I've been trying all night to play online but everytime I try to play a matchup, the "Connection Lost" message appears just before the game is supposed to start.

I have the patch installed and have not alterted any other files because I know that was a problem with previous versions. I opened all the necessary ports on my router too.

I WAS able to play online the first day I picked up FIFA a couple of days ago though. Anyone else have the same problem now?

Your not alone with this problem, i and many others have the same problem with losing connection after installing the patch. I bought the game the same day the patch was released, managed to play 1 game then had to install the update, then it didn't work.:(

It's a patch which you have to automatically download if you want to play online

I had a similar problem... If you modified your config.ini to add refs and linesmen then you need to delete them in order to play online. I hope EA will come out with a patch for this SOON!

Hey, I forgot about that! So I did modify the file(s) then. Geez, I can't believe something like that would cause the problem but it's EA afterall.

Thanks mrj7ake, Ill try using the original config file and see what happens. :)

Did that work for you Steady teddy. I didn't add that file in the first place

Yes that appeared to be the problem. I just finished getting my ass whipped online by some hotshot in the U.K., through some really unplayable lag time. :f***:

You never modified the file? Maybe everyone you tried to play online altered their file(s) someway, you think? Not sure what else it could be. Funny thing is, the refs are in the online game.

Have you tried playing against someone who you know has an unmodified game?

Did you add the Ref file in the first place. If you did then i would suggest uninstalling the game and delete any Fifa2005 directories on your hard drive then reinstalling, thats probably the easiest way to do it if your not that good with Pc's.

Nope, it's starting to crack me up now as so desperatly want to play online. I have emailed Ea about it and their reply was pathetic.

Email from EA: Hi,
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I have a similar issue earlier today with the Tiger Woods patch.
This was resolved by reinstalling the game and reapplying the patch.

What kind of connection do you have? You've opened up all the required ports? I have cable modem and if you want, we can try a direct IP matchup. I've never played that way before and I'm not sure how smooth the gameplay would be since you're in the U.K. but we can try just to see if you're able to play online against someone with the same files.

PM me if you want.
