winger Luis Figo is reported to be interested in a move to Manchester United.
Reports suggest that United will be offered the chance to buy the Portuguese international next week for £8million after the player identified Old Trafford as his preferred destination for next season.
Figo recently extended his contract at the Nou Camp until 2004 but it is believed that a special get-out clause will allow any possible deal to take place.
The 27-year-old winger reportedly earns a massive £55,000 a week with the Catalan giants, which may be a major stumbling block to any transfer despite United’s improved pay structure.
The signing of Figo would allow manager Sir Alex Ferguson to give David Beckham a more central role in midfield, while retaining the quality of service on the flanks now expected by the Old Trafford support.

Figo ... leave Barca??? Why??? They would pay him a lot more than ManU and now with VanGaal gone he can fevert to his natural position of RM. And please ..... 8M Pounds??? For Figo??? He is worth more than Rivaldo to Barca. ManU would have to pay at least 20 million.

I hope Man Utd. get Figo, they would win the Treble for sure!!!

I heard AC Milan wanted him and were willing to pay 9.6 million contos (portuguese money) for him.
