5-1 is ridiculous. Our defence isn't wonderful by any means, but I think we'll tighten up against Barca.

Raikkonen
16-11-2004, 12:10:AM
Helguera & Puyol are both injured, and they're very doubtful for this match. They would be a big loss for each team. In Real Madrid, Pavon would be Helguera's substitute :(.

PS. 5-1  :| ? we have better defense than Barca in La Liga (H)

Goals Allowed
Barca: 7 (Valdés)
Real Madrid: 6 (5 Casillas, 1 César)

Nuno
16-11-2004, 12:23:AM
Actually, our defense has been pretty good this season. Barca has conceded one more goal than us this season(7). Where we have only conceded 6(tied for least with Espanyol).

Barca's goal difference is 14;ours is 10. Real Madrid is not doing as bad as everyone thinks. We're actually just fine(although I want more goals).

Hanek's gonna flip.

It will be a special night.I simply can't wait.

It's kinda good that we lost to Betis because we know we are not unbeatable.Laporta is right when he says that it's good that Barca also suffers a little.

These games are always spectacular.

Madrid's certainly had a rise in form but they are not at our level IMO.They played the game against Albacete like we played most of our games this season and suddenly it's so special that Madrid trashed them.Barca have been displaying better football all season and I have no worries over Madrid being in a good run.
If we play our game, they'll have to fight hard to get a point.

I am hoping for a 3:1.

-------------------------Valdes

Belletti * -------Puyol ** ---Oleguer------Gio

---------------------Marquez

----------------Xavi--------------Deco

Giuly *** ---------------------------Ronaldinho

--------------------Eto'o

* - Has started working with the first team so I don't think he will miss the game. And I wouldn't like to see Damia on the right. He is much weaker than Belletti.

** - He's been in Madrid for some physiotherapy and has returned to Barcelona for treatment.DT says he'll play and I hope he does.If he doesn't, I don't know what we're gonna do.We've seen Oleguer's job on Sheva.I don't wanna think what would happen if Puyol doesn't mark Ronaldo.

*** - He's been crap since the injury.Larsson's played the Betis game very well and scored the goal so there's a possibility that Giuly won't play but I doubt it.Rijkaard seems confident in Giuly.I would want to see Larsson play from the start but if Giuly can play like he did before he was injured, then I'd definitely wanna see Ludo.

The three marked positions are most probably the only ones that could change.I can't imagine why Rijkaard would change someone else. And I hope the line-up is as I've written it.

Gerard is also doubtful.

Oleguer's comment on Saturday:We're all after a win and if we can give them a thrashing and plunge them into crisis even better!

You have got to be kidding me.

Madridistas would have to be pleased with a draw.A draw is a good result, all things considered. In recent years not so much, but this year Barca should be superior. At least in the Camp Nou.
But it's the type of match where literally anything can happen...

TV blackout threat for 'El derbi'

MADRID, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Millions of Spaniards could miss Spain's most keenly awaited soccer fixture between Barcelona and Real Madrid because of two separate disputes involving television companies.
The match, which regularly gains one of the biggest TV audiences of the year, is scheduled to be televised live on Saturday night by regional channels and the state-owned company TVE.

But a disagreement between the body that represents the regional television channels (FORTA) and TVE is endangering its transmission.

TVE want to reduce the amount it pays for the right to show league matches on a Saturday night, but FORTA, who hold the rights to the broadcasts, are threatening to pull the plug on this weekend's game unless the state TV match the 9.5 million euros ($12.33 million) they paid last season.

If the two organisations fail to reach an agreement, regions such as Castilla and Leon, Extremadura and Navarra, who do not possess their own regional television companies, will be unable to see the match.

At the same time a labour dispute at the local Madrid television company, Telemadrid, means that viewers in the Spanish capital may also be unable to see the game, bringing the total of viewers who could miss out to over 15 million.

Negotiations are scheduled to take place over the next few days in an attempt to resolve the two disputes.

....what do u guys think?....all becuase of the greatest match on earth:mrpimp:

Something's gotta be worked out.I will surely be seeing the game but I'd feel sorry for people who would miss it.

But I doubt something like that will happen on the world's biggest encounter.
The thought of Madrid citizens not being able to watch a Barca - Madrid match is ridiculous. And hilarious.

After seeing Xavi performance today, he is definately a player we need to stop.

I read this...pretty interesting (in my point of view):

Penpix of Real Madrid players before Saturday's Primera Liga match at Barcelona:

Iker Casillas, goalkeeper, 23:

Broke into the first team as an 18-year-old five seasons ago and has been the number one choice since. Brilliant shot-stopper and seemingly impossible to beat in one-on-one situations. He is not so hot on crosses or long-distance efforts.

Michel Salgado, right back, 29:

One of Real's most reliable performers, the former Celta player has a good turn of pace, is uncompromising in the tackle and gets forward at every opportunity. Good crosser of the ball, he occasionally gets caught out when his attacking instincts get the better of him.

Ivan Helguera, centre-back, 29:

Versatile centre-back, who can also play in midfield, but long-running groin and knee problems have taken the edge off Helguera's game. Like predecessor Fernando Hierro he is vulnerable against nimble-footed forwards. However still capable of producing inspirational performances at the back.

Francisco Pavon, centre-back, 24:

Competent centre-half, who is good in the air and quick on the ground. Plays the ball well out of defence, but still struggles to impose himself on opposition strikers.

Raul Bravo, left back or centre-back, 23:

Speedy left back, who can play in the centre of defence. Good in the tackle but lacks confidence in the air and is often caught out of position when he plays in the middle. Likely to be used only if Helguera and Pavon are unfit.

Walter Samuel, centre-back, 26:

Real paid Roma a hefty 25 million euros ($32.6 million) for the Argentine international, who as yet has failed to live up to his price tag. Solid but not particularly agile and could have problems containing the live-wire Samuel Eto'o.

Roberto Carlos, left back, 31:

Brazilian defender has been one of Real's most influential players since signing from Inter Milan in 1996. Has incredible pace, allowing him to push forward into attack on the left, although he often leaves gaps at the back. Possesses a thundering shot but his free kicks are too often wide of the mark.

David Beckham, central midfield, 29:

England captain made an impressive start to his Real career but his form dipped badly after the turn of the year. Has scored two important goals in the league this season but is not as influential in the centre of midfield as he was on the right for Manchester United. Returned last week after a month off with cracked ribs.

Luis Figo, right wing, 32:

Real's first Galactico and the man who helped Florentino Perez win the presidential election by agreeing to defect from Barcelona. Has never been forgiven by the Nou Camp faithful and will be assured of another hostile reception. Remains a determined and elusive runner with a powerful shot, although tends to be selfish with the ball.

Guti, central midfielder, 28:

Talented but temperamental player, who has taken advantage of Beckham's injury absence to cement his place in the centre of midfield. Good vision and neat passing skills. Prone to make reckless challenges that often lead to unnecessary bookings.

Santiago Solari, left-sided midfielder, 28:

Under-rated Argentine midfielder who frequently makes decisive appearances as a substitute. Reads the game well, has good close skills and possesses a great shot.

Zinedine Zidane, left midfield, 32:

Signed for a world record $66 million from Juventus in 2001, the Frenchman lived up to his price tag when he scored a glorious volleyed winner in the final of the 2002 European Cup. Like Figo has retired from international football to prolong his club career. An irregular performer, he always raises his game for the big occasion and is still capable of producing moments of match-winning brilliance.

Raul, striker, 27:

Real's captain and the only one of the Spaniards mentioned in the same breath as the Galacticos. Looked stale and unhappy last season but has shown recent signs of recovering his sharpness and has a good record in matches against the old enemy.

Ronaldo, striker, 28:

Despite concerns about his weight and work rate, the Brazilian remains one of the most devastating finishers in the game and he looked to have regained his edge with a bubbly performance in last week's 6-1 win over Albacete. Like Figo, the three-times World Player of the Year is a former Barcelona favourite.

Michael Owen, striker, 24:

Joined Real this season for a knock-down 12 million euros and was quickly labelled the Galactico supersub. Owen has made the most of every minute on the pitch, scoring six goals in the last eight games. Has yet to earn himself an automatic place but almost certain to feature at some stage of Saturday's game.

Fernando Morientes, striker, 28:

Last season's top scorer in the Champions League while on loan at Monaco and persuaded to return to Real by Jose Antonio Camacho. The arrival of Owen and the premature departure of Camacho have left him as the lowest ranked of the four strikers and almost certainly condemned to a season on the bench.

Penpix of Barcelona players before Saturday's Primera Liga match against Real Madrid:

Penpix of Barcelona players before Saturday's Primera Liga match against Real Madrid:

Victor Valdes, goalkeeper, aged 22:

One of the best young keepers in Spain and good enough to keep Turkish international Rustu Recber out of the team last season. Quick, agile and confident, he has conceded penalties for mistiming dives at the feet of strikers.

Carles Puyol, centre-back or right back, 26:

Shaggy-haired defender is the heart and soul of the new Barcelona. Adored by fans for his never-say-die approach, he times his tackles well, is confident with the ball and good going forward. The only question mark is his fitness after picking up a knee injury in last week's defeat at Betis.

Rafael Marquez, centre-half, 25:

After an inconsistent start at Barca, the Mexican international has come into his own this season. Hard in the tackle, good in the air and dangerous going forward, he can play in the back four or push up into midfield with equal effect.

Oleguer, centre-back or right back, 24:

Versatile former reserve player who provides cover in several positions at the back. Has matured into an efficient, no-frills defender under the tutelage of Puyol and coach Frank Rijkaard.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, left back or left midfield, 29:

The Dutch international has been in fine form this season. He gets forward as much as possible, whipping in telling crosses from the left and has weighed in with important goals.

Juliano Belletti, right back, 26:

Member of Brazil's World Cup-winning squad, Belletti is Barca's answer to Robero Carlos. He likes to push forward down the right wing and is no slouch in defence. His duel with his fellow countryman should be fascinating.

Silvinho, left back, 28:

The former Arsenal and Celta Vigo defender has recently recovered from a knee injury and is unlikely to start. Given his pace and attacking instincts he is the perfect back-up to van Bronckhorst on the left.

Deco, central midfielder, 27:

Played an instrumental role in Porto's Champions League triumph last season and in Portugal's run to the final of Euro 2004, and Deco has been an instant hit at the Nou Camp. Has excellent control and is a good passer of the ball. He is also a ball-winner and tireless worker in the centre of midfield.

Ludovic Giuly, right wing, 28:

Speedy French winger who helped guide Monaco to the final of the Champions League last season. Made a great start to his career at Barca, but has gone off the boil after a thigh injury and has yet to recover his early-season sharpness.

Andres Iniesta, central midfielder, 20:

Jewel in the crown of Barca's renowned youth system, the under-21 international is mature beyond his years and has won the confidence of coach Rijkaard with a string of assured performances in midfield. Reminiscent of former Nou Camp idol Michael Laudrup.

Xavi, central midfielder, 24:

Xavi has been Barca's key player this season and finally looks like living up to his billing as Pep Guardiola's replacement. Constantly searching out his team mates, he keeps everything ticking in midfield, has an impressive range of defence-splitting passes and likes to take a pot at goal. Has a great understanding with Ronaldinho.

Ronaldinho, forward, 24:

Star of the show at the Nou Camp, the prodigiously talented Brazilian may not yet have reached the heights of last season, yet he is still capable of setting any game alight. No other player in the Primera Liga possesses his repertoire of shimmies, step-overs and assorted tricks. A potential match-winner.

Henrik Larsson, striker, 33:

The former Celtic hero has had to content himself with a supporting role since his arrival at the Nou Camp. Has missed a few good chances in one-on-one situations this season, but his work rate has been impressive and he remains a great finisher.

Samuel Eto'o, striker, 23:

Once on Real's books, the Cameroon striker is always fired up for games against his old club and will be even more so now that he has joined arch-rivals Barcelona. Has been in electric form this season, grabbing nine goals to top the scoring charts, and is certain to create problems for the Real back four.

It's great for Barcelona but bad for the match overall that Helguera won't play. This might be our way to victory.

I don't see how Pavon and Samuel can stop Ronaldinho and Eto'o.
From what I've seen of Samuel, he's far from world-class (I don't know, I haven't seen much) and Pavon is simply not up to it.

We are lucky.

BTW Puyol is definitely playing.

Actually the biggest game on the planet is taking place tommorow at 12.30 @ ipox Park, when the popes 11 take on the house of hannover select. Cmon the celts

on to EL CLassico, Im going for A 3-1 Barca win, I think that given last weekend Barca lost they'll not want to loose 2 weeks in a row. If they start well and press Madrid I can see them going 2 goals up within an hour of play. Of all teh teams Ive seen this year I have to say that Barca have been by far the best, When they came to Celtic Park they played what I can only describe as Heavenly Football, higher standard than Ive seen from any Madrid performance, Also I want Barca to win and stuff the royal arseholes !!!! And as the game is against Madrid Id liek to see Larsson, Eto and Ronaldinho score all the goals so the Ultra Sur can stfu with their pathetic noises.

I love that feeling of knowing that you're going to be treated to one hell of a game and when that last whistle is blown, you can easily detach yourself from the occasion and move on to your club's issues. That deep emotional investment that Barca/Real fans have got riding on this game doesn't concern me one bit. All I care about is being treated to a memorable game......like last year.

Barcelona has some tremendous players, but it's games like this where Madrid's Galacticos and Balons D'Or prove their worth. We have Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo and Raul as game-breaking players, and Barcelona really only has Ronaldinho and Eto'o.

again with this?

madrid press is still insisting with that, but they know that although there were incidents, according to the law the stadium couldn't be closed for that.

To close a stadium, thare has to be someone injured or there has to be a briefing from the police saying that the club didn't do all it was in his hand to prevend violence. None of this things happened. Police admited that the club did well.

So according to the law the staium couldn't be closed. Madrid media is insisting again and again with this but without explaining the truth. It's just throwing sh*t even if they know it's not true. Just to make the match hotter.

madrid authorities would be happy to cloes Barça stadium (specially the anti-catalan goverment ruling when all this happened). If they haven't done it, it's because they have no real good argument to do it.

if all this wasn't enouth there a new law with implies that the closing is even less possible.

for Raikkonen (i think you're from chile?) I explain you this law in spanish beause it's too long and difficult for me to do it in english. And I geuss it's too boring to read for anyone not really interested in spanish foootball.

Vaya rollo he pegado!!

You may not be have punished by FEF , since you used the ordinary justice in order to paralize the process till the law was changed.

But you should be punished by FIFA, cause everybody knows that is illegal to use the ordinary justice to break out a sportive disciplinary process.

you can't go to ordinatry justice to discuss sport matters, but here it was another thing that was appeled.

Barça had been fined by 2 different ways for the same reason and legaly there was no reason for that any of them.

we weren't in ordinary justice for a penalty or something like that.

madrid fans claiming for justice ... reminds me Pinochet claiming for a fair trial

by the way, it says Madrid was, at teh moment of being that article published, the most punished club by UEFA.

(and they don't punish non sport activities, imagine how it would be if all your hisytory was investigated. ;) )

1. I agree with you in this one. This guy is an idiot.

3. If I'm not wrong they were basques ... so? but I agree it's someting that shouldn't be done. In Bernabeu It impossible this happening because just for being basques they would be beaten.

4. what the sin here? why can't they claim for what they want? I know democracy is something difficult to handle for some (every time less) Madrid supporters, but you have to live with it.

I think Figo, Raul, Beckham (fk) will score for us.

For Barça, Eto'o and Xavi will score.
