So im in Sheffield City Centre with my mate this morning, i thought we had a lecture at 10 but infact it was 11 :( meaning we had an hour to kill.

We went round a few shops before finally entering GAME, we both looked at PES4 and typically blokish went "ah ts reght gud that int it" (bare in mind im from Yorkshire)

anyway, after saying this about a few games we came accross a stand that on the left was Football Manager 2005 with big pre-order labels on it, and on the right CM5 with big pre-order labels on it.

My mate quickly picked up CM5 and went, "cor, gonna be a reght game this mate, cant wait for it" - i was pretty amused, however:

I then picked up FM and turned it around showing him the "from the makers of the CM series" and also instructed him about it.

But much to my amazement: "No tom, ive read about it, its definatly the next one after CM0304, should be fantastic"

:kader: :kader: :kader:

I told him id beta tested for SI, yet still he refused to believe me :( :(

-

I worry for SI, has anyone else heard anything like this.

Well, here in Holland you can pre-order Cm5 at big shops, while when I ask them about Fm2005 they haven't heard of it.

I'm sure Eidos are doing everything they can to make people believe this - it's pretty much their only hope. I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

ARGH

Can't any of you explain it to anyone who plays CM, and actually tell them about sigames.com and stuff? Shame to hear a few people let their friends no nothing about the split :(

It's not so bad for SI if you realise that CM5 is going to suck, people are going to buy it, get disgusted and arent even going to look at the CM series again (if CM5 happens to be good, then it's another story but seriously, do you believe it's going to be a great game?). And Tom, no offence but looks like your friend in living in la-la land. The "From the makers of CM" is pretty obvious isnt it? Unless he didnt know that SI made the CM series before.

I most certainly won't fall for the bait-and-switch tactic that Eidos is using for CM5, mainly because I live Stateside and the only choice for me will be Football/Worldwide Soccer Manager. Even if I lived in England, Holland, or even Malaysia, I know that FM/WSM is from the same people [Sports Interactive] that developed CM before the SI/Eidos "divorce". Now, go out and tell your friends, "CM5 will be sh*t. Buy FM/WSM instead."

I was afraid of this from the minute it was announced. This is real abuse of a name.

I'm actually pretty cool with it, it means both should sell in rougly equal proportions so I can be safe in the knowledge that whichever I like better will continue to be made.

CM5 will be as good as FM though, I reckon. It will probably appeal to him more actually as I'm sure Eidos will do what they've always been trying to do and make it more mainstream and 'cool' which inexperienced CM players would like.

Lean

But for more Mainstream and 'cool' stuff, people already got TCM. With the "wonderful" Football Fusion aswell. In my view, if Eidos try such a thing, they'll be screwed up because EA will outsell them.

Plus lately, CM is not so hard to succeed anymore. I'm still using the same 2 tactics for almost 8 months and it still wasnt cracked (i rotate them, and i tweak them sometimes during games/before games, but still...).

Anyway, Eidos better come with something almost bug-free. The game being good or not.

As for TCM, I think everyone knows how inferior it is.

I completely disagree. Making an SMG is a very difficult thing and even games that have been around 10 years (FM) and 20 years (SAAP) aren't 'perfect'. Some are better than others though...

I would expect it to be somewhere in the range of the first English TCM, instead in CM style with none of the fancy graphics. The user interface for CM looks downright ugly from what I can gather in the screenshot. (FM's sort of does too - but its functional isn't it?) TCM's the prettiest interface of the bunch

It will come out - too much money at stake !!! Eidos doesn't want to look silly for losing the old CM developers but I feel that they are already looking silly.
