View Full Version : Champions League : FC Barcelona - AC Milan [P+R]
Ahh.. This game will see many Milan stars fresh after being rested accordingly the past week with almost the whole Milan team getting much needed rest.
Even so, Im not too confident of the result and Im predicting a 1-1 draw with Kaká and Giuly scoring.
Sheva should also be in the mood after he just recently became a father. That really inspired his game againts Sampdoria.
Anyways.. Milan call ups
GOALKEEPERS: Abbiati, Dida, Fiori.
DEFENDERS: Cafu, Coloccini, Kaladze, Maldini, Nesta, Pancaro, Simic.
MIDFIELDERS: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Gattuso, Kaka, Pirlo, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Serginho.
FORWARDS: Crespo, Shevchenko, Tomasson.
Inzaghi, Costacurta and Stam are the major absentees.

BARCELONA - Despite the smiles at the press conference, Ronaldinho had to admit that he would not go into the game against Milan fully fit: 'I picked up an injury against Espanyol in the Catalan Cup and still don't feel one hundred per cent fit, but tomorrow I will be here. Our aim is not to get revenge, but just three important points.'
The Brazilian reacted to the praise he has received from both Adriano Galliani and Carlo Ancelotti by saying: 'It's really beautiful to hear those uplifting words from both of them.'
haha! Ronaldinho trying to use tricks even out the field eh? :f***: (H)
AC Milan's latest probable line up:
--------------------Dida-------------------
Cafu-----Nesta---Maldini-----Kaladze
--------------------Pirlo-------------------
-------Gattuso-------------Ambrosini--
--------------Kaká-----Serginho-------
----------------Shevchenko------------
Havent seen us use this formation in a long, long time. I wish it was Rui Costa instead of Ambrosini though. Or Seedorf.

I have no idea dude :(
But I think this time its because Gattuso and Pirlo wouldnt be enuff to handle Ronaldmagicmaninho.
americangreg 02-11-2004, 09:08:PM I just read John Dahl Tomasson's statements on MD and Marca. He says that if you look at both teams player by player, Milan clearly comes out as the better team.
What do you guys think about this?
Personally I think Tomasson is a complete nobody to make this statement. He's a good player but in my opinion he hasn't got any right to judge players like Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o and others. I think Barça and Milan are pretty evenly matched. But I guess it's just pre-game psycho-warfare coming from Tomasson...
We'll see tonight
AC Milan on paper, is surely a better team than Barca.
Barca's strength lies only in attack. And its still arguable who's attack is better between the two sides.
In the other areas, Barca got nothing up againts Milan.
Atlas 02-11-2004, 09:19:PM well AC Milan defens hasn't been that good this seson and its attack only Shevchenko and Kaka stands out so I wouldn't say Milan has a better team than Barca
I said "on paper" ;)
Barca only have Eto'o and Larsson.. Then?
fender 02-11-2004, 09:25:PM I say its gonna be a closely fought draw.

Milan better than Milan?
Barca only have Eto'o and Larsson.. Then?
Omg, Ronaldinho maybe? How can you forget Ronaldinho.. Does the name Deco say something to you? Giuly? Puyol? Xavi?
Saying FCB is only impressive up front must be an understatement. It's not that Milan is more impressive imho...
I was talking about the strikers...
The other dude was saying only Sheva and Kaká stand out as the strikers..
Sheva > Eto'o + Larsson
Kaká = Ronaldmagicmaninho (H)
Seedorf > Giuly
Pirlo > Xavi
Milan defense >>>>>>>> Barca defense
And please take notice, this is all only on paper.
What they do on the field is another thing.

It's a matter of opinion, but...no way in hell Deco is better than Seedorf. About Pires, it's not diving god damnit. It's self preservation.(H)
Vedran-10 03-11-2004, 01:16:AM I don't care about the result, as long as we get the three pts.
I doubt we will lose.We are too strong at home and Milan weren't very impressive at San Siro.
Go Barca!

shokz 03-11-2004, 01:53:AM I've seen better defending from a defence featuring an unfit Wes Brown and clumsy Mikael Silvestre at the heart of it.

Two lovely goals.(Y)
Voltaic Borusse 03-11-2004, 02:14:AM Nice goal by Eto'o.
Master Kush 03-11-2004, 02:22:AM Xavi...MoM so far..simply been amazing.
What a beautiful pass for that eto'o goal...
God damnit, playing Maldini in the defence with the likes of Eto'o, Giuly and Ronaldinho is suicide. Where the hell is Stam? Injured again?
Poor Maldini cant match the pace of Eto'o. If you watched the goal closely, you could see Maldini wasnt able to prevent the ball from reaching Eto'o nor preventing him from scoring. He just watched it.
Take off Ambro, bring on Seedorf because we're making a lot of wrong passes and if we keep playing this way, we're going to get killed out there. I cant remember us getting past the midfield in the last 15-20 minutes.
0le_Spain 03-11-2004, 02:24:AM 1-1 HT i'm happy with our performance though i feel we shoulda scored at least one more goal but Milan's team defense is tough as f*ck to break down. Oleguer messed up on the goal he was caught a little bit forward and Sheva gained his back really well and Sheva gone down Oleguer woulda gotten red carded for sure. We're totally controlling the ball but like i said Milan put alot of pressure in their own half and they dont leave many spaces open and they're playing the counter attack(in a few words italian football). Good match so far.
dannyeli 03-11-2004, 02:26:AM ambro and kaladze have been horrible IMO.
$teauA 03-11-2004, 02:33:AM I still can't believe that ESPN 2 is showing this game, now would it hurt so bad if they showed these type of games every matchday instead of Real Madrid all the time, I don't think so...
Just some thoughts on the game:
-Eto made Maldini look twice as old as he is.
-Deco needs new boots, his shooting was horrible.
-Barca's defense seems to be asleep most of the time.
-Milan's counter attack will score again in this match and they will win 2-1.

shokz 03-11-2004, 03:23:AM Why don't FIFA scrap that lame yellow card for taking yer shirt off? you can tell Meiers didn't want to book him but he had to.

buba3d 03-11-2004, 03:25:AM Why do they book players for taking off shirts?
so if thats the case, why don't they book them for swaping shirts off at the end of games ?
peruytu 03-11-2004, 03:25:AM I say it over and over again, I dont know what I love best, watching Barca win or Real Mierda lose... but watching Barca win in this manner defiantely tops it all, especially when its against another team that I hate most, Milan! :rockman:
jumbo 03-11-2004, 03:26:AM holy shlt, what a goal. 'dinho's a GOD. :rockman:
What a day for my fantasy team. Vagner Love misses a penalty (-2 points), Milan loses the match conceding 2 goals (-1 point for Kaká) and Adriano, the captain, gets sent off. Marvelous!
Oh, and Ancelotti, you suck. Get your head out of your ass please. You could just start with 10 defenders and one goalkeeper if you were so afraid anyway.
rony31 03-11-2004, 03:27:AM 2-1 FT... by the looks of the stats, Milan were ass-raped in this game and Barca deserved the win. congratulations Barca fans, you deserved this one
look on the bright side Milan fans, if this were the knockout stage, we'd be through on away goals :(
Yeah, i remembered this after the final whistle. If we finish level on points with Barça, we're still top i think.
WilliamFAlmeida 03-11-2004, 03:30:AM ROONAAAAALLLLLDIIIINNNNNNNHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

dannyeli 03-11-2004, 03:32:AM I don't know what the fvck was Ancelotti thinkings when he started Serginho, Ambro and Kaladze.... even Pancaro is better. :kader:
Congrast Barca, you outplay us today... Ronaldinho is priceless :(
And i agree with you Grunger, i think Ancelotti was thinking of getting a tie and not a win.
night 03-11-2004, 03:32:AM What an amazing goal by Ronaldinho!!!! :o :rockman:
Oh yeah.. screw FIFA for getting him booked..
Dream Team 03-11-2004, 03:35:AM I touched the paradise after that goal, wow. Great game, Dida did a great game and I think we deserved to win. Great game by Puyol, Xavi and Eto'o mainly. Ronaldinho
americangreg 03-11-2004, 03:38:AM On Uefa.com Milan's still in front of Barcelona, both 9pts. Barcelona have 8 goals in favor and 3 against them. Milan 6 in favor and 3 against them. So why is Milan still in front? Not that it matters, both teams will go through to the knockout phase, but why is this?
0le_Spain 03-11-2004, 03:38:AM Oh man that was great i thought we we're gonna end in a tie and that woulda been so frustrating taking into account we dominated this match(in part because we tried and part because Milan's defensive mentality for this match). You can tell how frustrated Ronaldinho was when he scored that goal he just exploded in a mixture of joy and anger he was given no space all match and the moment he saw he had some room in the left did that "little" move of his to create some space and just drilled it in with his left foot. He hasnt been his best all season but maybe this goal here lifts his spirits up. Great win and great effort by our players, couldnt have asked for more (well maybe a little better shooting at times :crazyboy: )

We beat you 1-0, and you beat us 2-1. We got an away goal, and matches between both teams are the first criteria when both of them finish level on points.

The team had literaly "eat" to an afraid milan, that should deserves another goal from Larsson and Eto´o. If you play football, you play football, as this wonderful night. But if you want only to defense with a great players as milan,,,,the result is evident,,,then is not football...

Oscarpuma9 03-11-2004, 03:44:AM It was an amazing goal by Ronaldinho, but I think that the ref could fo done alot better job, cause Milan was makin' 2 many faults andf thwe ref never took out a yellow card to calm things down.

The Barcelona midfield (which dominated by the way), lies on Deco.He is the one who is supposed to break opponent's attacks and create chances up front. He could have crossed better but he was great in defensive duties which are his priority.Xavi is the one who's main job is playmaker.Deco did his job very well.
Dida, yeah.Forgot him.I forgot Nesta and Pirlo as well.

TSN is gonna show the game ........... 12 midnight :(
What the hell was he thinking taking off Sheva, Kaká and Serginho? I mean, all the god damn attacking power going downhill. Sheva and Kaká hold at least 2-3 defender back there, they're a threat.
Now who cares about Tomasson? You can leave one guy there to man mark him and he's done. My god, if you remember the Depor match, the attitude was the same. The defending was better though, but it was the same thing.

Nah, it's the typical Milan tactic.Score and defend for the rest of the match. The difference between this match and the rest is that Milan wasn't able to prevent Barca from scoring at Camp Nou.Plus Ronaldinho.Ancelotti did what he does every time IMO.
Oscarpuma9 03-11-2004, 03:54:AM Yeah thats what they always do, they score and back up for the rest of the match, but this time Barcelona came back.

Talk about Barca, 'cause that's the only thing you know
Serginho, Ambrosini and Kaladze in the starting 11, never happened this year, but for this game it does, and that's not wierd ?
Keeping your barca talk and let alone the teams you know sh!t about
Drvar 03-11-2004, 04:06:AM Ancelotti always ****s up when it counts the most, trying to defend the lead from the very first minute. Its cost him some points so far, and it will cost him more. Plus he fields the ****tiest players when it counts the most.

Then Deco did nothing. We barely attacked. Plus all we did was kick the ball high, back to Barça, so they could start all over again. And yes, Ancelotti does those stuff (sitting back after we score)every time. But he keeps Sheva and Kaka upfront.
This time, he subbed all 3 (Sheva, Serginho and Kaká), and started with Ambrosini (plus Gattuso and Pirlo, who are DMC's, Pirlo being the less defensive of them and also doing the playmaking stuff). That was too much to take. Today, he decided we would sit back with a 1-1 draw (we sit back when we're winning), without Kaká, Sheva and Serginho, our 3 offensive players, and playing with 3 defensive midfielders. Tomasson alone wouldnt have done ****. Bringing Rui and Seedorf to play infront of defense doesnt help either.
He decided NOT to win. Carlo got everything wrong this night. Everything.

Vedran-10 03-11-2004, 04:15:AM Grunger - I guess so.I don't know Milan's usual lineup.I only know that they defend whenever they score. They did that tonight so I thought it was just an unlucky night for Ancelotti.
Nah, who cares. It's done.A spectacular match was played tonight.
Unforgetable. The highlight of the tournament so far.If the two meet later in the competition, it's gonna be an even better match because Ancelotti probably learned his lesson and we can only get better. Can't wait for the rest of the Champions League!
What a season it will be.

What a brilliant goal by Ronaldinho !
I am suprised he was able to score after being fouled and chopped so many times by Milan. He really bitched Nesta
Anyone got the goal ? (I want to see it again)
Barca definately deserved the win.
Dida had a superb match.
I hope these two meet again.

I'm always glad when someono kicks some sorry italian arses in football.http://www.abestweb.com/smilies/nuts.gif No offence all ya nice italian fellas, but I just can't help it. Boring defensive football just isn't my cup of tea. Maybe some people get an aesthetical enjoyment watching ''cattenachio'' at it's best, but I'm not one of those freaks.
Also, Barca is my favourite club team since year 96 when I started to watch football regullary. You just gotta luv their spectacular attacking combinational, very techniqe football game. They never betray it, no matter which year and what lineup I've been watching play.
Wish them only best.http://www.abestweb.com/smilies/award.gif

Yossarian 03-11-2004, 06:13:AM ****! Damn you guys to hell for posting the links to the goals and tempting me with them like my neighbour's daughter tempts me each and every morning with her ear delicious face and dick stirringly hot body wearing those phat booty pants and tight blouses. Part of me was like "you can get this game in its entirety later on tonight and watch it tomorrow, please don't ruin it for us by viewing the goals ahead of time." The other more impulsive side of me was like "You dumb, no good piece of turd, why would you be entering a football related forum where results, goals and highlights to games are posted on the regular and then not take advantage of what's given to you or complain about stuff being spoilt for you? Who knows if you'll live to see that game tomorrow, people are praising Barcelona's play endlessly and are applauding Ronnie's goal even more. Just click on the link and stfu about it already, bitch."
What a fantastic goal btw......He left the best defender in the world for dead....so explosive and flair-filled......sheesh.
PS
As a used condoms salesman, I get around to and collect a lot of condoms of celebs/normal folk for re-distribution. I'm going on a recon business trip to Barcelona next month to spy on Ronnie and take note of his sexual habits. Then when I fill like I've done enough shadowing of Ronnie. I'm gonna design a scheme to thieve his highly coveted semen while they're still alive and active, store them in a sperm container, bring them back to my home and plant them in my wife to be's (who's a great athlete in her own right) vagina without her knowledge and wait nine months for the little thing to cook up. Hopefully she won't take much notice of the jerry curled hair, the bucked front teeth and the kid's hands pre-rolled up to the surfer dude hand gesture.

Vaffanculo (dunno if is the correct spelling) it means something like "**** you in the ass". Maybe any italian guys can enlight us ! :)

Larsson should have finished it off though, it was harder to miss than score.

but yeah, Ancelotti got the line up all wrong. I've never seen us play this defensive since.. EVER.
Its hard to admit but Barca treated us like we always treat those lesser Serie A sides that come to San Siro and hope to hit on the counter.
I really, really, REALLY hope Carlo sees the light and let Ambro pack his bags. Give money + him to Real Madrid or something.
People say it was a good game, yeah, IF YOU WERE A BARCA FAN. I guess its okay though, our defence did quite well and we're playing in the Nou Camp.
I should just comfort myself reading this over and over again. :(
Milan want Ronaldinho
Milan are preparing a sensational, even if seemingly unlikely, January swoop for Barcelona ace Ronaldinho.
Rossoneri Vice-president Adriano Galliani is a massive admirer of the Brazilian and the club are keen on his New Year arrival.
The Italian champions have problems in attack this season seeing as only Andriy Shevchenko is delivering the goods.
Jon Dahl Tomasson is not living up to his past performances, while Hernan Crespo and Pippo Inzaghi have been plagued by injuries.
Whispers suggest that Milan could tempt Barca to sell by offering £7m plus Manuel Rui Costa and Massimo Ambrosini.
It has even been claimed that initial talks could take place this evening after the two sides meet in the Champions’ League.
However, the chances of seeing Ronaldinho at the San Siro in January look pretty slim in all honesty.
It seems far more likely that the proposed move could in fact occur at the end of the season instead.
Ronaldinho, 24, joined Barca last season from Paris SG after a spell in his homeland with Gremio.

hahaha yeah right, if you're gonna post a made up story at least make it more credible but £7m, RC and Ambrosini for Ronaldinho ...errr no thanks, it would have to be something like £20+Kaka+Nesta+Pirlo and we might start considering it
;)
the amount is ridiculous, yeah, but keep in mind youve guys sold Figo and Ronaldo.. Both at the peak of their careers.
mufc_daddy 03-11-2004, 06:13:PM Ronladinho's buy out clause is about 120 million euros for this season.
Next season it will be 80 million and so on and so on.
Whats to say that Barca wouldnt pass up on an offer like that (if it did come along) ?
They identified Overmars as a perfect replacement for Figo. They got a good replacement and made a profit.
I doubt it but u never know they could sell Ronnie and buy Robinho and keep the profit (for example).
wow that ronaldinho goal was class (H)
Yossarian 03-11-2004, 06:45:PM Hello der, my dear fellows. As Moratti's chief representative for player purchases, I'm willing to offer Barcelona the deal of the century for Ronnie. 90million euros up front (another 30 million euros deferred over 2yrs)+ the land claims to the Angelo Moratti Sports Centre grounds (valued at well over 200 million euros) Let me tell yah, we've got big, big, big plans for this dude. We will try this new cat out for about a season or two all the while playing him stupidly out of position before selling...errrr trading him off to one of our main rivals (most likely to Milan) for Ambrosini and a goalkeeper from their youth squad or something, where there after, he will blossom in the Milan kit, win the player of the year 5yrs in a row and bring the rossoneri all club titles known to man
So, how about it, my Barca brethren? Pm me if you consent to this offer so we can touch up on the final procedures of this deal.

We didnt sell Figo, Madrid paid his buy out clause. Obviously every player has a price but that offer you posted is just laughable to say the least. Last y year Chelsea offered close to €80m and we declined so what makes you think that £7m plus a player nearing the end of his career and an average midfielder is gonna change our minds.
When you have one of the best players in the world(if not the best), theres always going to be rumours flying around and most likely tempting offers but its highly unlikely that we would sell Ronaldinho in the middle of the season, wait til june and maybe you can start talking.
rsnjg 03-11-2004, 07:30:PM dont forget the Chelsea factor, any bid made for ronnie will prob be better than matched. remember the only reason barca got him to sign a new contact was to increase the minimum fee from 80 to 120 euros, because they were scared that chelsea would activate his minimum release clause and lose there best asset.

Yeh.. Im not saying that offer was a good one. Its just part of the stupid rumour. But its well known that Milan's two strongmen, Berlusconi and Galliani like Ronaldinho.
An offer in January wouldnt be realistic, but wait till the end of the season. I know the likeliness of him coming is minimal, but anything is possible and its not wrong to drool over a Ronaldinho-Kaká-Sheva partnership.

If Deco falls down then he's always a diver but actually Shevchenko was the only one who cheated today.
Shevchenko cheated? When? If you're talking about the goal, then i strongly disagree. Oleguer tried to foul him with so much entusiasm that he ended up fouling himself.
0le_Spain 04-11-2004, 03:47:AM I think he's talking about Shevckenko faking the injuries to waste time.
Every player does that though. Still, trying to defend Deco by pointing the finger at an opposing player, isnt a valid argument. Deco is a diver.
Dream Team 04-11-2004, 04:19:AM He faked an injury to stop a counter-attack. Not every player does that.
I won't discuss about Deco, I disagree, that's all. I won't try to convince you because I know it is impossible, but if you talk about cheaters, you should start for Shevchenko.
No, i should start with Deco. Sheva faked an injury but he doesnt do it every game. Deco, in the other hand, dives every god damn game.
That, and then he raises his hand and starts to ask the referee for a yellow card. Let's just end the discussion, you won, congrats, and Deco didnt have nothing to do with it anyway.
rony31 04-11-2004, 08:50:AM arguing between who dives more - Shevchenko or Deco... wow :|

I agree, Deco is a diver and Shevchenko is a cheater.
rony31 04-11-2004, 09:22:AM and why is Shevchenko a cheater? because he supposedly took a dive to waste time :|
Dream Team 04-11-2004, 09:39:AM He faked a injury to stop a counter-attack. Barça were counter-attacking and he faked being injured to stop the game. I hope you've understood now, I don't want to repeat it again.
I'm just treating Shevchenko the same way you're treating Deco. What's the big deal? Deco is a diver and Shenchenko is a cheater, or another diver.
dannyeli 04-11-2004, 09:41:AM Deco has done it HOUNDREDS of times... sheva was kicked, and yeah... it wasn't as bad as it may had been, but just because he did it once, doesn't make him a cheater.
rony31 04-11-2004, 09:48:AM are you saying that Shevchenko's a cheater for staying down ONCE? :| please don't compare him to Deco every again, anyone

Deco is a diver because he dove in that Euro2004 final and it doesn't matter what he does because all the haters will see him as a diver always. I've seen all the matches that he's played this season, he has been the best player we've signed this summer (2nd, Eto'o rocks (H)) and I don't think he's a diver. He's not been that diver that you say he's always.

haha.
Sheva is the current holder of the Serie A Fair Player Of The Year Award.
Deco would never win such a thing. Heck. He wont even win an international diving championship because he dives with no style. :(
Even if Sheva did act yesterday, he was on the ground even before the counter attack started.

Wow, you're calling Deco a diver because Sheva did it.
And I don't see why you Milan fans are so angry at Ambrosini. It's not like he was supposed to control the match or anything.I think he did a decent job overall.Don't understand why Seedorf didn't play, tho...
